(we were at an open mic at the TV was rolling with Jewel performing) and I was like "What! No Jewel doesn't need to have anything fixed!" And he was like "See! No more snaggletootH!" So did I miss something? I've never really paid much attention to the whole tooth thing, but now I"m curious b/c my friend was so insistent... Did she indeed "have the tooth fixed"? Hey Guys I got an email from MrBB about Unedited. He basically offered me a bit of an explanation as to why they're only giving us clips of songs rather than full versions. He gave me permission to pass it on to you and I thought I'd do it before there's a bit of an uproar about "paying for only clips" etc... Here's what he said: "I know some of the more hardcore fans may be a little dismayed that we are still contractually restricted to using clips on live recordings, but they have finally turned me loose and I plan on making every single minute count!" So basically - they couldn't give us full songs if they wanted to (which I'm sure they do). It must be a part of Jewel's record contract. I knew that Atlantic didn't want them offering full songs, but I didn't realise that it was legally bound. Perhaps in the future Atlantic will loosen it up. I'm sure Atlantic have full exclusive rights to everything she's recorded for the period of her record deal... and it's possibly that when she renegotiates after the next album she'll make it so she can do what she likes with live recordings etc - and isn't bound by then. But until then we're gonna have to be satisfied with clips... Steve PS - he said that if there's any problems with Unedited you should email customerservice@jeweljk.com. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 07:22:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Quattrini Subject: Re: [EDA] the new site... Funny, I was just going to write a message about the same thing. I am very dissappointed with the new site, especially since I can't even use my browser to go to it anymore. I don't mind when websites update to make themselves better, but when they go overboard and make everything unaccessible and inconvienient, I hardly call that better :( Not everyone in the world wants their desktop resolution at 1024x768 or larger, especially those of us with smaller monitors. Likewise, alot of people don't have the newest and best browsers/pc's/whatever, and updates like this just kind of alienate them. I now have three browsers on my computer. I mean, she didn't have to do that. I bet Whitney Houston wouldn't have done that!! It's just nice to hear about people in the industry actually being nice and wanting to help other people out... and not being "diva"-ish... as the phrase goes. I also think it's cool that Jewel is doing Beyonce's pay per view special thing. It's nice to know they got along and are friends. I still don't know what to think. This is so unlike anything they have done before you have to pinch yourself to remember who the band is you are listening to. It sounds more like a tribute to the band Kyuss at first listen. Then a bit of mid '90s Anthrax comes to mind. Not to mention twinges of recent Pantera here and there. I knew Jason left the band but I had no idea Kirk Hammett had as well! (little joke) THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO GUITAR SOLOS ON THIS ALBUM!!! What gives?????? One of the most talented guitarists on the planet is nowhere to be found. If it wasn't for that fact I would pretty much say this LP is a huge comeback for Metallica but without Kirk despite the renewed committment to heaviness it still leaves this fan of 20 years a little empty. One of the downsides of "St. Anger" is the drum sound. It sounds like Lars didn't even turn the snare on! Hey Lars-the sound of you beating on a Dutch Boy paint can might be innovative to you, but to the listener it gives the album an "unprofessional" feel. Maybe some repeated listenings are in order here but for now no thumbs up or down from me, I'm still scratching my head...I'd be very interested in any fan of Metallica on this list and their take on this new album.
