However, I posted the photo itself on another board... and that seems to be accessible for people without AOL. Here's the link: http://pub70.ezboard.com/fmusicpromosdiscussionfrm14.showMessage?topicID=2063.topic Here's the short caption for the Jewel record: Meet Jewel Kilcher, dance diva. The erstwhile poetess has jettisoned her folkie roots to make a groovalicious pop album with producer Lester Mendez, who has previously worked with Shakira and Enrique Iglesias. As bizarre as the move seems, ''Intuition,'' the new album's slinky, sardonic first single, is grabbing radio play -- so maybe Jewel's new direction will save her career, if not her soul. (June 3) Steve PS - Sweet Temptation rocks. Yeah it's poppy... but it's not THAT poppy.. plus the funky gypsy guitars are really cool, and the harmonies in the chorus are gorgeous. Jewel's new album is gonna kick major ass. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2003 01:57:14 -0400 From: "ltv" Subject: [EDA] Divas Live Did anyone record the VH1 special? It was obviously a present from both the radio station and her record company. Very sweet! Here's the link: http://www.104krbe.com/media/photos/krbe/earth_day_03/gallery3.htm Did anyone go? Steve PS - She looks fantastic. Denim mini-skirt like on the This Way tour. She's in such great shape lately. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 May 2003 13:31:25 -0400 From: KiwiLindes83@aol.com Subject: [EDA] EARTH DAY in Houston Hey Angels! Some fellow EDA's (Courtney, Corey and Derek) and I went to Houston to see our gal. The day was filled with tons of people, hot HOT temps, and the anticipation of seeing Jewel. Our main goal was to just stay alive and not pass out until after we saw her perform. Fortunately we made it! And it was SOOO worth all the sweat, sunburn and hunger pains. She was AMAZING! I don't really remember the setlist but she played a few old ones and three new songs (Intuition, 2 become 1, and what she said would be her next single, I don't remember the name) Her attitude was the same old playful Jewel, smiling the entire time! I was so glad to see her happy after seeing her a few weeks ago in southlake when she seemed kinda sad. The band was awesome as usual, T-Bone did a loooooong solo, Mark and Jewel were making fun of him because he was showing off. Stuart, Mark and Trey all recognized Corey, Courtney, and me so that was totally cool. We were on about the third row, center.. if there had been rows... it was more like we were all sardines just packed in. lol let's just say we are all very devote fans to endure what we did. But anyways I'm getting my film developed tomorrow and hopefully can have those up on my website. Sweet Temptation 2 Find U 2 Become 1 My vote is for Sweet Temptation becuase it's fun and upbeat and would do good on radio and it jsut sounds like a summer song! + + + + + + + Jewel's new album 0304 in stores June 3rd!!! + "Intuition" Makes TRL! I'm really excited about them choosing that for the next single. Ive felt that Atlantic has done a poor job generally in selecting singles....especially with this way. I thought Do You Want to Play would have been a much better choice than This Way or Break Me and would have done well at radio considering what was popular at the time. But in this case, I feel that Stand is an excellent choice. I like the opening to it, and it changes kind of suprisingly towards the chorus. It was one of my favorites of the new CD out of the ones Jewel played at "intuitionfest." The lyrics are also incredible...i felt that they are lyrically on par with WWSYS and the New Wild West, which was amusing because Jewel said before she played the song the same sentiments that I just echoed. She said that is one of the best songs lyrically that she has written, and I tend to agree. Itll be interesting to see what everyone thinks of the song after they hear it tonight. I cant wait to get the album!!! Ive been counting down the days :) *the mystic angel* Jordana "I'd rather see the world from another angle."-Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 May 2003 19:26:02 -0300 From: "Fabio (wnet)" Subject: Re: [EDA] Choose the next single Yeah, aparently "Stand" is indeed the 2nd single and that makes me very happy!!! I hope this time they will show the world Jewel's BEST songs and not just the poppiest ones. "Stand" seems to be one of Jewel's best songs ever. It's the smartest thing she's ever released lyrically, and it's just as catchy musically as Intuition.. It's damn near perfect. Walk in a corner shop, see shoplifting cops See the old lady with a gun, see the hero try to run Nothing's what it seems, I mean It's not all dirty but it's not all clean There's children paying bills There's monks buying thrills There's pride for sell in magazines There's pills for rent to make you clean Marvin Gaye, there's no brother, brother Woody Guthrie's land can't feed mother CHORUS: Mothers weep, children sleep So much violence ends in silence It's a shame there's no one to blame For all the pain that life brings If you will just take me It might just complete me Come together, we can make a stand A waitress brings me lunch We meet but do not touch On TV a priest is selling lies (?) While in the corner King's dream dies Go to the counter, pay for me and my friend A homeless man pulls out a roll And says it's on end (?) The mayor says he has no cash He said he spent it on hookers and hash CHORUS BRIDGE: You will love me (Mayor says he has no cash) I will love you You will love me (Said he spent it on hookers and hash) I will love you CHORUS TO FADE - -- Scott http://scott.rocket-fish.org/ http://syd.rocket-fish.org/ ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #217 ***************************
