They HAVE to stand up..... It's a given. I mean someone even posted here earlier about the first concert, on how Jewel had to TELL everyone to stand up and get closer to the stage... Why would you want to sit down at a concert..... especially one of Jewel?!? Just my two cents.... Nicole The Watchful Angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jul 2002 13:36:45 -0400 From: "Sandy" Subject: Re: [EDA] Standing at Concerts Jewel always asks people to stand up at her shows - but notice that she asks closer to the end! She wouldn't play a seated venue if she didn't want people to be able to sit back and fully take in what's she's playing. She usually asks people to stand up when she wants to "rock out"... Standing is just *rude* at a venue like that. Sorry, I wasn't at that specific venue, but just my two cents. Why turn a beautiful intimate show like that into a stadium show? It's rude because there are short people out there (like me) who CAN'T SEE if you stand during the whole damn show, and I paid just as much for my tickets are you did, so I deserve to be able to watch the concert too and actually see the stage! and there is no "you'll just have to stand on your chair" crap, because then people behind me can't see once I'm 2-3 feet higher off the ground, which is unfair to them, *and* security will come and tell you to get off your chair! When you are at a concert with general admission at the front, you can either worm your way to the very front if you are short, and still see the stage, or you can stand at the very back and look above people's heads - at a seated venue, you're stuck in your seat, you have no where to go to be able to see the stage any better, so if you're view is obstructed, well, tough luck, you're stuck in your seat straining your neck all night to try and get glimpses of the top of the performers head! It's unfair to short people and younger people who paid money for the ticket just like you did... it's okay if you stand during the end of the show to "rock out" with Jewel, but don't stand during the whole damn thing and ruin the concert for someone else.... just my two cents, and sorry, but I'm pretty passionate about it being as I'm short =P ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicole M. Which leads me to the question-did anyone happen to tape the June 26th show at the Tower Theatre? Actually I'm interested in any good quality recordings of any of the recent dates. Anyone willing to trade for blanks? Please email me at mgsju@aol.com if you are. Thanks so much. Honestly, guys, I sent out an email yesterday asking people to please take a minute to vote for my boyfriends band, and seriously, if anyone voted, it was only about 2 people! (if you did, thank you so much!) I'm really surprised because every time someone on here has asked for help in voting for someone they know before, I've always done it without a second thought! I really thought that we could get at least 10 votes out of this list to help them, so I'm pleading *once* more, if you could take 5 minutes to do this for me, I'm be really greatful! That's all it takes - 5 minutes, including registration, so please, if you have an extra couple of minutes right now, help them out! and as I said yesterday, If you know another band competing, let me know and I will go vote for them (you can vote for one than one band) Thank you! PLEASE HELP LUMMER be in the top 10 bands, so they can play in the Playdium Band Wars. Right now we're in 11th place. I was going to make a post about it if no one else mentioned it first.... Before my very first Jewel concert (June 29th) I had always heard that she tells people to stand up and have fun and everything. I had second row seats (yay me) but I was so excited to be there and to see Jewel that I stood the entire time. A couple people yelled at me, but the way I see it- I paid the money and I want to enjoy it to my fullest. Yeh by the end of the concert my feet started to hurt (4 inch heels will do that to you) but I had such a blast dancing the whole time... so I was just wondering if the majority of EDA's feel it's rude to stand. Personally I felt like standing was letting Jewel know just how awesome she was... and YES eventually she did tell everyone to STAND UP!! Alright, I'm interested in seeing what everyone has to say on the matter! xoxo Ashley Staggers the *sweet* Pi Beta Phi angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jul 2002 15:59:08 -0500 From: "Eric L." If the sudden influx of questions regarding this statement are any indication, many of you are very curious about this project. This statement is somewhat misleading, as "Wave" has not actually gone into production yet. "Wave" is the story of the chaos that ensues in a small island community when an estranged mother and her son reunite. It is an ensemble piece that Jewel's production company, Magic Lantern Entertainment, has purchased. It is in packaging at Creative Artists Agency, where they are very excited about the project. And there is a spicy featured role in it for Jewel. As things progress, we'll keep you informed. ******************************************** ***NEW SCC SUPPORT ACTS ANNOUNCED As those of you who check the jeweljk.com calendar regularly will notice, M2M will finish up their stint as Jewel's opening act tomorrow night at Red Rocks.
