They give much more flexibility in allowing one to experiment with open tunings. Angel Standing By is written in open Db (that's D flat) tuning. Using your chromatic tuner tune strings (bass to treble) as Db,Ab,Db,F,Ab,Db. On this song Jewel also uses a capo at the second fret. If you're reading from tab, simply add 2 to the fret numbers indicated (12=14,7=9 etc, as the capo now acts as the nut). I have seen this song tabbed out in open D as well, but the Db tuning sounds better. For info, the open D tuning is D,A,D,F#,A,D. Have fun practising!! Liam >-- Original Message -- >From: "Nicole M. So his first question with regard to this was: WHAT HAPPENED??? - - Jewel (laughing): " lots of plastic surgery"... I had to laugh so hard, i almost threw away the remote control... Cheers! It just talks up the song and talks about what Jewel has done/is doing. They mention the Lyon's Den and the other stuff we know about but they also mention that Jewel will be appearing on the cover of Redbook Magazine this fall! Cool! The show was entertainging, Jewel was made to laugh a lot of ftimes. She looked extremely sexy in her white short skirt and she wore an amazing piece of clothes and lovely lingerie , very booby :) She was asked about her boyfriend Ty, Stefan the presenter remembered Jewel4s last visit with her friend ty. He asked her how old he was and if they are happy. Jewel could handle the stage joystick and they were moving around the studios which was very funny. Jewel was comfortable and at ease and told that the record she made was a fun record and she is not good at name calling and she said she wants to make a joke about all music girlies out there! Stefan, the presenter asked her about castration of bulls and if she could handle it :) haha , very funny !And then the best part came when Stefan took his guitar and they wrote a funny love song together. It was hyalarious and even did Jewel yodel. I loved the performance and Jewel enjoyed being there. The presenter always does a nice job and show a cool side. They wrote the lyrics of the improvised love song together. Stefan played guitar choirds and started two lines and than Jewel added her own text to it. It went in a very funny way; jewel enjoyed being there and made some nice lyrics as well! She was laughing, looking sweet and i am happy to have my satellite dish to watch GERMAN satellite tv!! Shame though that Jewel didn4t perform live on the german tvshows!! THat is not cool but she promoted 0304 on one of the biggest tvshows in Germany and that was fun! Because TV total the show she was on, is broadcasted in GERMANY; AUSTRIA and ZWITSERLAND! So jewel did a good job and she looked happy and i laughed a lot! A++++++++++++++++ very cool jewel show on german TV :) That guy Stefan is just a funny guy and has no intentions to be the main attraction, he let the guest be herself and jewel enjoyed it... lator.....i am sure it will be on the site of prosieben soon , a clip of the interview www.prosieben.de bye Michiel the dutch jewelfan http://www.jewelkilcher.nl ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 2003 19:32:17 EDT From: W1GGY2@aol.com Subject: Re:[EDA] POY booklet I have the POY promo book you are talking about and it is filled with spelling errors. I think its cute and was kind of nice how in the old days she didn't have people correcting her spelling (when she used to write letters to the list we used to know she typed them out herself because of all the spelling mistakes; then at some point they started coming across all correct and we knew she started sending them through someone else). I believe she blamed her poor spelling on dyslexia. :-) amy Cristian wrote: << Not many of you know who I am, I am Cristian and not a very good writer so whatever I may post when I come out of lurk-mode may sound like like I have no personality, whatever. OK- I was helping my friend move today and I saw a box of cd's, what have you. I saw the Pieces Of You booklet! I noticed Jewel's drawing ways on the front as soon as I saw. Ok, my thing is that he gave it to me, said it was his ex-girlfriends, and I read it. Jewel is one of the most intelligent people I have known of, how is she so completely illiterate!?! Illiterate isn't the right word, ofcourse she is well read, but her spelling...her ways of writing are horrible, how soes she speak and write so well? Does anyone else have this booklet? I am very interested in knowing more about it, it looks like it might be from the beginning of her career. Let me know please angel, thanks much. >> ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 2003 23:07:59 -0230 From: "Mark Austin" Subject: [EDA] great news Well, according to Rock On The Net's Jewel page (which is a very very great Jewel resource) Intuition is Jewels biggest hit since her Pieces Of You days, even beating out Hands. The website is here: http://www.rockonthenet.com/artists-j/jewel_main.htm Scroll down towards the bottom. The list is based on chart height and mostly the length of the chart run. Its great that Jewel is still doing this well after so many years. 0304 has gone gold, but hopefully Stand will keep sales up and carry it into the xmas season. I really hope 0304 does as well as This Way, which it definately should, seing she is a lot more popular than she was during the run of This Way. Well, thats all from me! Nite nite. Intuition is on it. The commercial played Intuition and showed a clip from the video (Jewel being sprayed down, of course -_-). Too bad it gives people the wrong impression lol. You need to see the video in its entirety! To date, Jewel has been on several Now cds. Now 3 and Now 2. I'm not sure of any others, but its a good sign that Jewel is with the mainstream "in crowd" again. Does anyone else have this booklet? .. Christian, I know what you are talking about. I don't know how many fans know that Jewel is dyslexic. I can't remember where I read it ..it may be in Chasing down the Dawn...can't be sure, but anyway people who are dyslexic often see words and letters backwards, can't spell very well because of it and some have a difficult time learning to read. It has nothing to do with their intellience or their creativity. If anyone on the the list has more of a definition feel free to add...it is late and I am beat and I am surprised that I can even type this well. ( often consider myself a dyslexic typist :) Cheers Mary Lynn ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #377 ***************************
