Well, Jewel had a fairly lousy week at radio this week.... which is dissapointing. She rose from #24 to #22 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart with gains of around +200. Mid-week she was as high as #20, and gaining at +500, but then all of a sudden her gains just started plummeting, and two other songs overtook her before the final update (which is what the chart is taken from). #22 was Standing Still's peak, so it would be very sad if this song peaked at that same number. I don't think that will happen, I think Jewel will recover in the coming weeks. But, it would seriously help if you guys called radio stations bigtime this week and requested the song. I have a feeling if things don't improve, the J-team will be launching a radio request campaign similar to what they ran when Standing Still was at radio. Two big stations to call/email are Z100 in New York and KIIS in Los Angeles. Both these stations are playing the song, but not nearly as much as they should be... that applies particularly to Z100. So if you live in the New York or Los Angeles areas please call these stations and request Intuition. I might post email addresses/phone numbers later on tonight or this week. At Hot AC she's still doing fine. She stayed at #15, but her gains are still relatively healthy (+120). The reason she didn't move up is because there is a huge spin different between #15 and #14, which she's almost past... so she'll start rising again on that chart this week. This is not the end of the world, or the end of this song. This happened a couple of weeks ago (really fast drops in gain), and she did manage to recover quite well... so I'm hoping the same thing happens in the next week or two. Jewel's songs typically take a long time to climb to their peak position, so I'm certain that the song isn't over. In fact I think it will still be gaining spins when the album comes out. Being on TRL should definitely help the song, so continue to vote for that as well. And call your local pop station to request the song. Don't forget, almost every station has added the song to their playlist.... so half the battle is won. We just need to get these guys to play it MORE! It definitely can be done. matchbox 20's latest single looked like it was gonna peak at around #22 a few weeks back, but they pressed on with low spin gains each week, and now it looks like it'll go Top 10. I'm predicting the same thing will happen with Jewel... but requesting will help a lot. later Steve. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2003 00:17:15 +1000 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] Z100/KIISFM request lines Hey Guys Two of the most influential stations in the country are Z100 in New York, and KIIS FM in Los Angeles. A lot of the smaller stations around the country follow radio trends set by these two stations... particularly Z100. They have both added Intuition, but neither are playing it at nearly the level they should be. If we can get these two stations to increase Intuition's rotations, the song has a much greater chance of becoming a hit. The general theory is that radio stations track where people call from, and can tell if a caller is a real listener or not. So it's best not to call if you don't live in an area that recieves the radio station. However, they can't really track emails... so anyway can write in and request the song. Here are the details: Z100: Request Line: *1-800-242-0100*** Email: there are several different people to email. Paul "Cubby" Bryant, I believe, has something to do with programming. He also originally spoke highly of Intuition as part of that "Discovery Club" thing. Here is his email address: cubby@z100.com I'll post other email addresses of other DJ's and people to contact later on in the week. Maybe each day we can email a different person. KIIS: Request Line: 1 (800) 520-1027 OR 520-1027 (for local LA people) Email: http://www.kiisfm.com/contact.html - go to that address and there's a form you can fill out. Seriously guys, take five minutes out of your day to do this, cause it will have an effect. These two radio stations are extremely influential and could make or break this song at this point. I'm sure I'm not the only one who really doesn't want Jewel to have another song missing the Top 20.... when she used to consistently top the chart. Let's show everyone that Jewel still has it! Kelly + + + + + + ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 May 2003 17:45:01 EDT From: SullMa84@aol.com Subject: [EDA] My NYC Trip: Tribeca and Central Park! We arrived in NYC on Thursday, May 11th, and rushed to our hotel, the Skyline on 49th and 10th Avenue. It was rather nice, but we had to rush out to TRL. For those of you who watch it but have never been in the studio, you'd be surprised! The studio is sooooooo small! But anyways Randy Jackson from American Idol was on and he talked for a while, and La La, Qadus, and Damian hosted. La La seamed rather bitchy, she hid in a room whenever she wasn't on camera and was always playing with her hair. But as soon as the camera came on she was all perky and stuff. The hosts didn't do a good job connecting with their audience at all! But anyways Jewel was #7, and before they played a snippet of the video, La