Well you know how you can make a comment about the song and they run some of them underneath the video (just like in jewel's video where she makes fun of it)? Well - I think it'd be funny if one day we all voted and we all wrote in the caption "I like Jewel's music way better now that's she's dancing! SCREEEEAAAMM!".... which is exactly what it says in Jewel's video. I dunno... I just think it'd be hilarious if the video were on TRL and that were the caption........ oh the irony. Anyways - let's do it! You can vote as many times as you want... and it takes like 5 minutes. So everyone, on monday... vote a few times in a row with that caption. It'd crack me up if that comment actually made it during the broadcast. :) Steve. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 2003 11:42:41 -0300 From: "Fabio (wnet)" Subject: [EDA] Setlists ************************************ May 10, 2003 IntuitionFest 2003 FREE Central Park Concert Rumsey Playfield, 69th Street, Central Park, New York, NY Soul City Cafe Artists Openers: Rebeka Reed & Scooter Scudieri Jewel: Band Set 1: Hands, Intuition, Standing Still, Leave The Lights On, Stand, Do You Want To Play, 2 Become 1, 2 Find U Solo: Carnivore, Race Car Driver, You Were Meant For Me Band Set 2: Life Uncommon, Sweet Temptation, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime, Haunted, Who Will Save Your Soul Encore: Foolish Games ************************************ May 9, 2003 100% NYC: A Concert Celebrating the Tribeca Film Festival Battery Park, New York, NY Jewel's set (with her band): Standing Still, Stand, Foolish Games, Intuition ************************************ May 8, 2003 WPLJ FM Stududios, New York, NY interview, 2 Become 1(live acoustic) ************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 2003 11:58:23 -0300 From: "Fabio (wnet)" Subject: [EDA] WPLJ Guys, lots of Jewel stuff on www.wplj.com . Fabio ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 2003 11:46:56 EDT From: W1GGY2@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Central Park Show I had a lovely day in Central Park yesterday. I missed the gathering because I was running late (as usual!). The show wasn't nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. Possibly less people even than the Pantene Pro-Voice show. The show was very good, of course, and lasted....maybe an hour and a half? I didn't have a watch on so that's just a guess. She opened with Hands, then Intuition, then Standing Still so I was starting to think "oh great, its greatest hits hour" but then she moved on into some new stuff and older stuff. I think most has been mentioned. The crowd ate Carnivore up (no pun intended - hehe). I was right in the front but off to the side standing next to the wire fence that seperated the crowd from the VIP area and for a while a guy was standing right next to me on the other side of the fence that I thought looked vaguely familiar. I kept thinking that after the show someone was going to say to me "did you know you were standing right next to...so-and-so?" and so it was that after the show Abel let me know it was Ty. After the show a guy came up to us and wanted to know if he could ask us a question...I thought he was going to ask if we were EDA's or something because he seemed sort of embarassed like he thought he knew us but actually he asked if we knew if she had anymore dates planned in the area. Then he started telling us how he was the guy who climbed up on the guard rail to hand Jewel a bouquet of roses and how she winked at him & stuff. So I asked if he was an EDA but he said "no, I don't get into that mailing list crap". LOL. Then he started saying "I guess she's still with that Ty guy, I've got to get him out of the picture". Now we were getting weirded out so I sort of joked that this guy was who she wrote "Haunted" about and he was like "heh, no, but anytime she's in Connecticut I'll be there". Uh, ok then. All in all it was a fun day and we had a great time walking around the park afterwards seeing all the cool and weird entertainment that happens there. He is a brilliant singer and he was funny and witty and cute. Then, we go to meet him after he plays, and he is totally silent and uninterested. He hung around all day on campus listening to the other bands (but mostly sitting in his tour bus). Then my friends and I went out to dinner with his BAND, not him, because he was being an ass and wouldnt talk to any of us. I asked for his autograph at one point and tried to talk to him and I suppose he thought he was too good to talk to any of us. Anyway, we gave him numerous chances to be cool, and he was talking to his friends and tour people and laughing, but he never showed any sign of being personable with his fans. I had a blast with his band and we took them around town in my car, but I was extremly dissapointed in meeting Jason. I have some pics with him, and a poster with a heart and his name (which look like boobs..seriously) but he sucks. Its crazy because he was so good on stage. ANyway, go see his show, but don't talk to him. thats all--katie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 2003 20:26:59 -0400 From: "Elizabeth Vickery" Subject: [EDA] meeting jason mraz wow, i can't believe you had that experience. I met Jason after the Jewel concert in Atlantic City in November, and he couldn't have been nicer! he signed my cd and i gave him a flower and he was so flattered. Anyway, everyone has different experiences meeting people. maybe he was just having a bad day, i don't know. but i thought he was great! ~liz _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 May 2003 02:22:40 +0100 From: "Tom H" Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: merting Jason Mraz <> You all know I'm a big fan of Mraz's, so this is pretty obvious, but I am going to stick up for him here... Whenever you meet any band/artist, you're not guaranteed to catch them at their best. We've all heard our fair share of "Jewel is a bitch" stories to know that she's not always the most polite to her fans. Which is cool, because artists don't really owe us more than what we pay for - which is a great album and a great live show (something which neither Jewel nor Mraz has failed to give us *yet*). The fact that you say you "gave him numerous chances to be cool" says it all - he doesn't need to 'be cool' to you - he doesn't even know you. Have you ever been to a party where you don't know many people and you're not in the mood to socialise, so you just stick with the people you know? That's just how it is sometimes - Mraz spends almost every day playing music and talking to fans. I'm sure he gets a little sick of it sometimes, as would you. And, seriously, you got your pic taken with Jason *and* his autograph - what more do you expect? That's a hell of a lot more than you'd get from Madonna, or even John Mayer or Jewel. Personally, when I met Mraz he was cool - even got to sit down for a beer and a chat with him for 20 minutes before the show... But I wouldn't have cared if he didn't talk to me, because the show was incredible and that's what I paid for at the end of the day. Next time you go to see Mraz, say hi again - he'll probably talk to you this time, because he's well known for being really nice to fans. Tell him off for being so rude the last time you tried to talk, aswell, hehe. Just don't get pissed because someone had an off day... I agree with you completely. Number one - I don't think we should automatically be nice to someone simply because they are a celebrity. They should earn our kindness and respect, and I know for a fact that a lot of celebrities would rather earn that and feel rewarded than just have it given to them.:) Another thing - I have bad days a lot. So do people we admire - such as Mraz and our beloved Jewel. A lot of people will reply to this with "What do they have to complain about?" And.. Sometimes you never know. You look at me and think "What would she have to complain or be upset about." Unknowing of the crap that I've been going through.:D The only time I've been upset about anything remotely related to a celebrity.. Is August 29th of last year, my 18th birthday. I got front row tickets to see Jewel. :) Thanks to the Higher Elevations EDAs. Anyway - after the show, a few people were standing around the back door to catch a glimpse of Jewel as she leaves. A lot of us with our cameras out. I was so excited about the show and everything and I had my digital camera ready to go.. But then one of her "roadies" or whatever, looks over at his friend and says "I love seeing all of these little people standing around with their cameras.. Knowing I can take them away." That was a little ridiculous - especially since he said it loud enough, purposely, for me to hear. He also said a few not very nice things about Jewelto me - something I don't think is something a "Roadie" is supposed to do. Anyway.:D Thanks again for the email.
