Sure they sponsored that contest, but it was a different thing. The company sponsored the female songwriter/singing contest. Also, this sounds like Jewel REALLY will be a sponsor for the razor ... and they're using her song as its promotional song. So, I'm seeing it in commercials or something. If that happens, it will be weird I think. I don't really care that much about it, but I just wanted to point out why I people might think the Pantene thing is different from Schick. IN the shampoo case, the company was doing an event and asked her to perform and help with the contest, but this time, the company is sponsoring her performance. There's a slight difference there .. or it might be symantics ;-) Elizabeth Thus conscience does make cowards of us all; And thus the native hue of resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought - Shakespeare, "Hamlet" Perfect for the Jewel Kilcher Fan! I was wondering what is meant with initial release. Is this the first release in the USA? When I wait till the album is released in The Netherlands will that include the video too? If not I'm going to preorder it from the states. Someone who has some answers here or knows how and where to get them? Thanks in advance - - Floris _________________________________________________________________ Chatten met je online vrienden via MSN Messenger. http://messenger.msn.nl/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 06 Apr 2003 01:03:29 +1000 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] Jewel's new album ranked #20 at Amazon.com Wow... Jewel upcoming album is currently ranked #20 on amazon.com. I remember a few days ago it was ranked #80 or something.. and then it went back down into the 1000's... now it's #20!!! I guess a surge of jewel fans are buying for the limited edition content... JeweLink must be big! I was at an event a couple months ago and in the gift bag was this new women's razor called "Intuition". It's actually kind of cool. Instead of having to use shaving cream while you shave your legs, it has this solid stuff surrounding the blades that dissolves as you shave. It cuts shaving time in half and it leaves your legs really soft! I know I sound like a promotional person, but I just really like the thing. So, at least Jewel's not promoting a crappy product. Also, something else might make you feel a little better. I don't think that Jewel named her single "Intuition" just because it matched Schick's new product's name, or that the razor was named after the song. Although Jewel is very famous, I don't think that if a bunch of executive were sitting in a room and were trying to find a song with which to associate their product, that they would think of Jewel. Also, when they originally promoted the free concert in the park, no mention was made of Schick. If they had really been planning this for a long time, we would have heard from the beginning who was sponsoring the event. I really think that this is just some coincidence. When they realized that the two had the same names, they realized they could cross-promote. I just hope we don't see Jewel in the next Pepsi commercial! Actually, this is probably US magazine, and not US Weekly (which is a different magazine than US magazine). Ms Witherspoon is on the cover of the newest US magazine ( http://www.usmagazine.com/ ) Mike ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #135 ***************************
