'Sup. I agree with Sandy. I don't see any problem with re-selling tickets as long as it doesn't harm Jewel. There might be an EDA that didn't get tickets so they'll purchase them from a dealer. It's obviously not kewel to sign on to JeweLink just to buy and sell tickets, but nothing is fool proof. Artists put tickets up for auction above the face value for charity all the time and that's perfectly okay. To me, there shouldn't be exceptions made to the "principle" that people keep talking about just because "it's for charity." So regardless of whether it's for profit or for charity, the principle shouldn't change. The world is about give and take. For that $300, you are paying for the person's effort (and possibly skill or by whatever means) at attaining the tickets. You can't compute what the actual "value" of a concert ticket is. If I am willing to spend my money that I saved up to buy better seats because I wasn't lucky enough to get good seats or any seats at all...I wouldn't feel like I was doing anything wrong. What if the standard ticket price was $300 rather than $40-$50? Whoever assigned a $50 price for the ticket could've assigned a $0.99 price tag. The point I'm getting at is that we could go on and on...why not charge exactly how much it costs Atlantic and Jewel to keep the tour going? Because people want to profit. Jewel isn't food or drink...she's a luxury. Rare BMWs are marked up because there is a demand for them and they are hard to get...the same reason Jewel tickets are marked up. Alrite...everyone...all together now....OOOOHHWELLL....SOMETIMES IT BE THAT WAY..... - - Wilcher. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Apr 2002 13:40:41 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Quattrini Subject: [EDA] Comments about eBay and about tickets For those of you who didn't get front row seating, if I read correctly, the pre-sale tickets were only *some* of the good seats. This means there should still be good seating left for anyone who didn't get them from the pre-sale when regular tickets go on sale :P As far as eBay is concerned, as far as I know, it is against their policy (and possibly illegal) for people to sell tickets through their site at higher than regular price, so if you do see any up there, notify eBay's people, and they will stop the auction and keep those people from making big money through eBay off the tickets... ===== * http://www.geocities.com/quattj/ http://www.?p3.com/TheMasterCow * ]:o_ Jason Quattrini The Master Cow _o:[ |O = "I am a WERECOW! It sounds as though many EDAs managed to get very good seats, and although I had a couple of problems (finding the link for the Toronto show, among others), I wound up with a ticket for both of the shows I want to attend (Connecticut and Toronto, where I'm in row I at Massey Hall - one row behind you Steve!) ...so that's great! Looking forward to seeing some familar faces, and meeting new EDA's at the shows. Kudos again Alan, for thinking of a meaningful way to demonstrate again Jewel's appreciation for her most ardent fans.Cheers everyone,GerryPS I am extremly impressed with Amanda's efforts to get that EDA material set up so quickly on such a variety of items. As we vets know, getting these kind of projects off the ground in the EDA community is often akin to herding cats. Great job Amanda! I checked, and under their ticket policy http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-tickets.html and only certain states are regulated with the resale of tickets, mine being one of them :P So have a look if you feel someone is taking undue (is that even a word?) advantage of the pre-sale. I would've never use this song for something like that, it's incredible how he song lent it self for it. Hey, I just finished this today, and I thought I'd put it on here to see what you all think of it. Since Alisa has done this before, I thought, why not? Also, most of the songs I usually write are more punk and straight to the point. My friends have a good appreciation for those, but one like this they may not appreciate as much because it has a little more to it. Well, tell me what you all think! Everything Burns These pictures burn my eyes, so full of doubt and fear./ I look around the room. How long will it be before I get out of here?/ Just when I thought I had some hope, it's now gone./ But somehow this fire inside me keeps burning on./ (chorus:) So pour water on the sparks. Smother the flames./ Extinguish the fire, still it will stay the same,/ Because somehow, somewhere this fire keeps urging me on./ When I think it's too much God whispers, "Stay strong."/ Your eyes are dead as you look acrossed the room right at me,/ Piercing into my soul. For a moment I stop and try to believe/ That I take everything wrong. If only it were true/ This fire wouldn't be devouring me, and neither would you./ (Chorus) And if I'm tired of the icy looks you try to dround me in,/ And if I knock hard enough will you finally let me in?/ (Chorus) Tell me why this burns/ And everything hurts. ~ Fairy Angel ~ ..."Look for a lovely thing and you will find it.
