Intuition did great in it's first official week at radio. Michiel's post probably had people a bit confused - his information is a week old and a bit out of context. At Mainstream Top 40 Intuition is being played on 94 stations (this seems to be increasing by ten stations every day or two!) out of a total of about 130 stations, and jumped from #100 on last week's pop chart to #48 this week, with an increase of +725 spins (the 5th highest gainer, ahead of J-lo!). The total spins on that format are almost 900. At Hot AC it's being played on 47 of about 90 stations, and jumped from New and Active #4 (essentially #54) to somewhere between #20 and #30 with an increase of +512 (the 2nd highest gainer) spins. Total spins being around 650. I will be able to give you the exact chart position at some point this week when it comes out, but for now I only have access to the Top 20 and not the Top 50... but considering where songs with around 650 spins placed on that chart last week it's pretty safe to say it'll be around #25. At Hot AC the song is performing pretty much on par with Standing Still. It's not quite as dominating as Standing Still was in Nov. 2001 because Train's new single is also turning into a huge hit... but it's still very competitive. Standing Still's debut in the Top 50 was at #23, and Intuition will probably have a similar, but perhaps slightly lower debut. But the real good news is that at Mainstream the song is kicking ass right now! It's gaining really well and the spins and stations are increasing substantially on a daily basis. My feeling is it'll have a pretty smooth ride into the Top 30, possibly the Top 20, and once it gets there that is where we MAY have a problem. See, often songs from successful 90's artists kind of run into problems once they reach the mid-20's. Hopefully, because Intuition is so pop-friendly, it won't have that problem. But it's still possible. So it'd definitely help if you guys called your local stations and just reaffirmed how much you like the song etc... and request it. My personal feeling is that radio programmers WANT to play songs from 90's artists, but are obligated to play what's "in". However, when a 90's artists does manage to release something that fits the pop format (eg - No Doubt with Hey Baby and the other songs off Rock Steady) they tend to embrace that song. I'm hoping that's what will happen with Intuition. So far so good. If you guys are at all interested in all of this, I can keep this info coming every week. Doesn't take me long and I'm excited to see how the song is going to do. :) Steve. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2003 08:19:27 +0000 From: "Mark UK²ºº³" Subject: [EDA]Houston fans Keep Saturday 24th May clear ;) _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ Use MSN Messenger to send music and pics to your friends http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2003 22:53:28 +1000 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] correction... Hey Guys I know I said Jewel debuted at #48 on the pop chart with an increase of +700 spins. I was wrong. She actually debuted at #42 with +900 (total around 1000)! That'll be confirmed later in the week, but I'm pretty sure that's right. Again, sorry for the confusion. I gave you the data before the final weekly airplay update occurred.
