Dubbed the New Wild West tour, the outing will find Jewel in smaller venues across the West Coast and Southwest. This will be the first time Jewel will play her guitar for a whole set since she was bucked off her horse this April. Since then, she's only been able to finger-pick a few acoustic numbers during the This Way Tour, leaving her feeling a bit exposed up on stage. "It's very strange," Jewel told Rolling Stone. "There's a much more extensive dance routine, but with a broken collarbone. It's nowhere near as sexy, but my belly's showing." Singer-songwriter Scooter Scudieri will open on all dates. Scudieri was one of the artists featured on the Soul City Cafe component of Jewel's tour, a showcase for up-and-coming musical acts and spoken-word artists. For an artist who's been performing live since the age of ten, Jewel has not burned out on the grueling process. "Any time anybody is spending their own money to come see you, that's a gift," she said. "They're supporting my lifestyle and I'm very aware of that. I don't have to have a day job. I can write more. It used to be every household would have a poet, and now it's not one rich family that supports a poet, it's the nation, through ticket sales and buying CDs. It's been a dream come true."
