Actually.. I don't think that's what whoever it was that said that.. meant. A lot of us admire Jewel as a singer/songwriter as well as a person. And we admire her because she's always been true to herself. I think that person meant that if she fixes her teeth just to look better and to sell more, it shows what kind of person she has changed into. I don't think Jewel will ever fix her teeth though. And I don't think there's anything trashy about the way Jewel has been dressing. - -Tanya ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2003 13:27:23 -0700 From: "J W" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel's new website problems? maybe your resolution is too low!! turn it up! i have mine on 1024 by 768 and i have no trouble at all viewing it. i could go a lot higher but theres no need. - --Jewel Worshiper-- http://www.angelfire.com/crazy/jk_worshipers/main.html (my Jewel Page) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jewel is GOD WWJD --- What Would Jewel Do "damn Tigger, damn Tigger - Eeyore hates you, 'cause he's pieces of you" -- Jewel >From: Jason Quattrini >To: LAJEWEL10@aol.com, jewel@smoe.org >Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel's new website problems? >Date: Mon, 9 Jun 2003 12:57:23 -0700 (PDT) > >I have the same problem. I know a lot of us wanted autographs or what-not but we were really respectful. She noticed! "...I did another one of those free shows in Nashville in 2001. Afterwards, I left the venue w/ Ty, and there were all these fans that had driven across the country to see me just quietly waiting for me to cross in front of them to get to my car. They thanked me for the show and away we drove. Ty was freaked out. He had never seen anything like that before. He's used to the usual crush from fans. I really enjoy that my fans understand what I do enough to repect me for my talent and who I am. The respect is mutual." :) Take care, ~Rachel~ _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2003 18:50:45 -0230 From: "Mark Austin" Subject: [EDA] misc. Well, 0304 FINALLY came in the mail today. I had it pre-ordered and payed extra money for priority shipping to get it within 3 days of the release date. But amazon.ca screwed me over and it took twice as long as what I payed for to get it. And I just praised them up a while back as well. I sent in a complaint, but their reply didn't even answer any questions. It just said the cd will be in by the 10th. They couldn't of even read what I sent them. What a rip off! Anyways, my CD actually came with the download card, which is funny because they said people in Canada wouldn't get it. But I know that amazon.ca gets all of their stock directly from a warehouse in the states, so that probably explains it. I'm pissed that I got the card too late to get the two mp3s, again, stupid amazon rip off. But luckily thanks to makayle (who is really really really really great, I might add) I managed to get them. The Cd was great, looked like I expected, the cool light blue color (my favorite shade, I might add!) But I was expecting the same color for the cd. It was a real suprise to see the hot neon pink disc when I opened it up. It was cute. I didn't actually find the booklet that bad at all. It was the same as This Way's booklet, expect it had a couple less pictures which didn't really bother me. But I have to say the Spirit booklet was my favorite. It was a real treasure. As well, I really enjoyed the enhanced section of this cd. All I ever did with the enhanced cd of This Way was watch the Break Me studio video, and with this cd it was better in my opinion because it had more of Jewel talking and explaining in between while two songs played. It was neat. I'm really loving this cd. I listened to spirit last night, and I must say it is amazing how much shes evolved. I love spirit and this cd equally, but both in a different way. Spirit is mellow and touching while this one is fun and catchy. It seems like there will be a Jewel cd for every mood I'm in. And I can always look forward to what comes out in the future, be it an acoustic cd (which will undoubtedly come out again at SOME POINT of her career if not right away) a rock cd, pop, jazz, whatever. Its all great. In other news, welcome to the list Dan, I'm loving your posts already. And I didn't think she was dressed bad last night at all. Short shorts... woo, never saw that before. *sarcasm* I was just a little pissed to sit down through the pregame stuff and not even see her sing. I personally wish she'd sang for an NHL game again, because I enjoy hockey, and can't stand basketball. Hockey Night in Canada always shows the national anthem being sung. Oh well! I agree that people should give up lashing out at Jewel. She is doing what she wants asnd how she wants it, accept that or stop posting annoying messages. I'm not saying sharing your negative opinion on something is bad, But if you've run out of any positive things whatsoever to say about Jewel maybe you shouldn't be posting anymore. I agree that Jewel is doing what she wants. Even in her cd's thank you notes she thanks Ron Shapiro for making the music SHE WANTS, regardless of label concerns. Do you get that? The label originally never wanted her to do this. Like she said for This Way, this really means that things are going where she wants and to follow along. For the last time (okay, how many times have I said "for the last time" on this issue now...) she is not selling-out. Even if she did a commercial, all the money went to making the cd and for touring/promotion. Not to her. She didn't make the song for the razor, she made it for herself and what she believes in, so having a snippit of her song on a commercial just to cover costs is perfectly fine and NOT SELLING OUT. Even if it was money for her, I wouldn't consider it selling out. Shes just making money while doing EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS and WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN. She doesn't need anyone's permission for that. Just because you don't like the type of music doesn't mean its bad or that she is selling out. I hope I got my message and feelings across here. Anyways, I think I've run out of things to say. I'm loving this new album (I agree, just in time for summer!), and I'm looking forward to what she decides to do next, no matter what it is. I just wanted to share this experience. The other night my 20 month old daughter grabbed my hand, said "c'mon" and pulled me into the next room where 0304 was blasting on the stereo. She got me where she wanted me and dropped my hand and started dancing!!! This is the first time that she has ever danced to anything and all I could think of was how Jewel wanted this to be an album that would make you want to get up and dance. I guess that it works! Also thought that I would share my thoughts on the album. I think that it's great! The songs are all very catchy and I found myself singing along by the third listen. My daughter walks around saying "Hey You" from 2 find U. I can't stop listening to this CD. My favorites are 2 Find U, Run 2 U, 2 Become 1, Yes U Can, Becoming. You can tell that Jewel had a good time making this album. Well, that's my 2 cents....thanks for listening.
