That is going to happen when an artist goes a new direction and when jewel is going to write new songs she can attract new fans. I am sure that Jewel will keep her fans although for example a lot of hardcore fans from the list back to 1995/1997 her accoutic highlight years have been vanishing from the list. I am an active member since i heard you were meant for me in 1997 on tv in holland. I didn4t realise that this unique singer would visit holland to do accoustic shows, but since 1998 i have been going actively to shows of jewel in europe and america. Now speaking in 2003 i have hit the counter at #40 shows, and many more will follow. I keep support Jewel whenever she releases a new record. i have seen the spirit ara when she toured with doug pettibone , steve poltz, steve georgia and bradey blade and tony hall. That was a great band and then i toured to see jewel in california in 2000, that was another great moment for me. Jewel sang accoustically and then in 2002 her This Way tour kicked off and i went to see also 12 shows from her accoustic New wild west tour. So yeah i say more fans will join the list and be happy about the new stuff that jewel will make, i am convinced a number one hit and millions of record sales by jewel will be her success. And let4s bring the new fans under attention how great jewel is in terms of performing just with a guitar. They can read back all the great digests and the list manager mike can tell them how to behave.I think i will commit myself for jewel4s music forever, because it inside my heart. My heart bleeds red for jewel4s music and for jewel4s personality. No other artist can make me feel like jewel does. It is a deeper feeling, pride and admiration that i have for jewel. The great songs she has written, the many great shows i have seen her, her character , her talents, all of this reminds me to keep fan and what to sacrifice to stay a fan hehe! Jewel always will gain new fans and lose some of the old fanbase, that is normal. If someone is bored or doesn4t enjoy the music, they quit. That is in all parts of life likely to happen, and so it will does here... But in general, i hope that there will be a fanbase from the early years because they can judge how jewel4s craft has been changing and how great that is for the fans!! take care, may god bless the americans fighting for the good cause in Irak. the dutch jewelfan Michiel - -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: owner-jewel@smoe.org [mailto:owner-jewel@smoe.org]Namens Alisa Petersen Verzonden: maandag 24 maart 2003 22:37 Aan: StuartnDee@aol.com; jewel@smoe.org Onderwerp: Re: [EDA] worried for the edas I agree.... it would be awful- but perhaps those EDA's that will not like her new album will decide that they do not want to be and EDA any longer, at least until Jewel decides to go back to her acoustic music. In that case, this new album could be the turning point for this list. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, March 24, 2003 12:51 PM Subject: [EDA] worried for the edas > I'm worried for the edas if we are fighting and treating each other > disrespectfully now before we even heard one note of Jewels dance music. But it has come to my attention that some of you came down a little hard on a friend of mine on here. So I want to speak out on my friend's behalf as well as just say some things that I've wanted to say for a long time. Mainly, the reasons I don't read or post much to this list anymore is because I think the average age has gotten younger, which means alot more immaturity going on here, and also because it seems like 75% of the people on here worship Jewel and every thing she does. You people need to wake up and realize that Jewel is human, she's gonna do things we like and don't like, and have bad judgment at times. My friend suggested that we all just support Jewel with her upcoming album. That's right, we should. There's no need to throw stones now or even after we've heard it. Being a true fan means you can be critical of her and her work, but in a constructive way. You can even not like some of the stuff she does *gasp* yes, it is true. So many of you people put Jewel on this pedestal and in this mold that if she should happen to not fit at any given point and time, then you're all over her like flies on...well you get the point. Some of you need to loosen up and stop preying on people who really are the true fans. Either learn how to be a true fan, or get off the list meant for those fans. At the very least try to find a happy medium, there seems to be only those who worship her and those who turn on her at the drop of a hat. This list is only breeding some vicious animal and is just a shadow of it's former glory. How sad. If you read this far great...if you didn't so be it. Some people are with their hormones very high, but I guess it's normal. It's more like it's the first time Jewel is trying to be sexy. I like the dress, I think Jewel is a beautiful person with a beautiful body, but I certainly don't think of her as a piece of meat, as none of us do, I believe. This is, the last time I looked, an unmoderated list meaning all posts and thoughts are welcome without criticism. Backhanded humour doesn't always pull off well, and thats never been more true in your case. The show is on XM's guide for Saturday evening and early Sunday as reported. However the Sunday program says Jewel '00 ... which like the other artists is signifying the show year. Which brings me to my puzzled look ... I just want to make sure the two shows are different and that both are from the 2002 fall show in Mass. (Otherwise I'll stay up to listen to both shows). == Rob == ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Mar 2003 23:02:56 EST From: Kiwi745@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Confused I'm a little bit confused by all of this talk of selling out. How on earth is it possible to form an opinion on something you have only heard about, but never actually heard first hand? It really saddens me to hear all of this talk..fights are starting on this list over something simple speculation. Nobody here has heard any of the songs but we are all jumping to these conclusions of what we think they will all be. With the state of the world as it is (I apologize for bringing it here, but I have such a one track mind these days) I get very upset when I come to read this Jewel list for a little break in my day and I read all of this arguing. Over music. It seems silly to me...why can't we all just wait until the cd comes out and then form our opinions...when we can actually have opinions Claire ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Mar 2003 23:11:29 EST From: Kiwi745@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Oscar dress Does anyone know who made that dress she wore? I'd like to know how big the pictures are before I go shelling out $10-75 PER MONTH for a membership. I have several hundred megabytes of Jewel pictures I could trade. If there's not anyone out there with the pictures already downloaded, is there anyone willing to chip in with me to get a membership?
