Luckily now that I am not working during the day I can actually attend this one. Yay! If any EDA's want to stick around and see another show in the evening I've organized a showcase along the lines of "Soul City Cafe" called STARS IN THE MAKING where a bunch of people including myself will be playing half hour sets. I don't know that I really consider myself a "Star in the Making"--it's kind of tongue-in-cheek, but some of the other people on the lineup are pretty hot and upcoming and worth checking out. Every year there are divas and there a guest. For example, last year Cyndi Lauper was a guest of Cher, and a few years back Faith Hill was a guest on Brandy. I don't know if Jewel as brought a guest, perhaps it is Lisa Marie, since she just came out, or she might now show her guest until tonight. As a DIVA she will be performing one or two duets, as well as one or two solo with her band. For sure she will be singing Intuition. If she sings any more than that of her own, other than a duet, they will probably be Standing Still and/or Foolish Games. Depending on how political she is feeling, she might even do Stand. However, keep in mind that Jewel will be opening the show with a duet with Beyonce. This time I think she's gone in a direction that, musically, I can tolerate; however, I hope it's a phase. She is using her wit to make a statement in the face of pop and being smart about it, but she is still cheapening herself. I still think that there is more to this than what we see and what she says. She said that she wants to see how she can stay around for ten more years. A good way to do that through mainstream television is to use shock value: get people talking. I wish she would have shocked us in a different way. She's always been a prophet of love; I hate to see her dwell on sex.
