I don't like the twangy beginning. I also think SIBTW would be good, but faster/rockier than she has it on the album. Serve the Ego would be cool too, and New Wild West. Oh, hell. "she's not what she used to be" people said. she shouldn't care about singles or hits. most of you angels don't like her hits like ywmfm or wwsys anyways. you like the lesser known songs. if the radio doesn't play her songs fine, you will still listen to them on your cd player. pink floyd couldn't care about hits. and they did just fine. jewel really doesn't need the money does she? soon she'll be as famous as madonna and you guys will dis her for not being like she used to in her jewelstock days. i think she shouldn't release any more singles. ps. i vote for LMJLMA. stacy the ct angel who woke up on the wrong side of the bed ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 09:04:31 EDT From: SullMa84@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC: M2M's new cd & Bearsville So I got m2m's new cd a few days ago just to have it, and it is actually really, really good. They actually write their own songs, according to the cd. Also, I thought it was cool that most of the album was recorded at the Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, just like some songs on POY... Anyways, the first single from it, Everything, (which I don't think is being played in the US) is really addicting! I've had it in my head all day and it's really catching and just a fun song. There is also a song called "Don't" that is really cool....so if you were thinking about buying the cd i think you should becuase it's really cool. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 May 2002 09:22:27 -0400 From: "Connell, Michael P" Subject: RE: [EDA] NJC: M2M's new cd & Bearsville > So I got m2m's new cd a few days ago just to have it, and it is actually > really, really good. Actually, none of POY (Pieces Of You) was recorded there. It was Jewel's second CD that WAS being recorded there, but was ultimately scrapped (the never-released Fritz Creek Store). However, one song on Jewel's second released CD (Spirit) was half-recorded at JewelStock, the 14th/hidden song on that CD, "This Little Bird". Jewel's mom Lenedra sang it solo at JewelStock (Jewelstock tapes, tape 1, side A), and they used that exact track for the Spirit version, with Jewel recording her part in the studio where Spirit was recorded. She will not be able to play her guitar onstage because of a horse riding accident last month that left her with a broken collarbone and rib. ``It's a little weird. ... I guess I'll have to polish up my dance routine,'' the 27-year-old singer joked in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Monday. Jewel said while she usually does a couple of songs without it, she's usually strumming her guitar throughout her performances. ``It's like a security blanket,'' she said. Because of the accident, Jewel was forced to cancel her first two dates on the tour, which will now start May 13 in Germany instead of the planned Friday start in Italy. The singer was thrown from a colt she was riding on the Texas ranch of her rodeo champion boyfriend, Ty Murray. ``He was really green, and he started bucking with me,'' Jewel said of the horse. Despite the accident, Jewel isn't hesitant about getting on a horse again. ``I've ridden colts my whole life,'' she said. ``When you work around livestock, you're going to get hurt.'' ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 10:03:09 EDT From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] new photos/games Hey Guys Check out jeweljk.com! Dennis of the Harris clan... what more can be said? His evil plots have been behind so many successful EDA events (and notice an EDA "gathering" turns into an "event" if Dennis attends... Check the archives :-) .) His little pep talks have led me to several great things I would have missed otherwise (If you've met him, you know the talks I mean... some one will say "well, I can't go to the next concert tomorrow because of distance, work, money, etc" and by the end of the conversation the same person will be saying something like "Yup, I'll see ya'll there first thing in the morning!" I could easily play "I can top your Harris story," but the true feel of the moment (like all good moments) would be lost in the translation. Last time I talked to him on the phone he ended up burning his supper because of taking the time to sort through my problems of the time, that is just the type of guy he is. Rowdy You've been around a Harris if: 1. If you have ever hugged a grown man standing on the side of a very busy freeway. 2. After reading a post of his about an event you think "gee it is only a three day bus ride from here, and I could get there if I leave today" 3. The idea of roping a plywood cow in a crowded place seems perfectly logical. 4. Laying on the floor of a hotel room watching people that were complete strangers a day ago ballet dance with a stuffed dog is not scary, but hilarious. 5. Roping a plywood cow in a small hotel room after midnight. 6. Sleeping with said cow and dog in front of said strangers. 7. Quitting any job to be free to travel for an EDA gathering. 8. Getting complete strangers in a Denny's to make funny faces for photos. (what happened to those anyway, Dennis, Amy?) Anyway, I could go on, but you get the point :-) rw ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #197 ***************************
