There are grammatical mistakes and short and unneccessary sentences. Or, my pet-peeve ... using "however" and "unfortunately" excessively. I think there were like three sentences in a row that went "Unfortunately ..." "However ..." hmm .. too lazy to go back and refer to the article. Taken from CNN.com: http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/26/obit.lopes/index.html LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, member of hip-hop R&B group TLC, was killed in a car accident Thursday in Honduras, her record label reported early Friday. "We had all grown up together and were as close as a family. Today we have truly lost our sister," said her band members, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, in a statement released by Diggit Entertainment. Lopes was on vacation in the Central American country where she often visited, said TLC manager Bill Diggins. He received a phone call about 11 p.m. Thursday from authorities in Honduras, reporting the accident. Diggins said seven other people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident and no one else was injured. He was told that Lopes was killed instantly. "No words can possibly express the sorrow and sadness I feel for this most devastating loss," said Antonio "L.A." Reid, president and CEO of Arista Records, who has known the group for about 10 years. "Lisa was not only a gifted and talented musical inspiration, but more importantly, she was like a daughter to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa's family and friends. Her legacy will be remembered forever." Funeral arrangements were pending. The service is scheduled to take place in Atlanta. Lopes recently launched her solo career with the album "Supernova," released internationally earlier this year. She rose to stardom as a member of TLC -- named for the members' initials -- with hits such as "Waterfalls," "Baby, Baby, Baby" and "No Scrubs." Lopes also gained notoriety in 1994, when she set fire to the Atlanta-area mansion she shared with football-player beau Andre Rison. Seven years later, the couple planned to marry, but the wedding was called off at the last minute. TLC had been recording a new album in an Atlanta studio for release later this year. Rest in peace. I have videos and tapes and cd's of Jewel from 'back in the day' (why do I feel so old when I say those words?) and what she was then is far from what she is now. NOT that I don't like what she is now, but there is a vast difference. Now a few years ago (I used to go under a geocities address, but it just stopped working a while back) I was one of the ones standing up for Jewel against the "OMG-She's-Changed" people. However, I was jogged to my senses at the taping of Austin City Limits back in early 2000. Even though she cussed and dared them to censor her on the final cut (which they did), something just struck me as wrong. It wasn't the Jewel I knew. I even stepped back and stopped following her career and the list for awhile. But I'm willing to compromise now (I think). But I just really long for the Jewel that acted up on stage and sang twisted racy songs and had the occasional screw up and forgot her lyrics or chords or something. I liked that Jewel. :-) She was real. I do however like M2M (though I'm apparently in the minority here, but I really don't much care what anyone else thinks) and I'm actually excited to see them as well when I attend the Austin concert. (to which I have 2 extra tickets for the 5th row if anyone is interested). I never thought this could happen to an angel in the musicindustry! All i can say that all prayers by god prevented Jewel to keep singing for her fans! She still has a lot to offer to her fans! With her upcoming european tour, jewel could consider bringing steve poltz with her because they cowrote a lot of songs and he knows how to play them!! To bring Steve to european gigs would give jewel the opportunity to sing duets , so that she can improvise when steve is playing the guitar!! I never thought this can happen to the singer that she got injured, but at least jewel is still there!! i hope she can play guitar once again in september during her special accoustic concert tour!! let4s wait and see what happens! i would say jewel would really be cool if she takes steve poltz on european tour!! that would rock! bye Michiel Yahoo! You can't just take a look at the tabs and start playing the song well ... you'd have to, at the very least, be somewhat familiar with the song in order to pull it off...I'm sure although Jewel's bandmates have been with her for a while, they aren't familiar enough with most of these songs to even attempt to play them at demand off of guitar tabs. You can't just expect someone to play something that they not only have never played before, but most likely have never even heard before. > i really hope that she can > play at least accoustic guitar in september when i am > going to see 9 accoustic concerts in california. As stated in the jewelink, she should be able to play guitar again in about 4-6 weeks, so I wouldn't worry about the concerts in september :) ~ Sandy - - http://angeloflove.envy.nu - ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #181 ***************************
