Go to http://ninemsn.com.au/mobilecentral/hotmail_messenger.asp ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Apr 2003 21:53:20 +1000 (EST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Shannon=20Penberthy?= Subject: [EDA] JEWEL ON AUSTRALIAN RADIO okay, so i was having a good day at uni to start with right and i come home to find this jewel poster that i have been waiting to receive sitting on my bed, so this in turn makes my already good day even better. i then check my email and i find a link to the launch website to watch the intuition video. i knew at the time that it was too early according to the email to watch the video, but i figured i'd test my luck. anyhow, when i got there i saw that there was only the old videos to watch, so i decided to watch down so long instead. at the end of it, it carried on to another video, and that was when i heard the recognisable accordian playing. i was SO EXCITED!!! so anyhow, i managed to watch the intuition video about 5 times, but i could only view it after watching another of jewel's videos first - not that that was all difficult to do. so by this time i was feeling so happy. so i headed off to work, had an good night at work, which is pretty unusual these days, but anyhow. then i get in my car and i'm driving home flicking through the radio stations and i turn to b105 - probably the most listened to fm station in brisbane - and they had on kyle and jackie o's hot 30 countdown. and on this every night they have sort of a playoff between two new songs and the listeners ring up to vote for which one they liked the best and then the winner is carried on over to the following night. anyhow, the first contestant was some rapper fella called jay - c or jay-z or something i dont know. and then, i hear our girl and i'm so excited!!!! they didn't play the whole song though, probably up to the end of the second verse, or second chorus. anyhow i start dialling profusely, most of the time it was engaged but i got through about 5 or 6 times to vote. anyhow, to cut an already long story a wee bit shorter, it was the closest playoff thingy that they reckon they have ever had - or at least have had in recent times. jewel lost by only 4 votes :( but even though she lost, it's still a really good sign. this countdown is probably one of the most widely broadcast programs around australia, and she's getting airplay on it, and the listeners are liking what they hear. so hopefully she will be added to more playlists and we'll be hearing her more often on the local stations. anyhow, sorry for boring you all, i just had a really great day and i was just so excited and i had to tell people who understand just how exciting this is. everyone i know tells me to shut up because i talk about her too much. ahahahahahhaha anyways, i now have a great big grin on my face. peace, shan - aussie angel ===== 'Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom, no longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from.
