For my poetry class I need to write a paper on a poet. Wwe need to pick 3 poems by that poet that have similiar themes, and discuss the way the poet uses imagery, sound and so forth to express the themes. We also need to use at least one outside source that is a critical analysis on that poets work. My teacher said he doesn't think I can do Jewel for my paper because there wouldn't be any of these outside sources. Personally I got the feeling that he really doesn't respect Jewel as a poet, so he didn't want me to use her. I really want to show this man that she is a great poet by writing an awesome paper.......so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a critical analysis or two on Jewel work. It seems entirely re-recorded... even the vocals (although I'm not sure on that). It has sort of heavy electric guitars in places and... it's very sort of ... well, hard to describe. It's a good single... if Atlantic puts a little money into it, it'll probably be a big hit. It got one add yesterday (2 weeks before the impact date), so that's a reasonably good sign. I like that so much better than the album version. definietly more upbeat than the album version. I highly doubt the vocals were re recorded.... sounds exactly the same to me. But I guess the different music can make her voice sound a little different. I didn't think it would have been a good choice single before (with the music on the album), but the way it was redone, I think it will be great. I'm curious to see how it will turn out.... I mean, since just about all the songs on Spirit flopped, and radio mostly plays POY songs.... I hope radio will once again recognize Jewel.... then maybe soon, if they start playing Jewel and other musicians with true talent more.... the reign of the teenyboppers will be over! I miss hearing good stuff on the radio. Also, I think the way it was remixed, it makes for a nice song with the band.... I usally would have perferred the song solo acoustic, but it does sound really good this way. anyways, thanks for the link so we could hear the audio.... i heard it straight through without any buffering (that's a first for me!), and I really liked what I heard. She's taking off like 1 day here, another couple of days there, then 2 weeks between Europe and US..and then again...it's a fun job I guess, but it's just the traveling that kills I guess. She might have people doing stuff for her , but still you have to get your butt going.. For the Florida shows I'm going to go to the one in Ft Lauderdale and the one in Orlando.. I don't understand why would she start in Tampa, then drive down (or jet or whatever) down here , it's like about 4 hours and then go back up to Orlando the next day..same drive time.., would've made more sense to start down here and work your way up, Orlando and Tampa are like 45 minutes away from each other.. Anyway, if anyone wants to meet up for Ft Lauderdale or Orlando or need some info for south fl let me know..I plan to buy front row, I really hope I don't have to go to the tickets services this time..last time she was here I paid $300 for 2 front row and the guy next to me paid like $30 for his , he got to the ticket master 2 hours before it opened.. I'll try to do that this time, I'm sooooo broke...
