["cymbaline" Subject: [EDA] the new a life uncommon vide problem ive had a few responses saying i should just take the video back to the store i got it from... i got it from jmerch, thats why im making them aware of it. though no matter where i got it im sure if it had something wrong with it i still would have gone to jmerch about it. they are the ones who have control over this stuff. they are the right people to talk to about jewel merchandise problems. they are there to help. so i use their help... and i try to help them in return as much as i can... like helping figure this video mess out, by making them aware of it. just trying to do my part as a jewel fan. id much rather try and help figure this out than just return it and forget about it. cus i know that its not a good thing when an item like this is just missing something. the right thing to do would be to point out the problem. so i did. alisa _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2002 03:09:59 +0000 From: "now and zen girl" Subject: [EDA] a few funny moments on the list today! a few things i find really really hilarious at the moment... the fact that the list is all britney related posts right now... just went through tons and tons of britney after britney posts... i found that very funny! and my 2 cents on britney.... SHE SUCKS! bottom line. no vocal talent... no talent as far as im concerned.... my opinion... SHE SUCKS! the other funny thing at the moment... how obssessed derrick is about NJC... very funny! hes seems almost more obssessed with NJC being indluded in the heading than he is with jewel. lets start a new list.... NJC fanatics! hahah its so funny. their slogan could be "if you dont got the NJC then get the hell away from me!" hahah i had to do it... sorry derrick. well nevermind, when was the last time you appologized to me hehehe. its all in good fun. alisa _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 20:12:17 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: RE: [EDA] NJC: This whole Britney Spears thing > Everyone is so quick to snap at her when it's not like some of us > could be up there doing it. Some of the vocals on the album are impossible to reproduce > live > without the use of a voice box or over-dubbed vocals because they are so > over-produced on the album (which, as you read on, is not her fault). > I totally agree...but you'll find that there are many close-minded and very quick to judge EDA's who fail to even ponder this thought. They simply live in their own world, and anything or anyone who doesn't see things the way they do, are wrong...at least in their eyes. So you're going to have those who will say she can't sing no matter what, and those who will say she can't perform, or dance, or do anything for that matter. Just like people like me will say Jewel can't sing as well as she once could, and Jewel's shows don't have the same level of entertainment value overall as a show of Britney's would. Only what I'm saying IS true. As opposed to those saying things about her with nothing to back it up. See, you backed up what you said...and that's great. I wish others would do this as well, or just not say anything at all. > Last of all, I hate the way people always judge Britney's personality. > I don't know how much most people on this list know about the music > industry, but from some of the comments, I'm supposing not a whole hell of > a > lot. > I'm beginning to think the same thing...even people who "claim" they know the business, I don't think *really* do, or they would know that what they are saying isn't justified. > Some people are not lucky enough to have the freedoms that Jewel had > when cutting an album. Half of > what > you see of Britney in magazines and television interviews is not her. > It's > the record companie's version of her. It's what they think is sexy and > hot > and appealing to the pop market. They don't care that Britney is a sweet > little southern girl. > I totally agree with this too. The record company is doing this somewhat with Jewel as well. Only in an opposite way. They are masking her true self by making her appear to be this angelic, sweet girl....at least on the outside. She may be that way some of the time, but not nearly as often as the media would like one to think. So while they're making Britney out to have this sexy sensual image, that's not really her at all. And while they're making Jewel out to be this nice all-around person, that's not really *her* at all. > They don't care that in real life, when she goes out with her friends, she > would be much more comfortable wearing a pair of sweat pants and a > long-sleeved t-shirt than some hoochi outfit. And yes she doesn't always get to make her own decisions about everything, but she is becoming more involved in many aspects of her career, such as in the songwriting and the music. Your point is very valid though. Jewel I think has more overall freedom in that respect. > Basically the point is, don't make accusations that you can't back up > or don't know anything about. Don't criticize her when it's really the > record company's fault. And for God's sake, don't pit her against Jewel. > Exactly. Although some might say Jewel has bashed Britney openly in public...on TV. Whether this is a fact or not really doesn't matter. I've never heard Britney say one thing bad about Jewel before. > She has never compared herself to Jewel, nor has she ever said a > derogatory > word about her. > I'm reading your mind I guess. :-) (I hadn't read the above line yet when I typed my comments about this) > I don't see why she's such a big issue on *this* list. Just get over it. > If you don't like her, that's fine. If you do, more power to you. Either > way though, last time I checked this was a Jewel list. This is the last > I'll comment on Brit. Anyone with response, is more than welcome to email > me privately. > I agree with this too...which is why I only sent one post originally about the AMA's and noted a couple things about her performance that I thought stood out. I did however include some info about Jewel as well, since this IS a Jewel list. :-) But yes, the ongoing banter about it really should end. But knowing how the list is, it didn't surprise me that some people replied publicy to my initial post. It's happened before, and I'm sure will again. :-) Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 23:01:48 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] AMA's tonight actually it's 29 years, and I'm postive he meant "last 29 years" but said "next" by mistake. they showed clips from 29 years ago to last year..... i don't think that in the next 29 years we'll be having any of those people from 1971. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 3:28 PM Subject: Re: [EDA] AMA's tonight > they showed a quick glimpse of Jewel when they showed what the next 31 > years of the ama's will be like. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 23:21:47 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: NJC: Re: [EDA] a few funny moments on the list today! I agree with you on Britney.... she can't sing, and her voice is all computerized to cover up the fact. I almost died of laughter when she went flat last night... did anyone else notice that? toward the end of the song, she sort of went off-key > the other funny thing at the moment... how obssessed derrick is about >NJC... very funny! hes seems almost more obssessed with NJC being >indluded in the heading than he is with jewel. I think its good that he's not obsessed with Jewel. I'd be rather concerned if he was. Anyone for that matter. Its taking fandom way too far to be obsessed. speaking of NJC, where's yours? Mine's there. And Sheila, where was yours? a trip to the ghettos of NYC is not Jewel related, Your subject line didn't have anything to do with the message content either. And just for the record, you don't need to go to any ghettos to see poor people living on the streets. They're on just about every single street corner in a big city. And they're nothing to gawk at, either. Yeah, let's take a trip to look at all the homeless people on the streets. Family Fun! > lets start a new list.... I'm sure Derrick's feelings are hurt now. Do you realize you just baited him and your reeling him in? :) I have an idea for a list... how about the "adventures of sheila and ciara age 7" list? And then those who want to, can get e-mails about the techniques of doing donuts, driving in blizzards, driving in the ghettos with windows down, and so much more! yes we would definitely learn so much!! cymbie. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2002 00:34:39 EST From: Cember76@aol.com Subject: [EDA] njc: trojan horse/mammoth well i was away in mammoth for 3 days and when i came home today i couldn't check my e-mails i at first thought my mother in law had changed all the passwords but she hadn't. i came to find out that someone had put a trojan horse under my screen name and sent some stupid porn thing to over 400 people so aol shut down our entire account. I was hoping that someone here could help me find out how to get rid of it. the only thing that i recently downloaded was this program called marketscore. it is suppose to help you surf the net faster. does anyone think that could be where i got it from? and how do i get rid of it? with out having to buy any thing. don't have any cash right now because i just came back from a trip. that was very beautiful i might add. we stayed at this place called toms place. You can look it up at www.tomsplaceresort.com it was really quiet and nice. and there was a flowing stream about 30 feet from our cabin. they didn't have any phones so we were all alone and we had some private time. i loved it. my boyfriend wasn't to happy though he came down with a bad case of altitude sickness. i was warned that he gets it above 8000 feet. but we were at 7000 feet so i thought it would be ok. well boy was i wrong... glad i don't get it. he snowboarded a bit but we had to go back to the cabin. we also got stuck in the snow. had to get some help to get pulled out. it was an adventure. I did a little hiking alone in the snow when i had the chance. it was beautiful. i found this spot where an old tree had fallen right over the stream and i climbed up on it almost slipped in a few times but i held my bark... sat down on the tree and listened to it crash down the mountain got a very cold numb bottom and decided to head back to the warm cabin. too bad we won't be going back again. boyfriend said we had better just stick to big bear. he doesn't get altitude sickness there. so if i ever go again it will be just me and my daughter. oh well. anyway if anyone knows anything about these trojan horse things please let me know. the December angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #14 **************************
