I like to take my time and savor each one... but when I listened to '2 Find U' it all came so clear... I may be wrong but this is my theory and I'm sticking to it... There is so much raw honest emotion coming across... you can really feel her heart and the emotions she has been feeling... so my guess is that 0304 is the month of March and April that Jewel and Ty took time off from each other to figure out what direction to take their lives as well as their relationship together... or March 4th the day their break from each other started... Its one of my favorites on the album. Remember that "2 Find U" has a very upbeat Jewelness to it, like This Way did, so maybe thats not the right choice. Sweet Temptation is sexy, catchy, and the right kind of pop for the charts. I think Haunted would do great on an adult pop chart as well, but I guess we are trying to be as mainstream as possible. I just hope that the nex single is a good choice! I'm all curious now as to what the results will be. Talk about making a difference and having your voice be heard to your favorite artist. So kudos to the J-team for this awesome exercise. And since we all believe we are experts on what should be a Jewel single...hey I sent a couple email to that effect in recent weeks, I think this is really cool for all of us to get out the strengths of the different songs. When i first heard stand would be a single, I thought that was awesome. Finally, the most in depth lyrical song on the album becoming a single. I would've killed to hear the New Wild West be a single (although I did think that Do You Want to Play? would have been the best choice). However, after listening to the whole album and the song a few times, I dont think it would bode well on radio. It really wouldnt fit in with any format, while trying to make the biggest plea to pop. I think that the chorus changes to drastically from the lyrical beats to make it palatable to most radio listeners' ears. I remember the first time I heard it in full, I said, "whoa, that sure changed" and I dont know if people ould really embrace it. I think that the song that has the best chance to do well radio wise on this album is Run 2 You (and I think should be the next single). It's catchy with a great beat, and would do well on pop radio. When i first listened to the album, I automatically thought it should be the next single. Something like 2 Find You or 2 Become 1 wouldn't do well on pop radio at all. They are more AC, which lets face it, isn't the genre Jewel is actually geared towards right now. This album and her first single are both more in tune with Pop Radio than adult contemporary, and I think it would be dangerous to stray away from that in terms of what it would do to CD sales. If Run 2 You did well, I would suggest taking a chance on Stand or they could go with one of the ballads. But, it is summertime and something upbeat and catchy needs to be released. (Im not saying that the Ballads arent, they are just a bit mellower, and I think they would suit better as third singles). Does anyone else like Run 2 You? Only one other person has mentioned it. Give it a listen, and if you don't hear pop radio all over it (and possible club remix) email me back! Then again what do I know, I'm just a crazed fan who would love to actually be working for Jewel ;)....ah too bad us recent college grads have it rough right now.
