Sure it got Jewel some publicity as well but I don't think that was her main motivation. Um, you do realize the whole purpose of an opening act is to have lesser-known artists get publicity. And I don't know how you find new artists that you like, but Soul City Cafi and opening acts for other artists I like are two ways that I have found new artists. Sometimes they click with you and sometimes they don't. I really don't get the backlash against SCC. Were you in some way insulted by its existence? You have something against unknown artists getting publicity? Or you're just ticked that the JeweLink messages had the audacity to mention anything other than Jewel? Puh-leez. If you're not interested in SCC or HGH or any of the other acronyms that Jewel supports then JUST IGNORE THEM. Just a reminder to folks that what the un-named person above is propsong cannot be allowed on this list for a variety of reasons. They include, but are not limited to: 1) a long standing list policy that, while MINOR profit for "time spent" is considered OK, something like this is not in the spirit of this list 2) with the RIAA and Atlantic monitoring this list, odds are this will draw their attention, and I cannt be sure what may occur. 3) it's illegal. Yes, the minor profit is too, but the RIAA and Atlantic seem to let that slide (i.e. if tape and postage to mail costs like 8 bucks, a 9 buck "price" is not out of line....20 bucks is WAY out of line) 4) The owner of smoe.org (not me), does not allow people to make money off his resources.
