Hey All, I just opened my newest issue of People-May 19th-to my pleasant surprise there is a pic of Jewel and Ty, the same one that was in the New York Post this past week...with Ty carrying "George" lol anyway..the caption says: Jewel roped in her on-again sweetie, rodeo champ Ty Murray, who toted the pop stars pup in New York City. A source confirms that the couple who split in march, recently reconciled. Jewels new CD, 0304, is due in June. Well, then Hooray for them!!! Just thought I would share..all of yall going to see her tomorrow in NYC have a blast!! I watched on ppv for the heck of it (had a free one due), expecting another insipid teen pop tart, err, star vehicle like Crossroads ( I actually do like Britney's music and her choreography, but that movie was clearly just there to drain more money from her teen fans). Instead, I saw a well-directed, sensitive story. I was amazed how well Mandy Moore and Shane West did as actors. The scene when she tells him about her leukemia was incredible, I actually found myself holding my breath! At least, until I wanted to scream at his character to run after her :) I liked it enough I grabbed the DVD used from Blockbuster for 10 bucks. :D Oh, speaking of movies and DVDs, I just picked up Amelie on DVD at Target for only $14.44! This appears to be the same 2 disc set that was selling for $30 last year! If you haven't seen it, this movie is HILARIOUS. Fabio ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 May 2003 21:51:11 -0400 From: FreckledAngel@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Had a great day at Jewel Central Park Show Jewel was awesome in Central Park today. Got there a little after she started. Started running towards Summerstage from afar as I heard her playing INTUITION. Then Standing Still. Got there and in no problem and wriggled my way to a great view of our lovely Jewel. She played some new stuff and old stuff. Cute how she called a significant other just before she played 2 Become 1 and then put the cell phone in her T shirt so he could hear. I didn't much care for her 80's-ish style and the cheezy pink belt around her jeans, but she was charming as always and sounded great. I loved the story she told before playing Race Car Driver. What a scary dude! Her band was great. I was very happy. Some of the songs she played (in no particular order): LMJLMA, Standing Still, Intuition, a creepy one called Haunted about a stalker, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime (with a great opening guitar by Stuart Mathis), WWSYS, YWMFM, Carnivore, Do You Want to Play? and others... Nice crowd, the sun came out, I was very happy and Jewel was her usual personable sexy self.....got a free Shick razor and some ice cream and had the pleasure of meeting T.J. from the Soul City Cafe website. All in all, it was a lovely day. I even saw Jewel exiting with her bro in his van and sent her an early birthday wish. Jewel sounded great, looked great, was a lot of fun and gave a great show as always.... I don't know what it was, but I fell in love with her all over again. I didnt think she was dressing cheesy eighties at all. She had on jeans and a funky blue tank top that was rolled up a bit, wiht a belt...more of the regular jewel concert style that we are all used to seeing her in...with a little tummy showing ;). I got there early and was right up front and center and it was a great show. Let me just say to all you ppl whining about the album: Shaddup! :) I'm just kidding. But in all honesty, the new stuff sounds great....I think stand could be one of her best lyrical songs lately, and Haunted is one of the (if not the most) intense songs I have ever seen her play live. I also really liked 2 Become 1 and Sweet Tempations, and Leave the Lights On, and Doin Fine. Let me just say that Intuition is not an accurate represenation of this album. If you don't like Intuition, do not think that you will hate this album. There are some absolute gems on it. Also, do not judge your opinion of the album on 30 second clips if you heard them. Songs like stand completely change after those 40 seconds, and Haunted has a great vocal part to it in the middle of the song. I am so excited after seeing her today, and cannot wait till the CD comes out. Damnit, why does June 3rd have to be so far away!!!!!!! (Maybe I should focus more on graduating college, which comes first). The tour is going to be great too, as her band just rocks. T-Bone as always was incredible (as was Stuart) and was just completely playing around with the crowd and had a great solo intro to Who Will Save Your Soul. Her new drummer, Trey is also awesome and was just having a lot of fun with her and T-Bone. You could see that he really was getting into everything he was playing and just really enjoyed it. Overall, it was beautiful out...I had a great view of Jewel, I got a free $7 razor that I was thinking of buying, and I became so excited about the new album. So moral of the story is: The new album is going to be incredible! *the mystic angel* Jordana "I'd rather see the world from another angle."-Jewel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #197 ***************************
