Once upon a time there was a girl named Emily who lived with her mother and her evil drunken step father even though Emily was 20 and needed to get the hell out of the house. one day, not unlike any other day, Emily's evil drunken step father got drunk and wanted to tape a movie on tv so he could go upstairs and pass out, leaving the movie to be watched at a later date. Emily, the innocent one, had forgten her tape of jewel at woodstock, before they were stars and MTV cribs in the family VCR. It was natural that it would be in there because she watched it quite often. SO while Emily was away slaving at work the evil drunken step father found the tape. It was just perfect for taping his movie. Emilys mother told the evil drunken man that his own blank tapes were not but two feet away and that if he taped over Emily's jewel tape she may not be so innocent anymore. it would seem that the day was saved, however, due to Emily's stepfather's evilness and drunkeness he decided he was too incohearent and incapable of basic motor skills to use his own tape, which was but two feet away. you could imagine the terror when Emily found her beloved tape molested at the hands of her evil drunken step father and his love for "the mummy returns." so that night while the evil drunken step father slept Emily took the tape she no longer knew and unraveled it into a heap on the floor. The next moring when it came time for the evil drunken step father to watch his movie he could not find the tape. he went to emily and asked if she had seen it. Emily left for a second and the evil drunken step father could not find her. When Emily came back she had wraped herself up like a mummy in the tape she had unraveled. she walked up to the evil drunken step father and said, "i've returned." and they all lived happily ever after. Well the evil drunken step father did because he went to the video store and rented to movie for 99 cents. However poor, INNOCENT emily was left to beg her fellow EDA's to help her out with the promise of shipping and handeling as well as video tape purchase. THE END there was also a tape with the first much music I&I with boy needs a bike on it and the most recent I&I which co-stared emily (thats me case ya didn't figure it out) in the background that has mysteriously dissappead as well ... but i have no story for that one. it's simply gone. i do have 1 extra copy of entertainment weekly with jewel on the cover from january 15 1999 and the canadian version of readers digest with jewel on the cover from april 2000 with which i would be willing to part with if i could find someone to help me out .. again with the promise of paying for all the mailing crap and video cassettes. anyone willing to help will be cast as the hero in the fairy tale and possibly with some stange super natural powers too. huh think about it. ta for now Emily p.s sorry for the long-ass story. *it's valentines day i wish i had a sweetheart it's valentines day i didn't even get a stinken card it's valentines day ... i'd just like to say .. i hate valentines day.* -jewel _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2003 21:23:05 +1100 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] photo of Jewel at San Antonio Rodeo Hey Guys Go to Yahoo! and search the News section for Jewel and you'll find a photo of Jewel performing at the San Antonio Rodeo thing. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2002 22:37:07 +1100 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] Rodeo review Here's a really positive review of Jewel's show at the Rodeo. She played to 15 000 people - pretty impessive. I don't think any of the This Way shows had as many people as that. Pop gem Jewel shone brightly at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo on Thursday in the simplest of fashionable rodeo duds and with the sweetest of voices. Screams went up as the lovely singer hit the stage at 9:23 p.m. in a tight, faded blue jean mini skirt, rodeo belt buckle, tan stretch top, leather jacket and stiletto Western boots to sing "Standing Still.". Her moves were as subtle as a cobra's definitely too sexy for her shirt. . She was a swaying folk-rock poet in motion on that incessant rotating stage at her first S.A. rodeo concert while she played electric guitar on "Hands.". "Thanks for sticking around," she said to a nearly full house at the SBC Center. They weren't going anywhere, and the childlike and catchy "Do You Want to Play" was her reward for nearly 15,000 fans.. Jewel touted boyfriend Ty Murray's songwriting prowess (yup, the former bullriding champ from Texas) before playing the song they co-wrote, "Till We Run Out of Road.". But it was her emotional shredded vocals that impressed as she rocked with her five-man band. . "What do you feel like hearing?" she asked. The yelled requests were unintelligible, but Jewel's response wasn't an oh-so-delicate solo acoustic rendition of her hit "You Were Meant For Me.". She punctuated the syrup of her schoolgirl confessional with winks and shrugs. She doesn't act like she's sold more than 23 million albums worldwide.. "Foolish Games" and "Little Sister" off her first album were further spectacular vocal workouts. . "Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone" rolled like vintage Bob Dylan in full "Maggie's Farm" mode with slide blues guitar and soulful organ.. Jewel obviously loved teasing the rapt crowd with dance moves and a deliciously playful take on "Who Will Save Your Soul.". The MTV generation wild child princess was most appreciative, too. . "I want to thank you for coming out," she said. "This is my first rodeo, and you made me feel at home." . ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2003 14:43:30 -0000 From: "Tom H" Subject: [EDA] Jason Mraz UK Dates Hi all, This is of interest for UK people only, but read on if you want :). She was extra giggly and laughing a lot, so I knew she was having fun. The crowd wasn't too responsive, but that was expected. The crowd actually grew after the rodeo, for her concert. They just weren't very loud, and I am sure that a lot of them only knew the radio stuff. People actually looked kind of annoyed that I kept yelling really loud, but that was their problem. The SBC center is brand new and had a great sound system. It really sounded good, and there was a very clear jumbotron that made it even better. The stage was a round rotating platform in the middle of the rodeo arena, and they didn't let anyone down there, so I got down to the second row for the concert, but that wasn't very close. After T Bone did his bass intro for WWSYS, jewel was dancing of course, and then she introduced the band, and started to do her scat with the guitar thing. Right after she started the first few notes, she started cracking up and said that she forgot to intro T Bone. It was really funny and cute. She played for an hour, so no stories. Not much talking at all really, but I would rather hear her sing anyways.. So that's all, I got to go to school. Chris P.S. I haven't looked through my pictures yet, but I took about 30 of them, so if any are good, and anyone wants some (to post on a website) let me know. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2003 21:02:31 +0100 From: "Michiel - van - Gorkum" Subject: [EDA] The sexy jewel photo from the rodeo hello jewelfans, I can4t say otherwise than that Jewel is looking more hot every day! She is nowadays so lovely dressed during her concerts, that it is hard to focus on the lyrics and her personality on the stage. She is smiling from ear to ear, and the way she dressed at the rodeo makes from all the male fans cowboys in the arena. I am sure that Jewel turns more beautiful every day she is singing. The more concerts Jewel performs, the more lovely she will be look in the eyes from her fans!! I am very very delighted with the Yahoo news photo link that was posted. I think that Jewel is really one of the most beautiful woman on this earth! I think hardly any one else can disagree with my love opinion about Jewel! Take care Jewelfans, i heard today twice Foolish games on radio because of valentines day! She's continuing her production work in L.A. now and things are moving right along. But that's not why we're here today. We want to tell you about another project that we're pretty sure you'll be excited about. This one has been secretly in the works for a while now. In June of this year, Atria Books will be publishing "Revealing Jewel: An Intimate Portrait from Family and Friends." Many of you will find this book fascinating as it goes where no book or publication on Jewel has gone before and was done with Jewel's cooperation. Shaped as a candid conversation, "Revealing Jewel" features many insights from those who truly know her best; her longtime friends and family. There's also celebrity contributors such as Billy Bob Thornton, Ty Murray, and Moby, and you'll even find me in there discussing the early days of Jewel's relationship to you, her incredible online community, and some of the astounding things we've enjoyed over the years. Jewel even pops in to answer a few of the questions you've often asked her to address. In addition, there's many previously unpublished color photographs and we know this is one item every Jewel fan will find captivating! We'll give you more info as the exact publication date approaches but you can look forward to it in June. Before I take off for the weekend, Jewel asked that I slip you another note. So Happy Valentine's Day everybody, enjoy your weekend and take it away Jewel. MrBB ******************************** Hello again all, Im back in the studio in L.A. I was gonna do my CD in San Diego, but I couldnt get my studio up in time. So here we are. Randy Newman was in the studio next to me for the first few days. Im the biggest fan, and as he walked by, he said Hi, and I think all I managed was a "Gruh, uh, f, .Hi" or some such gibberish, as the blood had left my head. He said, "Thanks for putting me in your song 'Do You Want To Play'......even though it was about a sick girl." Yes, thats right, ladies and gentleman, Randy Newman has heard my songs! I'll be back to report more from the studio and do some more name dropping :-) XOXO, Jewel - --- You can help a friend subscribe by having them send a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com To view selected back issues of JeweLink, please visit the JeweLink Archive at the www.jeweljk.com calendar page. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #52 **************************
