I forget what the current accepted practice is for posting the entire subject article or previous posts, figured it would be boring so I omitted them. Also, I would like to share my delight in the fact that very few places on the internet will yeild a (correctly used) Ayn Rand quote, even fewer on the same page as a discussion of popular music. Kinda like, "Only at Woodstock would so many people know who Ophelia is," only with a higher degree of difficuly. Things like this make me love this list...well, this and Uri's discussion-capping discourse (a month -??- ago, maybe more) on thongs, lol. Mmmm, peace & prosperity for the coming year to all angels. Page 32. ~Angela Hey, Jewel By Jancee Dunn On the heels of the release of her new album, This Way, Jewel,27, accompained by her rodeo-star boyfriend, Ty Murray, sat down for a chat. - --After your 1998 album, Spirit, you basically retreated to Murray's ranch in Texas.-- I was so tired- after my record [1999's Joy: A Holiday Collection], I got pneumonia. I went into this business to talk about politics and social issues and love, and I started getting asked about nail polish. - --What was the past year's most surreal moment?-- The MTV Video Music Awards. I'd been out of the loop for so long, away from the big frickin' hair and makeup for three hours before the show, it was like being on Mars: "There's Shakira's publicist elbowing me out of a camera shot." - --Pop-culture quiz: Can you name a Survivor?-- You mean the TV show? No. [Laughs.] Or did you mean Beyonce? - --Who's Malcolm, and why is he in the middle?-- No idea. - --What do you spare no expense on?-- Murray: [Helpfully] Lingerie. Jewel: I love lingerie. But why do they charge so much for something that fits in a lipstick case? That s--t's expensive. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 12:46:43 -0500 From: "Kelli Coppens" Subject: [EDA] re: SS on radio Is standing still not playing on most radio stations anymore?? The answer was "In 1997 these were tearing Jewel apart" and the answer was obviously "Foolish Games" The guy who was playing bet everything he had (which was a lot) and got it right! I also need the 3rd Jewel Stock CD. I lost it and it is driving me nuts!!! So if anyone can copy it for me let me know-- I will compensate for cd, postage and your time. I just got my first guitar for Christmas and have been practicing the chords. I can play some silly songs (like Kumbaya etc.) but I would like to branch out to some Jewel stuff. I can play passing time because it is so simple-- what other songs are this simple? thanks! - -- chrissy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 13:49:36 -0500 (EST) From: space_bandits@webtv.net Subject: Re: [EDA] re: SS on radio >Is standing still not playing on most radio >stations anymore?? You will again find new exclusive Jewel photos every week. Currently, we are featuring images from recent band rehearsal sessions. Also, I am personally happy to announce the return of our "guest artists archive," which is an excellent place to learn about other great musicians that have captured our attention over the years. From Jewel's San Diego friends, like Steve Poltz, Joy Eden Harrison, Cindy Lee Berryhill and Lisa Sanders, to artists like Rickie Lee Jones, who have influenced Jewel, we've included a great variety of highly talented musicians you should be aware of. We've also featured a few of the many musical talents in Jewel's family, like her dad Atz Kilcher and her Aunt Mossy Kilcher, both of whom have had a significant influence on Jewel's early musical development. We have plenty of bios, sound files, links and a variety of helpful information about these artists that Jewel and the J-Team enjoy so much. You're sure to discover some great music and interesting people by visiting these pages. To make room for future guest artists, we will soon be eliminating some of our archived features. If you've yet to investigate this area of Jewel's site, please do so while all our previous artists are still there. To enjoy these features, as well as our current guest artist, Jillian Speer, please click "favorites" on the main jeweljk.com menu and then "archive" to access our many previous featured artists. This is one of my favorite areas of Jewel's website and we promise to turn you on to more great musicians in the future.
