I don't see why many people don't like it. Not many artists would sacrifice a 4 minute space where they can show some skin and some dancing (a tipical music video nowadays) to cover a human aspect + issue (as done in Break Me). AND... it is also very well done + fun (at least for me) to see many people singing the song... Mirko Yahoo! I don't think i should be let out of my Jewel fantacy world. I can be pretty hard on other musicans. ~Jewel Fan~ http://www.angelfire.com/sk/killorgeteven (long story about the name of the URL. If you listen to the audio it's pretty easy to pick out the strumming pattern. (oh and for Jamie's site its "jeweltabs" NOT "jeweltab". Jeweltab will take you to another site with broken links. (if the person who has that site is on this list, your links are broken) Peace, cymbie "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching." - -Bono ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 21:21:04 +0200 From: "Koos van Zyl" Subject: [EDA] Chart Update: SS @ #9. The singer of Five for Fighting, John (?), kept saying how wonderful it was to be in this with all these great songwriters (Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Ryan Adams, Goo Goo Dolls) at the same time. Five for Fighting, BTW, is awesome on stage! Really great. John Mayer was awesome of course. Everyone, actually, was just great. Okay, now the Jewel content. They had this karaoke thing and they had all these songs we could sing for prizes. Almost everyone sang Jewel ... it made me so happy =) Then right before I was going to sing, this man started singing YWMFM ... but the "Steve version"! The ..."poke the yokes with my fork" version. Heheh, very cool. I wonder who that was .. anyone here? I know there had to be a few EDAs there ... just no one who posts. I wish all you So. Cal. EDAs would speak up ... we're nice folks, you know. And it'd be nice to meet some of you. And, oh yeah, they also had a huge "Get well Jewel" poster that everyone was signing. That was nice. Anyway, if anyone ever has a chance, you should try to see any of those artists mentioned above live ... they're great performers. Elizabeth, the tennis-ball-whacking angel P.S. Jewel is in the magazine "Women Who Rock," which is I think a new quarterly magazine (kinda like Blender except made by the people who make one of the guiatr magazines). The first magazine was the 100 women who rock most, or something like that and I guess Jewel wasn't in it because in this issue, a few people sent letters expressing their dismayal. I mean, they had Destiny's Child in there ... and yet, no Jewel! Oh well. But anyway, she's in this issue, but only a little picture with a quote. The picture is one of the This WAy promo pics ... the color one where her hair is flowing and she's wearing the black tank. And the quote says something about (I don't have the magazine with me ) "In silence ..." something .. sorry. Anyway, thought I'd mention that because some people like to collect little Jewel tidbits. Maybe it's just me that doesn't see the connection. Who knows. She got her new book by her signed, and while she was signing it, she asked what modern-day poets that she liked. And she told me that Maya said "that Jewel girl has a good book out"...so that was kinda cool! ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #183 ***************************
