Well, maybe you guys all just need to move to the mortheast :) I work in a mall (well, you *could* call it that... not too much left in there anymore, but that's another story :P) and every once in a while, they'll switch the Sears store radio to what's playing out in the mall, and they play Jewel songs quite often. I've heard Standing Still several times, and You Were Meant For Me, Jupiter, Down So Long, and a few others. As for radio play, the local stations I listen to (92 Pro FM, Mix 98.5, others) seem to like playing Jewel. I heard Break Me on the radio this morning for the first time (first time on the radio, not hearing the song :P). So when I read about everyone trying to rally up Jewel support at your local stations, makes me wonder why there aren't more stations like mine :) End pointless post... ===== * http://www.geocities.com/quattj/ http://www.?p3.com/TheMasterCow * ]:o_ Jason Quattrini The Master Cow _o:[ |O = "I am a WERECOW! And I think it would be great to include drawings, notes, quotes, etc... I could be like our "Chasing Down the Dawn" book to her. I know we aren't supposed to send poetry, etc... unless we give up all rights so use that information as you will. Once I get something that looks somewhat nice together, I'll send another e-mail out so that I can get some addresses. We have to have another person in the chain to send it to! Also, Mike, do you have connections to be sure that Jewel got this, or would we have to send it to the fan mail address? I really think this is a good idea, so I hope quite a few people will participate. If you are interested, please send me your mailing address and I'll make a list that can go with the book. No, actually you cannot send anything like that. Jewel and her team would not be able to accept anything that contains original lyrics, poetry, short stories etc. It's for legal reasons. Jewel took a tumble off her horse Wednesday while vacationing at the Texas ranch of her boyfriend, rodeo star Ty Murray, according to a statement on her Website. The pop singer and onetime actress, who's an experienced rider, reportedly lost control of her colt and banged herself up pretty good. She sustained a broken rib, collarbone, knocks and bruises--but was reportedly in good condition. Ron Shapiro, co-president of Atlantic Records, Jewel's record label, said her injuries weren't serious enough to warrant an ambulance. "They've confirmed to me that nothing was life-threatening," Shapiro told the Associated Press. "But she is badly hurt." The 27-year-old Alaska native wasn't taken to a hospital. Instead, her beau Murray--who obviously has plenty of experience hitting the dirt since he does it for a living--drove her to his orthopedic surgeon for treatment. While she's on the mend, Jewel, whose real name is Jewel Kilcher, will have to wear a collar and a sling for at least a month. Doctors have given her strict orders not to travel for the next two weeks. Unfortunately, the injury has forced her to nix plans for a promotional trek in support of her latest album, This Way, and it also may affect a European tour that's scheduled to kick off May 10. However, Jewel, who made her acting debut in Ang Lee's Ride With the Devil, should recover in time to hit the road stateside. The U.S. leg of her tour is due to begin June 14 in Tampa, Florida. "I think it was a freak accident. She does ride horses very frequently," Shapiro told the AP. By the way, the first single off Jewel's This Way is the ironically titled "Standing Still." The album also includes the bonus tracks "Break Me," "Long Slow Slide" and "New Wild West." All told, it's been a rough month for celebrities and farm animals. Jewel's horseplay comes nearly a week after Robert Duvall took a spill off a horse while training for Kevin Costner's upcoming Western, Open Range. The 71-year-old Oscar winning actor is reportedly okay and will be ready to saddle up in time for the film to start shooting June 3 in Alberta, Canada. Just three weeks before Duvall's fall, Grammy-winning country crooner Lyle Lovett had his own rodeo adventure as he was trampled by a bull at his uncle's farm in Houston. The 44-year-old singer suffered a broken leg in the incident while rushing to the aid of his uncle, who had fallen off the animal while working on his farm. Lovett was hospitalized for three days and underwent a two-hour operation to repair the damage. Doctors said it will take six months until he makes a full recovery. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 20:20:06 EDT From: DixieJewelAngel@aol.com Subject: [EDA] LoL news article... Additional information follows. ******************************************** JEWEL INJURED IN HORSE RIDING ACCIDENT EUROPEAN AND NORTH AMERICAN TOURS STILL SLATED Atlantic recording artist Jewel was injured yesterday when she was thrown from a horse in Texas, sustaining a broken collarbone and first rib, as well as bruises. She has been treated by an orthopedic surgeon in Dallas and, fortunately, her injuries are not life threatening or permanent. Jewel was visiting her boyfriend, rodeo champion Ty Murray, at his ranch in central Texas when the accident occurred. A lifelong horse rider, Jewel was taking a brief break from traveling the world in support of her latest RIAA platinum album, "THIS WAY." Jewel's next scheduled concert appearance was to have been this Saturday, April 27th, at Los Angeles radio station STAR 98.7 FM's "Fan Nation 2" concert in Irvine, California. Due to the accident, Jewel has had to cancel this performance, where she was to debut her new single, "Break Me." However, she is still determined to embark on her European tour, which is slated to begin on May 10th. According to her doctor, she should be able to sing within two weeks, although it will be four to six weeks before she can play guitar. In the meantime, Jewel's guitar parts will be played by her band. Jewel should be able to resume playing guitar in time for the opening of her North American tour on June 14th. A full recovery is expected within 12 weeks. ******************************************** In addition to that formal statement, we want you to know that Jewel appreciates the well-wishes that some of you have already expressed to us. Because the J-team will ensure they get to Jewel in Texas...ransfer to he via overnight mail or something like that. They most certainly do not want to post Ty's address, or even his PO Box for him or his fan mail, as they'd get Jewel fan-mail there for the rest of his natural life. :-) Another option would have been to set up a special PO Box for Jewel there in Texas, but they probably didn't think of it, or wanted to get the word out now as to where to send stuff.