La gave a quick speech on the Central Park show on Saturday. We left TRL and brought pizza back to the hotel,...a large one for $10! Can't get that at pizza hut in Milwaukee! So the next day we went to the WTC and made our way into battery park. We saw a stage and wondered what was going on and found out that it was the Tribeca Film Festival and that Sean Paul, Robbie Williams, and Norah Jones were performing. We then heard a rumor buzzing around that Jewel was just added at the last minute. So we sat in an area behind the stage, and I saw Stuart and knew that Jewel would be there. We were quickly escorted out of that area of Battery Park before Jewel came on for her soundcheck. We made it to the street, which was as close as you could get while Jewel took the stage for a soundcheck. By this time there were a few hundred people lined up around the fence. She did Standing Still, Stand, and Sweet Temptation. During one song, she said "All of you at the fence, can you hear everything alright? If you can wave!" So we all waved and then she said "I think you should all jump the fence....oh wait I'll get in trouble." We found out that the show was free but that you needed tickets before hand. Once you got in with a ticket, they gave you a wrist band so you could come and go as you please. We got a security guard near the fence to give us two wristbands, becuase I saw him get some earlier. We got into the stage area and were about 20 feet from the stage. Suchin Chen and Sway from MTV hosted, as well as Rachel Perry and the guy from the top 20 countdown from VH1. Whoppi Gollberg came out and introduced Sean Paul, but I don't remember who introduced Jewel! But anyways he came on and was like "I don;t know why you are looking at me when the most beautiful girl in music is over there" and everyone went wild. She started off by saying Happy Birthday to someone, and then went into Standing Still. She then sang Stand and kept looking at me cause I knew the words! She waved and mostly hung on on the side of the stage that we were on, opposite of the screen. She then asked the audience what single they wanted to hear, YWMFM, Hands, or Foolish Games. She already had her guitar strapped on for hands, but instead sang Foolish Games. She closed with Intuition. The next day was IntuitonFest. We got there super earlier and there for got in the front row for the show, slighly left of center. The band came out and started playing the opening of Hands several times, and then Jewel walked on with her guitar, plugged in, and they started play. She looked great! She then talked about how Intuition was doing so well and how surprised she was that it made TRL. She said she was amazed that almost 10 years into her carreer that she is still enjoying success. She than sang intuitoin, and then went into Standing Still. Some guy gave her flowers and shook her hand right before "Do you love me..." SHe then said she'd be doing some new songs, so "bootleggers get ready!" and she sang Stand and Leave the lights on. She then introduced DYW2P by talking about how Randy Newman was in the studio next door while she was recording and she was stunned and wondered if it was weired that she knew when he had to pee! She then said she didn't think so eather and sang the song. She then presumably called Ty to hear 2 Become 1 and and he answered she put the phone in her bra and played the song. She than sang 2 find U. The she took a poll and played Carnivore and introduced it as a dark song, and wondered why we wanted to hear it. After that she did a Race Car Driver story and then played that followed by YWMFM. The band returned and she talked about Divas and how she was opening the show with Beyonce Knowles and VH1 wanted to know what song they wanted to do together and she said Life Uncommon and hoped that would be the one. She then sang Life Uncommon. She then sang Sweet Temptation, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, and Everybody Needs... She then introduced Haunted as a song that we would probably like cause we like Carnivore. She closed with WWSYS, and during T-Bones solo, she ran off stage a grabbed someone's kid and then returned him before she started singing. Her encore was Foolish Games. Also, Ron Shaprio was there, because she commented on how he was talking on his phone while she was singing. So we got sooooooo much free ice cream becuase they had a lot left. We also got like 5 gift bags with the razor and a shirt. So thank you NYC so much for the fun! It is a great place and everyone is so friendly!!! And the subway wasn't too hard to figure out and Times Square is awesome! Our flight home got cancelled so we were put onto Midwest Express instead of ATA and that flight was delayed and we didn't get back to Milwaukee until 11pm. I LOVE NYC!! We will be back! Victoria, Max and I were front row, a little bit on the right. Vic took great pictures, we're gonna put them on our website tonite. It was so sweet when Jewel took her nephew with her on stage while T-Bone was playing the intro of WWSYS. Amy, we met the guy you're talking about, the guy who gave the roses to Jewel, he talked to her before the show and told her how he met Jewel last week in NYC and he hugged her :-) We also asked him if he was an EDA.
