It's pretty crazy that the list has got to a point where people need to be introduced to Steve Poltz...back in the day he's was almost as big a part of this list's discussion as Jewel. Thanks for telling me about the DVD though...maybe i should finally buy a DVD player huh? anyone uninitiated with Mr. Steven Joseph Joshua Poltz should check out this section on his site where you can download suff: http://www.poltz.com/HTML/music1.html Tom the "cactus" angel >Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 22:57:03 -0400 >From: "Sean Stevens" >Subject: [EDA] Njc: POLTZ DVD!! ;) > >Just . Presley (Reaper)" Subject: [EDA] Hello from a new EDA Hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chad Presley, I'm 29 and I live in a small town in Texas called Frost (it is south of Dallas between Corsicana and Waco). Actually I live out in the sticks but Frost is the closest town. I drive an 18 wheeler for a livining for a company called KTL, it is a flatbed company. I mainly run in TX, OK, NM, AR, LA, and CO. I stay out for a week at a time, getting home for the weekends. On my free time I like to go fishing, hunting, and offroading in my Toyota Tacoma (check out my web sites: http://offroadaddiction.com/txttora/ and http://offroadaddiction.com/prerunner/ ). Musically I like all kinds of bands, the majority being heavy metal, classic rock, and alternative. A few of my favorite bands are Queensryche (if you appreciate Jewel's voice check out Jeff Tate, he also has an amazing voice), Old Metallica (up to the Black album), Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Tom Petty, Counting Crows, Live, along with many, many more, and of course, Jewel... I've only been a big Jewel fan for about 9mo or so. It started when I bought POY through a CD club on a whim that I might just like it. I had heard some of her songs over the years but never really got into it. Well after getting POY I was hooked. Her voice is amazing. Her music and lyics are moving. It didn't take long for me to get Spirit and This Way. (I also got the Life Uncommon DVD). I like them all and I listen to them a lot. As soon as 0304 came out I got it too. It wasn't quite what I expected from Jewel but it grew on me after a few spins and now I love it too ;) When I am in the mood to listen to Jewel I listen to all her albums back to back. My favorite time to listen is when I am stuck in rush hour traffic in some big city like Houston or Dallas. She takes the edge off right away... On my Fanscape signiture I have this written "The World would be a better place if everyone listened to Jewel". I truly belive that to be true. So much so I joined her fan club. I have never been involved in a fan club before this one. No artist had moved me as much as Jewel does. I wanted to find out more about her life and what made her the woman she is today. I wanted to help support such a fine artist... I look forward to getting to know some other EDAs and being involved in her fan club as much as I can. I also hope to eventually be able to get a hold of some angel food ;) I have heard her live stuff on the DVD and I look forward to hearing more. I will definatly be at her concert this year when she comes through the Dallas area, maybe even see her if she goes thru Houston or San Antonio too. Hopefully I will get to meet a few other EDAs there ;) Chad Presley The "Rollin" Angel - ----------Chad Presley---------- 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x2 - "Reaper" 4x2 Pre-Runner Club - Prez - -------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Jul 2003 19:41:19 -0500 From: "Sarah Dowling" Subject: Re: [EDA] Hello from a new EDA Hi Chad, Nice to hear your Jewel story :-) It's always interesting to hear people talk about why they enjoy Jewel's music, admire her as a person, and how they discovered her in the first place. I was 12 when I started listening -- she got me through junior high. I'm twenty now, and I still believe her voice is one of the best "human instruments" on this Earth today. Not to mention her lyrics are insightful and her live shows rock! That said, if she comes through San Antonio or Austin, I'll be there! I'd love to meet another TX EDA -- I had the pleasure of meeting a few @ Jewel's Backyard show in Austin last year. Too fun... Hope you enjoy the list! Well... I am 12.... and Jewel's stuff is getting me thru Junior high right now. I always find it ironic when people I meet online tell me about stuf I started blah blah blah when I was 12" I'll always tell then that I AM 12 and they'll be quite taken back. Jewel is my favorite artisrt and I'll follow her whatever side of the fork in the road she chooses, sometimes grudgingly, (I started out talking about my age and ended up talkin about philoshophy, go figure) Ive been on this list for a year just haven't posted very much... I joined the EDA list back when spirit came out, but I quit because I got busy doing other things, but the important thing is that I'm back!! I look forward to meeting some fellow Jewel fans. I live in Lansing, MI... anyone from Michigan? I currently go to Michigan State University. I actually starting listening to Jewel when spirit came out back in the day and have been an avid listener ever since. Her new album is quite different, but it has grown on me as well. =) Jewel is very diverse, and I love that about her. Well, enough about me, I'd like to hear from all of you!
