I actually won! At the last minute I won! It was last night right after she taped leno. She was absolutely adorable. I was disappointed, however, of the event itself. It turned out to be kind of lame. 75% of the people there didn't even care about Jewel ... they were bowling while Jewel was there! Plus, I REALLY thought we'd get to meet her or at least get an autographed CD. But she was really busy I guess and so she did an interview, posed for pictures (for the radio station, not the fans) and left. Oh, she changed in the bathroom before leaving into this cute little black number. hehe ;-) She was wearing a tank top and like bunchy pants that came to the knees. They were pink pants I think. The tank top was a sea green type color. I didn't catch The Tonight Show, but it sounds like she changed before coming. I think I should get a few good pictures out of this, but not sure. I'll put them up on a website as soon as I get them developed. I'm mad because I was told that only disposable camaras were allowed, but I saw plenty of people with normal camaras >:-( I swear, there were only a handful of true Jewel fans. Too bad she had to leave right away. I did get to stand about 10 feet from her! Hehe ... and George was an angel! He was so cute. Although, I think I still disapprove of him ;-) he's such a Hollywood dog ... such an LA thing to do ... to have a small dog to carry around everywhere! I didn't even get a copy of 0304. They said that if you bowled, you would get a free CD for every strike you got. But by the time I got to bowl, they ran out! And I got two Sugar Ray CDs instead! I don't even like their new song! i did grab a bunch of promo posters off the walls so at least i have those. Oh yeah ... and they gave out presigned pictures. there was also a moment of confusion when I was holding Myra's (EDA) copy of Jewel: Revealed (or whatever it's called). The photographer who took the cover shot, grabbed it and started showing Jewel in between the interviewing. Jewel was really interested in how we had the book before it was even released (Myra pre-ordered from Amazon and got it last week) and flipped through it (ooh .. she thumbed Myra's book .. hehe). Then he took my Sharpie and jewel asked who to sign it to. She was very confused about who's book it was and kept looking at the both of us. So we kind of 'talked' to Jewel. LOL. At least, that's how I'll remember it ;-) That was our 'moment.' all in all, it was an interesting night. I just thought that last night was gonna be the night that I finally would meet Jewel. It didn't happen though =\ I guess there's next time. If I keep trying at these radio contests, I'll eventually win a good one. Hehe. Elizabeth, the tennis-ball-whacking angel P.S. Thanks to Elizabeth, I got to go to this, too, as one of her guests (Myra and Kira being the others). Jewel was definitely kept "sheltered" from the fans, although I did manage to get a "hi, Larry." Jewel did get to see and react (briefly)to E, M and K, mostly relating to Myra's having the new book and Elizabeth having the pen that Jewel used to sign it (the ONLY autograph she gave) and Kira capturing it all on film. It was hard to hear the radio interview, but Jewel had her "game face" on for it, and she was giving the answers we have heard before to the questions we have heard ad nauseam before. She's back to "a snapshot of our culture in 2003/2004" as the "meaning" of the title of 0304. Jewel looked very healthy. It was fun, as always, hanging out with EDAs (these EDAs in particular); Myra, Elizabeth and Kira are way cool. No matter if they come to a sollutiton, for promotion and marketing strategies this thing that happened is bad.. The booklet is what i heard also very cheap, just two photos inside of it and i would say the production of the booklet didn4t had to cost any penny.... So yesterday it was reported that Metallica's new album would now debut on Thursday in an effort to thwart Internet piracy. Now it seems that Columbia will try the same tactic for Beyonce Knowles. They had already announced that her album would be released a couple of weeks earlier than its originally scheduled date; well today I read that now they will be releasing the album this Sunday. Which means another high profile release to stand in the way of Jewel and #1. :( I still suspect that 0304 will debut within the top 5 however, particularly given the fact that she will have a few extra days on both of these artists and she had very strong pre-sales.
