Hey, come on guys. Marit and Marion (M2M) are both pretty damn talented, and of course pretty cute ;) , you should give them a chance. I would love to see them as an opening act. I'd rather see them as there own concert. And correct me if I'm wrong, they were doing that Pokemon "Don't Say You Love Me" stuff when they were 13-14, and it was a hit. In my eyes this is pretty young to be so talented. Also on their "Shades of Purple" album there are a handful of good songs, it's not all bad. They were teenagers then trying to make music for a teenage crowd, what do you expect? Now they both would be around 17-18 years old, I'm sure they sound so much better now and their music style could have completely changed. You shouldn't judge them on an album that was made 3-4 years ago, do you still judge Jewel on Spirit? My opinion anyways :) Take Care Daniel "There is a paradise that can be found... Sort of poppy, but the one girl plays guitar and piano, and the songs were pretty good writing for someone of that age (whether or not it's pop, you have to give credit to their writing). When I was 16, I couldn't even write a structured song that could sell. But that was then.... (the poppiness) and they're older now, becoming adults, maybe their writing has changed. But regardless, give them a chance. It's not fair to judge them based on what they did when they were kids. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Feb 2002 06:01:16 -0800 (PST) From: Jeff Koko Subject: [EDA] Re: Atlantic Artists STP & Jewel...wow. OK so we've heard 'they're cute', 'don't judge them based on what they did when they were kids' and stuff... Are we forgetting that Jewel was writing songs like 'Money' and 'Who Will Save Your Soul' when she was 15/16? Come on, I for one expect a lot more of people who are going to be supporting Jewel. And it's bad for her image too - as soon as someone who listens to real music finds out that M2M are supporting Jewel, there's not going to be a chance that they'll buy her album. These people won't know that M2M have better songs now or anything like that - they'll associate her even more with selling out than they already do. I'm willing to give M2M a chance if I do see them with Jewel - that is if they're playing instruments and their songs aren't *too* poppy - but you can bet that Jewel will go further down in a lot of people's estimations. Subject: [EDA] opening stuff Since I haven't heard anything official, I won't talk as if M2M is opening for Jewel....but IF for some reason they are....then I think it's cause they are on Atlantic (one of my predictions...the opening act being on the same label), and cause they are female, pretty much a given it was going to be "some" female or females, and also cause they are younger, and cater to a younger audience...much like Michelle and Vanessa do. And are poppier than Jewel....a little. So that would also cater to even a wider audience, and more mainstream = more money, more people at the shows, more money, more exposure, more money. Did I mention something about money? :-) 100% genuine Atlantic fashion. They're playing it safe. I haven't heard much about M2M but have heard of them, and a few of their songs here and there...nothing in the past couple years though. They're not completely horrible, and I would compare them to a non-country Dixie Chicks...minus one member. That's the closest I can think of. They're more pop than anything else. And they make Michelle Branch seem more like Lita Ford or Joan Jett. ;-) But as someone else said (if they are really opening), it could have been alot worse. But I'll still wait to hear something official since I don't jump on bandwagons or partake in rumor mill activity. So right now my vote is still for Vanessa Carlton, or STP...hehe. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Feb 2002 11:43:45 -0500 (EST) From: space_bandits@webtv.net Subject: RE: [EDA] M2M opening.....
