Also - was it just me or was she keeping an eye on her rising hemline like Faith Hill had to do while wearing a skirt of similar length (and I use the word length in its loosest possible sense) while performing at the Grammy's? You can see her glance down once or twice maybe regretting that her fringe wasn't as long as Beyonce's. I thought that overall it was as good as it could have been. After all - they've been reaching for the last couple of years since they've begun to run out of female performers with real Diva stature. They had to add people like Whitney, Shania and Celine (who actually just frightens me more and more every time I see her - and what's with the short hair, Sandy Duncan anyone???) Jewel got about as much as she really deserves on a show called Divas - she got her recognition as a great female voice - she even got to open the show - and she got to promote the new album to a very large audience. Overall - at least the finale was more tasteful than others - Celine and Anastacia dancing to AC/DC - puhleeeeease!!! How embarrassing was that - Celine looked like Cheri Oteri making fun of Celine Dion. So - Jewel did very well - VH-1 did a good job of saving face and adding some stature to the billing - and everyone did a good job of not embarrassing themselves (except maybe for Celine - but, hey she's local now that she's in Vegas - - she had to be there). Can I, for one moment, sit back and admire the saucyness of that girl? She looked fantastic. I particularly liked the arrivals outfit (black leather boob tube deal) and the outfit for Intuition. I also think the concept for Intuition sounds really cool. I was waiting for that song to turn into some kind of a stage show at some point... and I think Divas Duets is the perfect place to do it! I was thinking maybe the VMA's or something. And finally - Jewel singing You are the sunshine of my life with Stevie Wonder has got to be like.... on my top 5 most dreamt about Jewel duets. I LOVE Stevie Wonder, and I LOVE that song... and, well, we all know that I LOVE Jewel.... so if somebody can rip an MP3 of that ASAP that would be extremely pleasing to me. Am I the only one that is loving this whole new image thing? It's like... FINALLY, Jewel has lightened up and started having some fun with the whole game of the music industry. And I couldn't be happier about it. It must be a bit of a drag to be percieved as a really serious, pretentious, hippie-chick with no sense of humour (which is how a lot of people/the media percieve Jewel).... and I'm GLAD she's trying to shake that image, and show people she's got more to her than that. I think those of you that are stressing over it just need to lighten up and see it for what it is - Jewel having fun. There's no deep meaning when it comes to clothes. It's just fun. I mean let's face it - the music industry is two things... it's style and it's substance. Often you have one without the other....... but the new Jewel is BOTH.
