Hey Ya'll what a great show and great times with Steve Poltz up in Reno. He shared the stage with Susan Gibson (www.susansongs.com) She was rockin too! She wrote that song Wide Open Spaces, that the Dixie Chicks sing. Check out her schedule, she is touring right now. SJ i think on the 19th, and Santa Cruz on the 22nd. So they switched off like 30-40 min sets, for a couple hours. Then Steve brought her, and her band on stage for his final few songs to close out the night around 2am. They then played Unplugged and had us all move really close to the stage, as they closed with "Walking After Midnight" Then it was Steve and Java Joe, and friends of Poltz hanging out. Drinking and gambling till 6am. Well i am still tired since i didnt get much sleep. So till next time........... Kevin the Concert angel...... PS. Tom Petty on the 29th up in Reno. And dont forget about Jewel in South Lake Tahoe...Anybody going?? Oh and i might have some Video of the Poltz show to share once i edit and all that. - ------------------------------------------------ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Aug 2002 15:53:02 EDT From: SullMa84@aol.com Subject: [EDA] My Trip to Duluth At 8:00 am friday morning my cousin and I embarked on the 7 hour drive from Milwaukee to see Jewel in Duluth, Minnesota. Arriving there at about 4, we went around the town to get a hotel room - but, hey, no rooms available!!! Great, we thought. So then we go back to superior, wisconsin, which is just a 5 minute drive from Dululth. However, none of their hotels or motels would rent to us becuase we are not 21. So we go to this campground, pay $12 and pitch a tent. We go to the shower thing to change and get ready, but there isn't any hot water so we had cold showers!!! So we go back to the venue and walk around, to see where Jewel will be exiting from after the show. We get in and the show is WONDERFUL! Very cool, never been to an acoustic show. She was very talkative, and funny. Amazing job, but she didn't yodel:) She even commented "When's the last time you went to a rock show and heard people shouting 'yodel'"? There was also this guy that was cackling, which she commented on, "He's like a child, he found something cute and now he won't stop!" So after the show we go wait outback, where about 10 or so other people where sitting. Suddenly, all these security guys come out, and I can see her wearing a white top and jeans. No one said anything, so I shout "Hi Jewel!" and she replies "Hi!!!!" so then people are begging for pictures and stuff but they took her away in a van, we waved, and got a picture of her waving back! So I was tickled that someone that I adored finnaly had some verbal contact with me!!! We get back to the campground, and it starts to pour!!! So we end up sleeping in the car. The next day, we leave at about 8:00. About an hour into the drive, going 70 MPH, our tire blows out on the freeway, and we were lucky no to get into an accident. I saw my life flash before me....very dramatic scene. So a few hours and hundred dollars later, we are on the road home, but decide to stop in Wautoma, about 2 hours north of milwaukee, to see our relatives dance thing at the county fair, so we end up staying there for the night, and came home today. A wild weekend just to see Jewel.... and I'd do it all again!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Aug 2002 17:50:20 -0600 From: "Stacey Hamilton" Subject: Re: [EDA] Re: m2m >you show that you know nothing about becomming a band that sells >millions >of records... thats hard... and m2m hasnt done >that either. - -------------------------- You're right, M2M hasn't sold a million records, they've sold way more than that. >i think ill assume some things now about you... you seem to think that >if >a band is good it will be on the radio, therefore if you arent on >the >radio you are no good. - -------------------- Wrong assumption. I never said that nor do I think that. I know alot of bands whom I think should be on radio but aren't. >you just might be buying my cd some day, and deffending me on this >list. >and you wouldnt even know it was me. now thats a funny thought. - --------------------- Not really...I guess time will tell won't it. More than likely I wouldn't like your stuff anyway though cause to me there's more to an artist than just music. Most artists I like, I like for who they are and what they stand for, and how their attitude is and isn't in some cases. So I seriously dount I'd ever like your music even if others thought it was good. There's alot of great artist I despise cause they have a serious attitude problem. There's also some I like somewhat yet aren't spectacular musicians, simply because they're nice people to be around. ~Stacey~ (if you prefer to continue this discussion I think I'd be correct in assuming others would appreciate it if you'd make it private from now on) _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Aug 2002 18:24:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Princess Lauren Subject: [EDA] My Angelfood site Hey all. :) I just made a new site filled with all my Jewel angelfood that I have for trade. From what the rules said, they were going to notify the winner on or about the 19th, but the website says they are still reviewing all the videos. I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything from them. It would be cool if someone from this list made the finals. If you did, congrats! Anyway, I was bored and just curious so I checked it out and wondered. Later! Jewel was wearing a pinkish-red dress and some high heeled shoes from italy (someone in the audience asked where she bought her shoes). I couldn't see them that well because i had balcony seats though. The stage was so pretty, just really simple lighting, and some guitars in little stands and a table w/ a beautiful flower arrangement. The setlist was awesome- and included does anyone believe in love anymore as the opener followed by near you always, and then also included (in no particular order and probably includes a few more songs i can't remember) morning song, little sister, foolish games, you were meant for me (w/ the story- but this time not quite as extensively as in minneapolis but still lenght-ier than usual!), life uncommon, break me, race car driver (with a story that started out as the green dotson story (like before 1000 miles usually does), then a hitchiking story (like nicotine love usually does) and then went into the this guy that picked up me wasn't very nice story that had extensions that i've never heard before- he asked her to show him her boobs and then told her not to get all weird about it.) sometimes it be that way (complete w/ a bob dylan story- but not the usual, this one was about how the song sounded like it was ripped off of his), hands, new wild wild west (of course, the tours namesake)louisa and her blue guitar (wow holy shit, right!!?!! it was a completely awesome and welcomed surprise!), cold song, sattiite (w/ a story about her horse bucking and first moving out to LA)and violet eyes. That's about all i can think of. her encore included an opera song- gloria ? (but it's a different song than the christmas cd), long slow slide, and angel standing by. Tomorrow i'm off to Des Moines for my fourth and last concert of the summer. how sad. =( yet happy at the same time! =) if anyone is going to be there, stop and say hi, i'll be wearing a pink dress that has white and black lace. *****Quick QUESTION, hopefully someone will be able to get back to me right away- email me, don't send it to the list or else i won't know before i leave!!! =) but what is the best way to tape a concert w/o picking up all kinds of background noise, like the people talking? hugs*~ mandy ~*"But don't wander too far, my one constant star, darkness exists, except where you are, my feet are filled with wandering, they follow your own, cause everywhere you are feels like home" -jewel kilcher, last dance rodeo*~ ~* "call me naive, but i believe that your two blue eyes are all i need" jewel, does anyone believe in love anymore*~ MSN- sparkly_stick@yahoo.com yahoo- sparkly_stick aim- daisie eda - -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #384 ***************************
