Hey i finally heard the new song.... And its cool... not my Fav. but you have to respect her for what is on her heart to sing and write about.... And if you dont like it then voice you opinion by not buying it.... A guy i work with didnt like it and said Jewel is done if the public doesnt like it (He is a musican and a music snob.. www.nextinlinemusic.com its Jason... so his opinion doesnt count too much...) So Jewel and all artist need to weigh that against what they want to produce... do they want it to reflect them and what they want to put out, or do they just want to please us, and sell out to us. I look at it like any of my friends that are musicians, they are my friends and i dont have any musical talent, so i wont complain too much..... Same with Jewel.... She is dear to us all, and we need to take the Good with the Bad...... and hope theres not too much bad, but we all have different tastes and fav.... Keep it up Jewel.... I found it funny. Jewel is just a human being, not god. I have to say that much. I love her with all my heart but I don't idol her like shes some sort of golden calf. Also, Intuition has GROWN on me in just an hour. I can't stop listening to it. Just give it a shot, it really does grow on you. I don't love it to death, there are far better Jewel songs, but its still a good, catchy, yet relevant song. On oldschool Jewel: She hasn't forgotten who she is. There will always be her an good ol big blue, don't worry about that. There will just be experimental stuff in between. I will enjoy this album and support her, and then I will have my breath taken away by an acoustic album (Well, she only said it once I believe, but I still believe she will make it acoustic!). Jewel should remember exactly what caused us to follow her and devote ourselves to her so much, which is what we heard in PoY. Touching, honest, simplistic, and beautiful music. Don't worry if you don't like one song. Buy the album just to make sure. And don't think you've ever lost the Jewel you love, because that Jewel will always be there. Peace! My best friend and I have been discussing this and we both say the same >>thing about everyone who doesn't like it...stop bitching about it on the list, put in POY or JewelStock or This >>Way or Spirit or whatever, and don't buy the new one. This is really ridiculous "stop bitching about it on the list"... so people are only supposed to write into the list if they absolutely love the song, they aren't allowed to voice their opinion if they dislike it? that's just stupid. The vast majority of the list has been people saying how good the song is, only a few people have said they didn't like it, but you're already telling people to stop bitching about it. It's a DISCUSSION, people are allowed to voice BOTH sides of it, whether they are like or dislike it. I, for one, would rather see a healthy discussion with both sides being represented then just read 75 posts about how much the song rocks over and over again. now on to the other person: > what im disappointed in are the EDAS!!! i can't believe you people! seems > like Jewel can't EVER change or she'll let you down. this makes me > extremely upset!!! PEOPLE CHANGE!!! DEAL WITH IT!! Jewel can change. It doesn't mean everyone has to like it. Just because I am a fan of Jewel does NOT mean I have to like every single thing she does. Get a grip, no one has said anything about how they are pissed off with her changing and won't ever listen to her again, all they are saying is they don't like intuition, and if the whole album is like that, they won't buy it. THEY HAVE THAT RIGHT. You shouldn't be disappointed in people on the list because they aren't worshipping everything Jewel does.... a real fan of someone doesn't just like everything that person puts out because it's by that person.... but they still like the artists *regardless* of the the fact that they don't like some things they do. They aren't brainwashed into thinking that everything the artist does is amazing, > poor Jewel. just think how she'd feel if you told her to her face that you > absolutely HATE her new style. She'd be crushed! I think she's taken enough criticism from music critics and fans alike to not be "crushed" by someone saying they don't like what she's doing, it comes with the territory. >if its was anyone she can > count on it would have the EDAs, and now that even that! all you guys care > about are yourselves... not Jewel at all. go ahead and flame me if you > want, i don't care. i'm sticking up for Jewel no matter what! Really, can we all stop being so dramatic? Since when does expressing your opinion that you don't really like a song translate into being selfish and only caring about yourself? Just because we like Jewel's music does not mean we have to like ALL of it... and that doesn't make someone selfish because they don't share YOUR views that everything that Jewel does is perfect because it's done by Jewel. I, for one, still love Jewel after hearing Intuition.... I don't know if I really like it though. I don't hate it, but I can definately say I've liked other stuff by her more. Maybe it will take time to grow on me, or maybe I'll never like it. If her entire album does sound like this, there is a very good chance I wouldn't be buying it, as someone else said. That doesn't mean me, or anyone else who decides this, is less of a Jewel fan than you, or selfish because we aren't willing to part with our hard earned money to buy something we won't listen to.... and most of all it *does not* mean I don't support Jewel changing, or understand. I support her if this is what she wants to do, I say go for it, evolve as an artist, and I want her to do what makes her happy, but that doesn't mean I have to buy it if I don't like it, and it doesn't mean I have to take my opinion off the list and start listing to POY on repeat or something.... I'm entitled to my opinion to say I don't like it as much as you are entitled to say you love it, so stop bitching at those of us who don't like it and telling us to go somewhere else just because we don't agree with you. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2003 16:27:36 -0800 From: "Jewel Worshiper" Subject: Re: [EDA] uuuuuuuuuuum...... no, in fact i am not exagerating. people worship buddha and jahova, and jesus christ. why is it so weird that i worship Jewel? its so not fair that you're telling me who i can and can't choose to be MY GOD. does god have to have special powers or something to be named God? i don't get it. Some of her fans like different incarnations better than others. But, she's held in high esteem by most. Give Jewel a chance here - it's only one song. Later, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2003 19:34:18 -0500 (EST) From: Subject: [EDA] My Thoughts On Intuition This song is really growing on me, in fact, I've had it in my head ever since I heard it this morning! I think it's good when an artist tries something new, it can also increase the fan base which can't hurt. I think Jewel is very bold in taking her music in a new direction. I just hope the new album isn't too "Britney-esque" if you know what I mean, although Intuition has that feel to it. Let's face it, if an artist always did the same kind of music, it can get boring after a while. It'd be like playing the same song over & over which gets very monotonous. So maybe that's why Jewel is trying something new with the next album? Anyway, I like Intuition & I'm really looking foward to hearing the rest of the album! http://forums.delphiforums.com/dafanclub http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dafanclub http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jewelfans ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #124 ***************************
