How do so many get away with this? Easy... just sneak the stuff in. I have a large bag (i carry alot of things with me wherever I go, lol... ) so I can take a recorder in easily... as long as they don't do bag searches, which is more common now, since 9/11. I went to see John Mayer and they made everyone with cameras get out of line and put them back in their cars, and they made the guys empty their pockets, and looked inside all the girl's bags. Usually recorders are also easier to get away with than cameras... when I saw Jewel in '99, I brought a camera and a recorder. I was in 5th row... awesome seat for pictures, I took one picture, and the security guy came up to me and told me to stop. He didn't see my recorder though. :) > Also, I thought Jewel wanted her fans to be able to > enjoy here live shows even if they couldn't attend > them??? In '96 her policies were different.... she's more famous now, and there's more risk of "professional" bootleggers coming in, recording the show and trying to sell it later. > What are some tips for trying to meet Jewel? Write a letter to her, and say you're dying of (name of disease here) and you have 1 month to live.... and that you're last dying wish is to meet Jewel. Hey... it's possible that will work. (j/k...... i was kidding... don't lie about something like that) You can always do what Michiel did...by requesting her to sing an OLD song, and her saying she doesn't remember it, hold up the lyrics and maybe she'll invite you on stage :-) > Etiquette for autographs?? I'm not going to get into where I stand on the whole 'asking for autographs" issue anymore, so I can't help you there. - -Cymbie "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching." - -Bono ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 20:00:55 -0000 From: "Chris Groves" Subject: Re: [EDA] Concert Questions > I posted once before asking about taking pictures at > Jewel's concerts and recording them... If the concert is outside the US then you shouldn't have any problems taking photos. Some people think it's impolite to use a flash, but if everybody else is doing it then you may as well too. > > What are some tips for trying to meet Jewel? If you don't have any media contacts who can get you a backstage pass then I suggest you get to the venue and hope to say hello to Jewel when she arrives for the soundcheck. She usually arrives by the artist's entrance/ stage door. Similarly hang around at the end of the concert (with the dozens of other fans) until she leaves. > Etiquette for autographs?? Ask politely. She rarely refuses. I too am really frustrated. She seems to be skipping the midwest-- only Texas, Colorado and Chicago are represented. I guess I can't complain too much-- she's come to Kansas City a lot, but I'm still a little sad. Maybe this calls for a ROAD TRIP to Chicago this summer :) that can't be too bad! ~Rachel~ - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 15:28:11 -0600 From: "Rachel DeSchepper" Subject: Re: [EDA] jewel live >Maybe it would be best if they just released a videotape of one concert so >that everything would be included and their could be a cd available too. >sort of like an MTV Unplugged thing. I find myself forgetting that night-- anyone else? It was so surreal to be there and I've forgotten stuff. An unabridged version of this concert-- audio or visual would be perfect. ~Rachel~ - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. Not all of us are of the age/in the position to get to any concert that we would like to. If it was a matter of it just being far away, and me having to drive, it wouldn't be the same.. But I have no license, and my parents aren't exactly going to shell out for a plane/bus ticket for me to go alone to another state to see Jewel.. They wouldn't let me go in the first place, plus I don't have the money for all the transportation.. So, no, we can't all get to a concert, no matter how much we'd like to. scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Yahoo! Hi Ally and everyone interested in Living Room Concerts (LRC's)... The EDA's have been holding LRC's for what? about 4 or 5 years now. We have even sponsored full nationwide Living Room Tours which were mentioned in an article in Rolling Stone a few years back. It is SUCH a fun way to see a show because it's intimate and relaxed, the artist is at ease, and everyone in the audience is there to listen to the music, not get drunk and talk loudly while someone happens to be singing in the background. And with the amazing talent that's been presented in past shows, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someday we're bragging to our friends about how we got to see some huge star in someone's living room a few years back! Following is a repost of the upcoming New Jersey LRC announcement. I forgot to mention in the original post that there is a minimum donation of $5 for the show (all donations go directly to the artists to help defray costs). Anyone who is considering attending, please let me know ASAP! I may be able to arrange carpools as well, so let me know if you're interested but are not sure how you'll get there. ******** All list members and their friends are invited to attend a Living Room Concert on Saturday, March 23rd, featuring the lovely Randi Driscoll and the equally lovely EDA Amy Emerman. For those of you who have only heard about the magic of a Living Room show, this is your chance to see what the excitement is all about! Los Angeles resident Randi Driscoll, who entertained EDAF beach cleanup participants a few seasons ago at the Campbell's, is going to be back in town to promote her new album The Play. She's gained national recognition for her song "What Matters" from which she gives all proceeds to the Matthew Shepard Foundation and other anti-hate charities. The song is also going to be featured in an upcoming NBC movie about Matthew Shepard's life. (For more info & downloads, visit www.randidriscoll.com) Amy Emerman is a New York City based singer/songwriter who has just begun to take her love of singing and playing to a wider audience. Amy, who's musical influences include Jewel, Patty Griffin, and Natalie Merchant, has just cut her work schedule to part time to make room for music, singing and songwriting to play a larger part in her life. Please come out and support the rise of these talented singer songwriters! There will be some refreshments provided and you are welcome to bring additional food & beverages. THE DETAILS: Date: Saturday, March 23, 2002 Time: 4:30 Party starts 6:00 Amy Emerman 7:00 Randi Driscoll Place: Cliffside Park, NJ; easily accessible by car or bus RSVP: Amy Neufeld at w1ggy2@aol.com for exact address and details. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 20:02:52 EST From: Rasputina11@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Re:Jewel Boots Hey All~ can anyone give me some links or e-mail me about anyone who does B+P s of Jewel Boots? ~Thanks ~ Sasha - the Vegas Angel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 20:33:15 EST From: rawhite78@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Living Room Concerts? Speaking of which... I listen to National Public Radio quite a bit, and they had a segment during Weekend Edition today about Living Room Concerts (aka house concerts) There are over 300 regular house concert sites in the US, and the number is growing. It felt cool to listen to the article after having attending a few LRCs. They are amazingly intimate affairs... The artist is right there almost within arms reach... If you ever get the chance, go.. It is great. anyway, my two cents... Rowdy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 23:46:20 EST From: Jamiegrey1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] tabs and karaoke Hey guys... I added a new feature to the site...if you click on the link that says real audio, it will open a real audio file of me playing that song on guitar--just guitar. I understand that there are a lot of people who don't have a guitar and who don't know how to play guitar, so for those who just wanna sing along, here ya go. They probably won't be perfect, and if I mess up while recording it, I probably won't go back and redo it everytime, but if there's too much wrong with one, email me or sign the guestbook and tell me. Also if you have any requests for ones to do next (tabs and music), just sign the guestbook or email me. I need to know if I should continue doing this or if I'm wasting my time...so far all I've done is Boy Needs A Bike and She Cries...enjoy, guys. =) You can get there through my site http://www.geocities.com/greyjamie or http://www.geocities.com/jeweltabs Jamie ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #99 **************************
