["Jennifer Teapot" Subject: Re: [EDA] preferred seating Radiohead limits the number of tickets per person AND they have you pick them up at the box office on the day of the show (Will Call). Springsteen limited the first 10 rows on the floor to a 2 ticket limit AND they had to be picked up at the box office. I think it was Pearl Jam who limited the special ticket distribution to 2 tickets in one locality, i.e. I wouldn't be able to get preferred seating in Los Angeles and San Diego, I would have to choose one location. U2, Dylan, and Tori Amos have all done the deal where you sign up on their website and get a password in advance, but from my experience that pool of tickets either disappeared quickly or wasn't as good as the pool that was made available for the regular on-sale. The most important components to a preferred seating offer are (1) 2 ticket limit, (2) Will Call pick-up with photo ID and credit card, and (3) limit to 1 venue on the tour. >Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 00:01:39 -0800 >From: "Larry G." >Subject: Re: [EDA] prefered seating > >They limit it to list members, and they email them a special code, which >is used through ticketmaster. >That's how Dylan does it; Melisa Ethereidge, too. > >Mike Connell wrote: > > How do other artists do it? > > Mike :-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 18:37:58 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Another onsale date announced According to ticketmaster, Jewel's July 13th concert at the Northrop Auditorium in Minneapolis is going onsale on the 23rd of March, which would be THIS SATURDAY. I don't know if the preferred seating thing will apply for that concert. I would guess not. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 18:36:01 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Preferred seating - misunderstandings Hey Guys I think everybody is seriously misunderstanding the whole preferred seating deal. I would like to draw all your attention to a particular sentence in the JeweLink email: "We've made arrangements to set aside premium seats for most of the venues on Jewel's North American This Way Tour that will be available exclusively to JeweLink and our Street Team members!" ... it specifically says that these tickets will be available EXCLUSIVELY to JeweLink and Street Team members. When they say there will be a link to Jewel's website, I think they mean that the tickets will be available through a special page on Jewel's website that will be only accessible for streetteam and jewelink members.... I don't think they mean that there will be a link from the mainpage on Jewel's website so that anybody who happens to pass by will have access. I agree it's a little bit confusing, but if you actually READ THE WORDS in the email it becomes pretty obvious that their intention is to make these tickets available to only JeweLink and Streetteam members. They also specify that the tickets WILL be premium seats, be it floor seats or front row or whatever. It seems a little silly that the tickets won't be available prior to Ticketmaster's onsale times, because that means that if you don't end up getting a ticket through this preferred seating deal then you are late in terms of getting seats on regular ticketmaster, and may not get a good seat at all... Nonetheless, this is preferred seating for JeweLink and Streetteam members.. not for the general traffic of Jewel's website. Just read the email carefully. I have a feeling this means that she's doing a second leg of her US Tour. She's probably taking time off after the initial 30 or so dates.. and then coming back in September and doing another string of dates. I was told by somebody a while back that the tour would be ending in California in September.... and when all the dates were announced I thought he was talking shit... but it seems maybe he wasn't! Anyway - that's something to look forward to for those who haven't got a confirmed concert in their area. Derrick was "temporarily kicked off", the list has become boring, in turn pushing us veterans (at least myself) back into our lurking states, uninterested in latest discussions.. I for one give digests a once-over and don't give much thought anymore, since the list has continually lost its personality... But that's just me.. There just is a lack of irrelevent posts to the things. Besides, I find that not every single post requires commenting. A lot of this info, we've kind of known for a while now. It's not that exciting, sorry. I think the list is in fine shape right now. The news isn't just exciting. I mean, the "preferred" seating thing isn't really worth commenting on because we don't know the whole story yet. All we CAN do is wait ... and that's what we're doing. This is not the slowest the list has been. There have been several periods when the list has not been acive as we saw a few months earlier.
