I got an email today saying that Soul City is going on hiatus until further notice for "re-evaluation." Did anyone else get this? Is Jewel giving up on her new project already? It seems so strange that it would go on hiatus after all of the work they've been doing for it, trying to promote it, the concert at san juan capistrano, and now the 2 bands opening for her during the fall tour. I know I'll disappointed if it no longer exists. It was such a great idea, and I did enjoy helping out on it. What does everyone make of this? You can email me privately or to the list. *the mystic angel* Jordana "I'd rather see the world from another angle."-Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 17:21:34 EDT From: LuckyStarr42@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Soul City Hiatus/ Poetry contest I recieved the e-mail as well. On another note, there was a supplement in the 0304 case that said something about a poetry contest she was having and then she was going to publish a book featuring the authors... whatever happened to this? I'll admit I haven't been paying a ton of attention so I am not sure if I missed it. I am more concerned about Jewel4s own shows than the talents of other artists. Don4t get me wrong but the whole soul city cafe was a playtoy for nedra carol. i have nothing to add more than to congratulate soul city cafe to start the funeral for this initiative! bye michiel the dutch jewelfan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 22:42:39 +0100 From: "Tom H" Subject: Re: [EDA] YEAH HALLELUJAH soul city cafe vanish > I am more concerned about Jewel4s own shows than the talents of other artists. > Don4t get me wrong but the whole soul city cafe was a playtoy for nedra > carol. Shut up please. Michiel, the more you post, the more it becomes obvious that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! If it wasn't for people like Nedra and the Soul City Cafe people - people who strive to discover new artists based on real talent rather than looks, etc - Jewel would probably still be a struggling artist, and you would never have heard of her and seen four million shows. Soul City Cafe allowed people to discover new artists that they would never had heard of, which is an incredible gift. Soul City Cafe has also allowed Jewel fans to see some truly talented artists support her when she tours, rather than M2M or another Atlantic marketing strategy. I know I would much rather see Soul City Cafe last for years than that Unedited shite - crappy concert seats and a few clips of old songs, woohoo! Think about how ridiculous you come across before you post, Michiel. Tom ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 16:53:33 -0700 From: "Johnnie J. I guess I'm not good with spacial concepts because I HAVE NO IDEA what the heck Jewel was talking about. I get the "music is geometric," but I don't understand her "game." Can someone explain it to me? It's just ... weird. Elizabeth P.S. On a side note, I guess since I'm not good with spacial concepts, I wouldn't be a good spy because according to ALIAS, that is a biggie in the CIA testing. That's also probably why I wasn't very good with the O-chem modeling. anyway ... Pleeeeeeeeease. I was just thinking in my boredom.. If Jewel does 'Intuition' yet again on Pepsi Smash and Leno, I will cut my ears off. I'm really excited we're finally getting new promo going on. I am also a little scared that they're going to keep trying to push 'Intuition.' It had a nice run, it's starting to fall (I'm almost positive for the last time), people are TIRED OF HEARING IT. Speaking from personal experience, Charlotte got on the bandwagon and have been playing it since MARCH. My friends are so tired of the song they could scream. People need to hear new material, so I pray that she does 'Stand' instead. In fact, she can do two songs (Evanescence is right now), so she can fit in two songs. I'm sure if she gets two songs, one will be 'Intuition,' though. Anyway, the new Interview is great. The three new pictures are gorgeous, and the interview is sweet. :D - -- Scott http://scott.rocket-fish.org/ http://www.livejournal.com/~sevan112 http://syd.rocket-fish.org/ ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #324 ***************************
