And guess what? THAT video is on that DVD. The one MTV showed. They may have showed a making the video show last week or whenever, but the video was already made way before then. I think it was shot around the time SS was. And I know for a fact that the scenes in it had absolutely nothing to do with Jewel's video since Britney's video includes scenes from her movie that were shot a long time before Jewel's video ever came out. I'm not trying to take up for Britney, OR Jewel, I'm just telling it like it is. > >britneys video is so similar to ss that its sick. her hair, her clothes, >my god even her belt!! her belt is just like the one that jewel has been >wearing, with the belt buckle. although everything britney does in her >video is like a trashy version of what jewel did. its kinda funny if you >think about it. and the shots of her driving in the car were not from the >movie, it was based on the idea of the movie, and the car was the same one >from the movie... but the way they did it was what was so annoying. they >shot her at the exact same angles as jewel was shot in her car scenes! - ---------------- I don't know who you are, but you really need to stop bashing other people since you really don't know what you're talking about. And speaking of people dressing like other people...I saw Jewel on the HBO special the other night, and the shirt she had on looked almost just like the one Britney wore at last years Superbowl halftime show. And, from what I've heard, Britney is a really nice person. You seem to judge people without even knowing them, and I think that's a very shallow approach to take in assessing one's behavior. > >oh icky britney!!!! icky icky icky!!! eeeww and her shoes are like >jewels too! and so much more... its awful. - ---------- You are really being immature I hope you know. How old are you anyway? > >sucks that those teeny boppers havent figured out what originality is or >creativity is yet! - ------------------------ No, it sucks that you fail to see their originality and creativity. If you weren't so closeminded about everything that's not Jewel-related, maybe you would be able to see the creativity in others. You aren't hurting anyone but yourself. Oh well. ~Stacey~ _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2001 00:25:41 -0800 (PST) From: Tracy Hale Subject: Re: [EDA] ss video vs britney video Why is everyone getting so upset over this? I just think that the fact is that the 2 videos only look alike and thats it. Britney didn't copy Jewel and Jewel didn't copy Britney. I think that it was just coincidental that they look alike, nothing more and nothing less. I thought that someone had said that already, but I guess that some of you need to hear it again. Is this only a dream?? How are ya fellow ?EDAs?... I was gonna wish a very happy holiday to all the list but after all this nonsense I decided to say something about it... I can't believe the amount of heat that has grown since Sheila posted a private e-mail... and I can't believe how many of you could be so careless about the content of the damn message... I don't care if it was a private message... how many of you have a private message telling you on big words that your beloved daughter is gonna become a slut coz this persons thinks that you as a mother have been one... tell me the fucking truth... how many of those messages you all EDAs recieve daily... mean and insulting messages saying that your daugther is a slut... c'mon you selfish ones... I think she was right at posting it to the whole list coz she thought as I have always believed that she was gonna get some backup and support from all the members of the list... a great deal of selfish posts were like "follow the rules you moron" or "don't bother me with your private shit or my karma is gonna get screwed" or "I can care less coz I don't know you personally"... just a couple of you really supported her... those people really make me believe that this list still worth something... It doesn't matter if it was private... how can you deal with such a thing when someone else is screwing with a member of your own family not only you but with your own blood... your own flesh... and you think you have a socalled family of "unknown" people... kind people who would help you out no matter what... I have had the chance to met those kind of people on this list and I'm very grateful with them... will always be... real EDAs.. really true to what Every Days Angels mean... those who support Jewel not only on her work but with her legacy of take care of each other... only kindness matters... what would happen if something bad would ever happen to our beloved artist... what would happen in that case with this EDA list... It would disappear... No... I don't think so... coz at the end the only ones standing around are gonna be the people who were not only worried about Jewel's career moves but all those EDAs who believed on something else... believed on the person beyond the artist... the human being beyond the comercial deity... those who still believe in people... those real human beings with a long lasting message of love and understanding... and then only then Jewel will live forever on our hearts.... I know that is an innocent wish these days... these days of war and bloody bullets... plane crashes and lonely sons... thrashed ideals and dead hopes... some of you must be smiling or laughing at my words... but I hope someone else relate to it as well... You don't need to know anyone here to be a little nice and kind... don't need any picture to realize there's a being at the other side... it's what your own human nature and social education tell you to do... I don't know any of you personally around the list... you're only e-mails with a scratch of your own personality on them.... always complaining about the old list... how everyone was there just to help you out... why don't stop bothering mention the old list... and just do a better work improving our ways to behave with each other... I was driven here coz I thought you were supportive of EDAs in trouble and in need for a shoulder to cry... but as long as I can see it's just me me me me all around.... if you show your careless souls like that to a little human being like Ciara who could be your next door neightboor how would it be like to a southamerican guy so far away from you... I don't want to imagine.... Sheila if you need to send support messages to someone else next time.. check those who send you some relief back... we'll try to be a real EDA list for you... Have a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year... bye... Pablo An EDA from Ecuador. lucky to maintaing a little tiny piece of innocence on me... I still believe in people. p.s.: "maintaining our innocence"... an old and wasted message... hope Jewel doesn't find her words are lost on oblivion... and it's just a comercial motto over a logo... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2001 10:11:29 -0600 From: "jamie mathews" Subject: Re: [EDA] On teeth and the malleability of the self <> Oh my god, inhuman? This is the most ridiculous piece of shit I've ever heard. I have crooked teeth...always have...and probably always will even if I did get the kind of money to fix it. My crooked teeth, however, are not cute like Jewel's, they're just plain crooked. I was picked on about 50% of my childhood because of my teeth...I was called Snaggletooth for a year in 8th grade. Granted, my friends beat the crap out of everyone who said it, but it doesn't make it hurt any less when you're 13 and still looking for acceptance. Even now it still happens. People don't call me Snaggletooth, but whenever people have teeth conversations (which is surprisingly more than you would think), I cringe. It's ridiculous. To say you won't be a fan because she fixes her teeth?? Ridiculous. I hope she fixes her teeth...if she wants to, let her do it. Salman Rushdie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2001 12:20:12 EST From: Fabsurfgrl@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] ss video vs britney video Oh, please. If we sat and analyzed every song, video and outfit that other artists wear, especially other female artists, we'd surely find numerous similarities between them. This does NOT mean that they are copying each other directly. More times than any, they are either following a trend that is already in existence within the culture as a whole - whether that be a fashion trend like wearing big belt buckles (which you see everywhere now) or wearing your hair in a certain way. As for the camera angles and shots, that again is more a product of what is "trendy" or "new" or has been proven more effective in cinematography as of late. The reason you see so many female artists doing things "like Jewel does" is due to pure circumstance and an obvious belief by the creative artists that it works. It's the same reason you saw a majority of the girls wearing capri pants this summer. Trends. So, again, I assure you that Britney Spears and Christina Aguillera or whomeever will shoot a video in a car and make you think that they "stole" a camera angle, are certainly not doing so. As for the originality arguement, you could certainly argue that nobody is REALLY original these days. You could also argue that these "teeny boppers" (who by the way, far surpass the recognition level and monetary status than any other kinds of artists) are more original than artists like Jewel, as they have started a "new" kind of standard/formula in the industry. "Boy bands" and the like are relatively "new" in the scheme of things (the Beatles and such don't really apply to this definition), but folk artists and their music have been around for many, many years. So, think about the flip side to your observation, as you could very well come upon it. That's all for now.
