What was the instrument that Jewel had in a couple of the photos? Does anyone know? Alan? My guess is a tambura (from India). Is there any story attached to this instrument? Is, or was, Jewel playing around with Indian instruments? The weekly photos are great but a bit of commentary with them would add greatly the enjoyment of them: when, where, with whom or what? Was that Jewel's dog? Just curious. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 19:17:52 EDT From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Tour Sellouts Somebody posted about this recently... but I thought I'd embellish a little. The following concerts are either sold out, or very close to being sold out (ie - there are only very limited seats available): *limited seats - two seats together available, but at the VERY back Theatre/Club Shows: *June 14th - Tampa Performing Arts Centre *June 15th - Fort Lauderdale - Broward Centre *June 26th - Upper Darby - Tower Theatre June 28th - Toronto - Massey Hall - only single seat obstructed view seats available *July 13th - Minneapolis - Northrop Auditorium July 20th - Houston - Verizon Wireless Theatre - only single seats available July 24th - Las Vegas - The Joint - only General Admission at the back available The show at Interlochen I don't know about, although I presume it's either sold out or close to, considering it's such a small venue. Also the show at the Hard Rock Live is hard to tell because it's General Admission - although all the balcony seats are sold out. There are also some theatre shows (ie - Chicago) that have appared to be almost sold out, until just recently when some more tickets in better sections became available. That may happen with some of the above shows. Pavilion/Amphitheatre Shows: June 19th - Vienna - Wolf Trap - SOLD OUT *June 23rd - Boston - FleetBoston Pavilion - only LAWN available *June 30th - Columbus - PromoWest Pavilion - only LAWN available *July 3rd - Rochster Hills - MeadowBrook Music Festival - only LAWN available *July 27th - Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara Bowl - very back seats available *July 28th - San Diego - SDSU Open Air Theatre - very back seats available The Pittsburg, Atlanta, and Toledo shows also seem on the verge of being sold out up to the Lawn, but not enough to list them. The Backyard in Austin is selling well too. The only shows that seem to be selling slowly are the HUGE venue shows - The PNC Bank Arts Centre, Jones Beach & Red Rocks Amphitheatre. PNC is odd because up until recently only seats in the 400's (the very back) were available, and then a week or so ago seats in the 100s and the 200s became available again. I have a feeling they put the tickets onsale in blocks... to spread out the crowd. So this venue may actually be relatively full, but they're selling the remainder of the good seats at this later date. However, Jones Beach and Red Rocks appear to be only 50% sold at this point. That's about it. This tour is definitely selling much better than the Spirit Tour.. although the Spirit Tour was in MUCH larger venues. However, most of the shows on This Tour should be basically sold out, which is good for Jewel. A lot of you have asked how you can help promote developing artists like the ones in Soul City Cafe ArtBeat. For those who live in one of the eight Soul City Cafe event areas, we've designed a downloadable flyer that you can print yourself and distribute. Here's how to access them. It's easy, free and fun. 1. Visit http://www.jeweljk.com/SCCflyers/sccflyers.html and choose the flyer appropriate for Ft Lauderdale/Miami, Wantagh/NYC, Boston, Rochester Hills/Detroit, Cleveland, Grand Prairie/Dallas, Los Angeles or San Diego (coming soon). 2. Following the instructions, download and print the flyer. 3. Make lots of copies. 4. Distribute the flyers. You can pass the flyers out on campus, in front of concerts and clubs. Check with your local coffee shops, independent record stores, and book stores - ask them if it's OK to post the flyer on their window, wall, or bulletin board. This is your chance to reach out to fellow music fans and introduce them to Jewel's music and her latest project, Soul City Cafe ArtBeat. Be creative and have fun. Please remember to ask permission prior to posting flyers and stay away from mailboxes. Thank you in advance for your help in getting the word out about the Soul City Cafe ArtBeat series in your city. ******************************************** ***SCC SCHEDULING UPDATES Here is an updated schedule for Soul City Cafe ArtBeat shows during Jewel's U.S. Tour.
