However, in that interview she did recently (Atlantic Confidential) she was asked about that and she said she was thinking more along the lines of starting a management company. That could also be lucrative (managers get a percentage of everything an artist makes).. but not as lucrative as a record company. However, I wouldn't be surprised if she opts for the record company in the future. In fact it could be part of the reason she's planning on getting done with her record contract in the next two years. All small record companies need distribution - she could be planning on incorperating a deal for a record company into her new contract. Many artists have done that in the past - eg - Madonna who started Maverick Records, which is essentially owned by Warner Music. We'll see. (or whatever kind of English he speaks--I mean that kindly, not to make fun of him, I rather like his way of expressing himself) :-)) "the more mature jewel gets the more beautiful i think she become!" Here, here. I agree. It's like that for many women actually. I was an awkward girl growing up although I was a beautiful child, and as i get older, I find myself looking better and better. Of course, eventually that might go the other way, but for now, I feel like a wine becoming more ripe and potent with each year. I wouldn't go back in time for anything...and I just turned thirty and I would not go back to twenty. I'm better than ever right now. I don't understand why people are so afraid to see women grow up. Our whole culture is terrified of aging. It's ridiculous. Get over it, America! Embrace yourself at every age you are and you will be beautiful. That's my opinion, anyway. Not to say you shouldn't be healthy and try to preserve your youthful good health as much as possible. And not to say that you shouln't dye your hair if you want to, especially if you are working in an industry that can't handle the aging process. Anyway...enough for now. Just wanted to say that I agree with Michiel the Dutch Angel. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Dec 2002 12:28:57 +0100 (CET) From: michiel_van_gorkum@planet.nl Subject: [EDA] Jewel is beautiful! Hey Jewelfans & Amy, I like the Jewel photo at Jingleballs number 29 and 30. They are sexy and they just show how natural beauty Jewel is. She always enjoy being an artist where the fans talk about ! She is really more beautiful , the older she gets. She can wear almost everything, and her sexy appereance on stage is something i really fancy. She always surprise me with her way she dresses. It is always cute, and never overdone. She is a fashionqueen, and that is something i always like a lot. I hadn't really listened to Jewel too much these past 8 months or so. I have had so much going on in my life, I just couldn't bring myself to listen to her songs. Some, because they made me too sad. Others, because I didn't think that I should be happy. But I am starting to heal and have been listening to her CD's again. Actually, just in the past week. But they have been in my player pretty much non-stop. I have been alternating between This Way and the Joy holiday CD. I can say that her music has brought some peace to my life. Of course, not fully, but at those moments when I hear that beautiful voice my sadness fades. She lifts my spirit a little. Who doesn't need that? As far as the concert questions go I simply cannot answer. I haven't been to a Jewel concert since her Spirit tour came to Minnesota. However I am very excited to say that I will see her perform on January 11th. I will report afterwards. Anyone else from MN going to that concert? I can't wait to get my tickets to see what my seats are! Hello Jewelfans, For me there a so many highlights that i have no idea to know where to start :) The first gig of the year at Hamburg with my friend Chris was of course very special. She started to play there in Germany for the first time songs of her record This Way. In a cool venue we saw the wonderful talented singer Jewel rock the house. The band was phenomenal and the songs she played were great. I remember all the songs that she played as it was today. She played Everything breaks, which was very cool rendition. But also i like a lot the song Stephenville, which she played with passion. The first time i heard Standing still and all the other great tunes from her This way record. It was a big memory and a great night. I met there some german fans like Jens and Hannah :) And they took from me standing next to jewel cool photos, so that i remember how special that night was. For the first time a photo of me and jewel my big hero :) After that show i drove back with my friends, and a day later i went back to Berlin Germany to see Jewel performing for a cool tvshow she recorded with Donavan. I remember that night that she was really at ease and sitting next to stage was cool. Jewel rocked again with her new band and songs. She asked during that show in berlin if i remembered the lyrics of a boy needs a bike, i said just a little. She said well well , let4s see what we can do here... And she started to sing it and it was very very pretty version...Jewel is very special every night again. In 2002 also the gig in london in february has special memories for me, when i was invited on stage, when i brought my lyricbook with me. To be mentioned in papers was just phenomenal. I realised how special it was that i could mention a song that i wanted to hear her play. I picked of course the lovely song Does anyone believe in love. In front of 3000 fans in London4s royal festival hall standing next to jewel was big big memory. I enjoyed it every minute, i am going to write soon more about my fantastic jewel year. In terms of Jewel it was fantastic, in terms of being a fan great. In terms of meeting fans very nice as well, in terms of breaking up a relation this year for me personally very sad... Be back soon with more reviews.. It's the EveryDay Angels Foundation (aka EDAF) and I've had the pleasure of knowing these people for quite a few years now and have enjoyed attending several EDAF related events, which are always memorable. They've helped accomplish some very cool things over the years and their sense of camaraderie, adventurousness and humor are well worth investigating. We encourage you to visit SoulCityCafe.com where you can learn a lot more about this collaboration and get involved. In the meantime, I turn you over to the EDAF. MrBB Hello! The EveryDay Angels Foundation was started in 1997 by a group of music fans who were drawn to Jewel's music because of it's simplicity, honesty, and humanistic messages. During the past five years we have strived to regain an ever-diminishing sense of community by holding fun yet meaningful events which bring people together. Past events include numerous beach cleanups, foodbank volunteer days, blood drives, walkathons, and also plenty of concerts. To find out more about our upcoming and past events, including info on our newest partner, Heifer International, check out Soul City Cafe's article or stop by our website at www.edaf.org where you can also sign up for our free e-newsletter to keep informed of our activities and get ideas on how you can make life better for someone in your own community. Starting this holiday season and running for the next several months, the EveryDay Angels Foundation will be sponsoring a fund raising project for Heifer International to bring an "ark" of animals to needy families around the world.
