I got my promo copy of it from an FYE store awhile back, but I also think it's on their new CD. And yes, it's quite good. They've been around about 5 years in Europe and have quite a following there and in Japan. They semi made it big in the US with their first hit single Mirror Mirror but alot of people wrote them off since they were young and similar to the group Hanson back then...except girls. But they had like 3 singles off that first CD in Europe. And I've heard they are much more popular over there and have more record sales than many big artists in the US...like Jewel for example. I think they would like to regain some of that following in the US once again which could be one reason they are touring with Jewel, besides being label mates. But make no mistake about it, they are multi platinum artists...many times over. Just not so much in the US....and are definitely not "new" or "up and coming" artists by any means. >From: DixieJewelAngel@aol.com >To: jewel@smoe.org >Subject: [EDA] NJC: M2M >Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2002 03:50:42 EDT > >I so didn't know that m2m had a video for "everything" ! Last night was night 2 of my 5 jewel concerts. Am i bragging? damn straight. *grin* i worked hard to do this. I met up with Amy Neufeld and Abel at like 3pm and went to the Campbell's pre show gathering. There were about 15 of us, and we ate, talked and goofed around having fun like we always do then headed to the concert. We got to our row 7 seats and snapped a few pictures on the camras we managed to smuggle in. This goofy girl behind us wasnt even hiding her camera just keeping it in plain view. One guard approached her and demanded the camera. SHe said no she owuld put it away but he took it anyway. Apparently they had pictures of the US open on it. The dad jumped up out of his seat and said a few choice words. The guard didnt care, and said they could get it back after thw show. Well the father told the girl how stupid she was and said thanks for getting his camera taken away. Eventually he got it back, but it was their goal the entire night to make everyone as miserable as possible. Not once did they clap, smile, sing... no emotion. WHY WHERE THEY THERE? So the show starts, and as Jewel came out the crowd stands. we are so close that everyone stays standing. She did a couple of songs and suddenly some lady starts shouting at the top of her lungs "SIT DOWN EVERYONE JUST SIT DOWN. SIT DOWN, IM TALKING TO ALL OF YOU... JUST SIT DOWN" it was BEYOND rediculous. most everyone sat, but amy and i stayed standing as did a few others. Then the lady behind me yells at me and says to sit. well I did because she was pissed and I could have very well been killed ;) after all it was the crazy dads wife lol. Tonight we drove 3 hours (Well, Amy drove, we Rode) into long island and saw my thrid show of this tour. it was much more fun because amy and i giggled all night long. all the songs we have know for ever like "Who will save your soul" we would say stuff like "Oh my? is this a new one? i have never heard this before". and crossed our fingers all night for violet eyes or SOMETHING that wasnt an album song. no such luck. Only NON album songs we heard for 2 nights were Cold song, chime bells, and like one other. Blah. afterwads hung out in the parking lot taking pictures shivering out asses off. it was on the beach so it was so ungodly cold . Blah blah boring boring... ok So, the moral of the story is. 1. ALL ALBUM MATERIAL. don't expect to much more. She can't strum (whichs he will let you know) and she doesnt play anythign fun. SO, if you enjoy album material, this is a great tour for you. 2. Meet up with EDA's at the concerts because there are NO jewel fans like the eda's. 3. I don't know any more morals, im tired and and rambling and in massive need of an advil. You all have a funnight. 3 down 2 to go ;) Amanda Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Jun 2002 12:24:54 -0400 From: "Devin Starr" Subject: [EDA] Guitar Chord Grail! (maybe the park space right next to the Greek) This sounds like a great idea I just need some info on the event that's all. Griffith park is a huge place. And I myself who have been there many times don't know the area that well. I usually just follow the signs to where I have to go and sometimes end up doing a couple of U-turns to get back to where I was supposed to be going. So maybe someone who knows the park a little should set up at least a meeting place. Well, I would love to go so there is my input. Jewel is in the newest In Style on the stands (the one with Britney Spears on the cover). It's part of a section called "Diva-Va-Voom" There's a full page photo of her on Ty's ranch. Then there's a full page talking about her. There's a column of her "fashion tips" I guess. A picture of this blue shiny leather jacket. Caption: "Jewel shines in this Roberto Cavalli leather jacket ($2,825; 212-755-7722): 'It's not subtle, but it's killer and really rock and roll.'" Then, there are brown boots: "'Lucchese cow oy boots are comforatble and durable,' says Jewel. 'And you can ride in them really well." ($875) And then eye lash curlers: "'Even my boyfriend notices when I don't use my eyelash curler,' says Jewel. She uses Kevyn Auccoin's" ($18.50) There's a quote over the top: I like the outdoors. I write better when I have open space around me. Being at the ranch reminds me of the way I was raised [in rural Alaska]. My life has changed so much since then, and it's nice to have something familiar." Article: For modern-day folkie Jewel, the world is her coffeehouse. But the Grammy-nominated singer- songwriter spends most of her time far away from the music scene -- and from the distractins of Hollywood (with Tobey Maguire, she co-starred in Ang Lee's Ride with the Devil). Her favorite retreat: rodeo-star boyfriend Ty Murray's 2,000 acre ranch in Texas. "I used to be on the road all the time," Jewel says. "Now I don't care enough about being famous to work that hard." This photo was taken just two days before she was thrown from a colt on the ranch, breaking both her collarbone and a rib, but Jewel vows to be back in the saddle again soon -- and ready to kick off a summer US tour in support of her latest CD, This Way. She chose the ranch for these photograhs because ... "It's so pretty and quiet -- it's like my church. But it was really lucky that one of the crew didn't get kicked int he head by a horse. Jessica Paster, my stylist, almost got smoked by a cow." She stays in shape by ... "Picking rocks out of fields, doctoring cows, and fixing fence lines. On a ranch there are always a million chores to do." She describes her style as ... "Comfortable but sexy. I don't like to try hard and I've never made an effort to be particularly hip. I wear jeans and T-shirts a lot. I've really been into cutting up T-shirts lately, and I take 501's and make them into miniskirts. It's fun and you can get them to fit your body well. And I'll always have my leather pants. They're comfortable, durable and always make your butt look good." Her must have-have makeup includes ... "Sonya Dakar sunblock. My face cleanser is from eve Lom. Her line is so simple. And I like to curl my lashes. It's an easy thing to do that makes you look better -- my boyfriend even notices when I don't. But I hate putting stuff on my face if I don't have to. I don't wear makeup unless I'm trying to impress the boyfriend." On the road she carries ... "A big makeup bag from MAC. It's a soft black shoulder bag with lots of pockets. I have to carry a lot of makeup and colors because many times I do my own makeup. It's a lot less fuss that way, to tell you the truth."
