Yours were not, but I doubt most of the list wishes to engage in a discussion about the basics of statistical samplings. Hi Haven't seen Jewel on MTV nor VH1 yet, but I was surprised to hear last month Standing Still being played on a local radio station, and at the club of my univeristy. Not bad for a single that was not supposed to be available yet (but then, they have been playing Faih Hill (another fav for me) a lot, and she is mostly unknown here, except for the Pearl Harbor song) And on a side note, I'm very happy because I just got today my tickets for the concert in Hamburg... 1st row tickets :) (my wallet is not as happy as I am, but that's another story...) I guess that wasn't the case last night though. Jewel was still off key in some areas, and her voice keeps getting weaker and weaker each time I see her. Very disappointing. I think Letterman was joking at the end, but that would be funny if she was on again tonight. I sort of doubt it though. That bass player is really annoying. He needs to stop bouncing so much. It's very distracting when they zoom in on Jewel's face, and off to the side in the background you see this figure bobbing up and down. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 10:20:43 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Wow...we found out something before Jewelink did! How cool! I would guess tonight she'll play This Way. Ya know, maybe this was a planned thing? Has to make you wonder. Since Dave as well as Jewel just can't "wing it" when it comes to their scheduling...both being very busy people. I tend to think this was planned all along and they made it come across as a spur of the moment thing. But if it really was unplanned, then it kind of makes Jewel look bad I think...in that she has nothing better to do, or nothing else going on at the time where she can just come back to the same TV show the next night. I don't know of anyone else whose ever done this. Many people even have to leave like right after their interview...sometimes standing up before the commerial break even starts. Oh well. That's ridiculous! No one in that audience was thinking "oh of course she can come back because she doesn't have anything else to do"...she's promoting a cd, she's going to do as much as she can to do that and Dave (planned or not) asking her to come back again is a very good thing...the only other person I've seen him do that to was Stevie Nicks and she said she couldn't because she was tired lol. -eric "why do I like you? Subject: [EDA] more Letterman Surprisingly I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 reviews of the Letterman show. Nothing all the spectacular either. Makes one wonder. We had 2 bad reviews, one so-so, and one saying they wished she talked more. More focus has been on her appearance tonight, than the one last night! I remember the days where the list would get at least 20-30 posts with reviews about a previous nights performance. Has to make you wonder the impact she's having now. Also, the more I think about it, I do think the appearance tonight was planned out beforehand, or at least mentioned as a possibility. Mainly because Jewel seemed unaffected when Dave mentioned it to her. He just asked her nonchalantly, and she said "ok". Like, yeah sure, big deal, whatever. Most artists would first think he was joking, then I'm sure would show a bit more enthusiasm. I mean, she could have at least "acted" happier...afterall...she's done some acting before. Anyhow, I think Jewel knew about it before it was announced on the air. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #24 **************************
