Well, for the most part, poetry should be original and not cliche ridden. I actually had an autographed copy of Jewel's first poetry book which mysteriously disappeared a long time ago, so to be honest, I have not really read much of her poetry .I have to admit, I liked it, but I did think her first book was rather immature. Of course, she wrote it when she was young. I will definitely check out her new stuff. Problem is, a lot of people write "poetry" and think it is great and inspired, but it really bites the big one. I love Jewel's music and I think her lyric writing is strong and getting better all the time, her voice rocks and her prose is very well written. I would say her Achilles heel is her poetry, but that could have gotten better, too. So, all in all, I come with an open mind and will definitely check out her new stuff. But, my poet friends (real poets) were appalled by Jewel's "poetry". Then again, who is anyone to to criticize what come from the heart, but when you think about all the incredibly talented and gifted poets out there I could see why critics slam Jewel to hell on her poetry. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2003 13:31:20 EST From: JeWeLNuMbEr1FaN@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] INTUITION <<<<>>> Her stomach isn't sunken in ..its the side of it and twisted..its her hip bone...when you twist like that and have muscles in your tummy it looks like that...and...with the hands..maybe she just has big hands? you gotta have long fingers/big hands to play guitar and she does play well lol ~MicheLe* The not so angel, Angel :) angelfood http://www.geocities.com/jewelnumber1fan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2003 19:25:40 -0000 From: "Gary Stanley" Subject: Re: [EDA] ALBUM TITLE There are millions of words she could pick from and in a hundred different languages, but what about "Tilt" (as in seeing things from a different angle) or "Butterfly" (she is a caterpiller no longer, she has matured......) - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Becki Giles" To: Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 4:16 AM Subject: [EDA] ALBUM TITLE > Natural? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2003 14:42:22 EST From: WiddleyPud@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] ALBUM TITLE Butterfly is way to Mariah Carey and I think that would bother me just a bit ;) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2003 14:56:17 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: [EDA] FWD: JeweLink: MESSAGE FROM JEWEL March 17, 2003 Here is the latest issue of JeweLink, directly from Jewel's "people", if you want to get a copy of this directly as each issue comes out, you can sub- scribe to it by sending a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com ******************************************** JeweLink - The Official Jewel Communications List ******************************************** FROM THE STUDIO: Sort of a slow day. My dog George is sleeping on my lap. We are tracking electric guitars. I am so happy with how it is all going. I am really liking how it's turning out. I'm pretty satisfied with my lyrics now. One of my goals, remember, was to make pop music more lyric-driven and have some fun with that. It feels raw and really cool, even though it's more techno than any of my other work. I was worried at first, cause all our demos were done on computers, so they all sounded too electronic, but now that we have live drums, and live bass and acoustic guitars, and yes, even a whistling solo (performed by yours truly), it sounds much more organic, while still maintaining its fruity bouquet. 2003 will be an excellent year, with nice legs, and rich, nutty undertones. Jeeez. Anyway, it's going fast and I'm happy so far. I don't like the pose that much, but Jewel said in her message that the photoshoot was colorful and had fishnets and stuff (I think thats what she has on over her shirt). I think its real. But it did come out pretty quickly right after the photo shoot. It would be funny if it was a fake. Its not my favorite Jewel pic ever. Nothing wrong with it. Just not a favorite or anything, hehe. So do you guys think that the new album will be a success? I'm sure the first single will do well, but it might take a while for it to catch on, just like Standing Still did. This time, they should wait longer to release a second single, and one that is comparable to Intuition. They put Break Me out while Standing Still was still in it's amazing run, and it didn't get played because SS was still be played every hour. And SS was so upbeat, and then they tried to get Break Me on which was slower. They should've put This Way out as the second single. All of us knew that they could be another YWMFM for her, but it didn't get picked up beacause Break Me didn't do well. SS and TW were both uptempo and I was so dissasspointed that TW didn't do well...it's just one of those songs that you can't help but like. So if they play the cards right, the album should do okay. But lets face reality there will never be another success as big as Pieces of You (11 million copies-WOW!!) but as long as she continues putting out honest music that she writes herself, she will always have her fan base and should have no problem doing platnuim selling albums, as far as I'm concerned. Come on J-Team, give us a snippet of IntuitioN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2003 20:50:29 -0800 (PST) From: rammsteinfan@bolt.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel/Ty article Not that this really matters, but did anyone else notice that these articles keep saying that Jewel is 27...Isn't she going to be 29 in May?
