If it said it "jewel is a pencil drawing" or something of a that nature, at least he is giving some claim to it. but an artist does not take another artists (the photographer who took that picture) work and use it without giving credit, therefore, without him actually saying he drew it from his mind, and claiming it to be just 'an angel', he's taking credit for it, in my opinion. whether you actually agree with what I'm saying above or not, the fact of the matter is that it's a blatant rip off a picture, and he has not given any credit whatsoever to the photographer, mentioned that it was Jewel, not just "an angel", or mentioned at all that it was taken from a photo, which is totally wrong, especially when he appears to be trying to sell/showcase his work on there... that was my basic point. ~ Sandy wait, where did you get the impression they are claiming to have drawn that from their mind? maybe you're right, that's why I'm asking... because when I went there, I didn't get that impression. I think it's just their portfolio. I couldn't see where they may have been implying that... hmm.. but maybe I wasn't looking close enough (?)... Just want to tell everyone lucky enough to be in or around NYC, that there's an AWESOME band playing there on Friday, January 24th. Lady Jane Grey will be live at The Living Room, an intimate music club where many musicians have started -- including Norah Jones. You can find more info @ www.livingroomny.com. If you're curious, come on out and see 'em! They're Texans, and will be a long way from home! : ) Sarah - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Help STOP SPAM: Try the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Jan 2003 23:22:49 +1100 From: Barry Howarth Subject: [EDA] SJC Canberra EDAs Hi Angels, Please spare a thought for EDAs and others in Canberra, Australia's capital city. Yesterday afternoon and evening we were devastated by bush fires and some 400 homes were destroyed and four people were killed. I hope that the other Canberra EDAs are all right and haven't lost their homes. The suburb where I live was put on alert but luckily the fire didn't reach here. Once again the message of "Hands" was fully in evidence, with many people rushing to the aid of others in distress; and firefighters and police and many, many volunteers risking their lives to help others. On the other hand, one perverted individual was arrested for looting. But the normal human reaction, as Jewel has always said, is to help: people are OK. Take care, Barry Howarth "'Cause anyone can start a conflict It's harder yet to disregard it I'd rather see the world from another angle We are everyday angels ..." I just thought, having experience with such portfolios, that it sort of might just be a "this is the type of work I can do" piece. but you're right. he should have at least given proper credit... would that infringe on any copyright laws, or would that not apply to a drawing or "replication"? just wonderin.. it should Lindsay ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Jan 2003 08:38:32 -0800 From: "Larry G." It will be a lot of fun and it's for a good cause. Randi is an awesome singer/songwriter from Los Angeles! Any of you west coasters want to back me up on that? Please let me know ASAP if you'd like to come. :-) ***************** Hey, everyone! I'm excited to announce that the lovely and talented Randi Driscoll will be playing my living room in Jersey City on Sunday, January 26 at 3:00 pm. Since it's Superbowl Sunday, we're making the show early enough that you can go on to any parties you may be planning to attend OR you can stay at my place and watch the Superbowl with a bunch of people who are fun but not very much into sports! The show is a Project Warmth concert which means that the only "cost" of admission is the donation of a warm coat, blanket, or sweater. These donations will then be distributed to local homeless people who could use a little extra warmth in their lives! Randi Driscoll lives in Los Angeles and has gained national recognition for her song "What Matters", written for Matthew Shephard who was killed several years ago in a hate crime assault. "What Matters" has been featured in several documentaries and was given a special mention in Rolling Stone magazine, in an article featuring Elton John and Melissa Etheridge. The song has also appeared in several educational films and documentaries, including an NBC film on Matthew's life. All proceeds from the song have been generously donated to anti-hate crime charities. Randi's music is beautiful and she has an incredible heart and great sense of humor. I promise you'll have a great time! Visit www.randidriscoll.com for more info on Randi. RSVP to me at w1ggy2@aol.com for directions and further details. My house is easily accessible via car (10 minutes from the Holland Tunnel) and bus. You can also get here via train and ferry. Bring as many friends as you want! Just try and give me an approximate count of who will be coming. Hope to see you there!
