In the Break me video there are these asian army guys standing in a line. Jewel morphs into one of them. I went to high school, same grade and had classes with the guy she morphed in to. I thought he looked familiar but wasn't sure till two different people called and told me. Second, I'll be at all of the Saratoga shows starting tomorrow. If anyone wants to meet up just to say hi or for gathering, before or after, hit me back. peace! -Billy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 10:40:38 -0400 From: "Eileen H." (aerosmith for trade) James, Which Sony Mini Disc Recorder did you get? The MZ-N505 and MZ-S1, although they advertise them selves as being "recorders", and have a dual analog-in/digital-in port, seem to take only a "line-level" analog input such as comes out of another player with a line-out port, and record at a quite unsatisfactorily low level when trying to use a microphone, even, as you note, with the recording level turned up. The MZ-N707 (naturally, the most expensive of the three, all commonly available for sale at the moment) has an additional separate microphone-in port which should give you a reasonable level even on the microphone you've chosen. (You may not get the best quality on that microphone, but that's a different matter from the recording level.) You've also noticed that there's no way to get your live analog minidisc recording out of any of these three devices, other than real-time and over the analog speaker-out port, even though it is stored digitally (albeit compressed lossily with ATRAC3) and has software and hardware to make a fast USB connection to your PC... At the moment, it's real-time analog out or use a different (typically much more expensive) device -- write Sony to complain. These various limitations are not well described in their packaging or manuals. By talking to musicians, record executives and musical commentators, Paul will discover the recent directions taken in each genre and look for signs of artistic decline or creative regeneration and optimism. ******************************************** Now Playing: The Rugburns: "Taking The World By Donkey" ******************************************** Jewel concert information, radio and TV broadcast scheduling updates available 24 hours a day at: http://jeweljk.com/low/calendar.html ******************************************** - --- You can help a friend subscribe by having them send a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com To view selected back issues of JeweLink, please visit the JeweLink Archive at the www.jeweljk.com calendar page. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 17:09:27 EDT From: DPS8315@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Late Production This Way I know Jewel is wrapping up her video for This Way or maybe just finished it but does someone know why she's just now releasing that video when the single came out like over 2 months ago? I mean she was promoting it at her concerts like back in June right? I think it's a little late now and especially with Serve the Ego coming out now as a maxi single. I know that doesn't mean the same as regular single but maybe it's a sign of the next true single. I think that would be good if it came out but when theres a video for This Way still around it's just going to confuse people I think. I also wondered why they chose to make a video for a song that was released and promoted so long ago... I've always thought most of Jewel's (or her team's) marketing decisions have been decent- I sincerely believe she's got one of the best artist websites in the industry... but I'm stumped on the late production of this way as well... The only thought I can come up with is that it was a relatively simple video to dream up/shoot/produce and if you figure they chose the song specifically for the create-a-video-contest, I guess that makes sense... Anyone else have thoughts? Then during a commercial break they did a tribute to one of the employees for the station who died on one of the plains.....then they did a photo montage to Life uncommon. It was really moving. When she said don't worry mother...it showed pictures of her with her mother and then with her sister. It was so moving. I did end up recording it which I am very happy. I wanted to record it not because it was Jewels song but because of how much the clip moved me. Have a nice and Safe night everyone. Goodnight.
