Subject: RE: [EDA] jewel magazine reviews I haven't really been noticing this same trend. From what I've read, many of the songs they like, or think are the better ones, are the same ones we've said we like...such as Serve the Ego, adn DYWTP. Also, some reviewers aren't aware that Jewel had been playing songs like LMJLMA for awhile now...you can't expect them to know everything so stop making fun of them (that's kind of how your post came across). They're just doing their job the best they can. Derrick PS...also, you must remember...the "us" you are referring to consists of a mere 1000-1500 at best. The reviewers aren't writing the reviews for the EDA's only ya know. They're also considering the other 15 million+ fans in the world. So I think what they are saying does hold true for the majority of Jewel FANS. Even if every last EDA totally disagreed with them, they'd still be with the majority by far. > ---------- > From: now and zen girl[SMTP:lemming523@hotmail.com] > Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 4:34 AM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] jewel magazine reviews > > after reading all these reviews lately (and a huge thanks to all who have > put them up!!) i have been noticing again how funny it is when reviewers > act like they are one of her fans, or that they know what her fans really > want from her. they are always saying now this song is more like what > jewels fans are used to... funny part is is that its usually the songs > that we dont do that with, the never seem to interpret her fans the right > way. a lot of the songs that we know are so jewel, they think are the > songs that her fans, us, arent going to relate to or think of as being > jewel! hahaha its really funny. > > another funny thing is how the songs that they use for examples of her > improvement are really old songs hahahaha... like LMJLMA....silly > reviewers! > > alisa > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 10:24:25 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." As a matter of fact, now I DO recall now that she did record Absence Of Fear at the Fritz Creek Store sessions, as that was one of the titles she was considering for the album at the time (she mentioned possible album titles the first night of JewelStock during the electric set, and "The Absence Of Fear" was one of them...along with my fave, "Goldfish Don't Bounce"...at the time, "Fritz Creek Store" was not one of the possible titles.). BTW, she debuted Absence Of Fear on MTV's 120 Minutes one night in April or May of 1996...it's all coming back to me now. exercising the brain cells, Mike ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 14:56:16 -0500 (EST) From: space_bandits@webtv.net Subject: [EDA] (NJC) Staff Descriptions Outgoing Personality..........Always going out of the office Good Communication Skills.......Spends lots of time on phone Average Employee..............................Not too bright Exceptionally Well Qualified......Made no major blunders yet Work is First Priority................Too ugly to get a date Active Socially.................................Drinks a lot Family is Active Socially.................Spouse drinks, too Independent Worker.............Nobody knows what he/she does Quick Thinking......................Offers plausible excuses Careful Thinker........................Won't make a decision Aggressive..........................................Obnoxious Uses Logic on Difficult Jobs......Gets someone else to do it Expresses Themselves Well.....................Speaks English Meticulous Attention to Detail..................A nit picker Has Leadership Qualities.........Is tall or has a loud voice Exceptionally Good Judgment...........................Lucky Keen Sense of Humor...............Knows a lot of dirty jokes Career Minded...................................Back Stabber Loyal..........................Can't get a job anywhere else ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 15:03:44 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Pics from NY Jingle ball Rollingstone.com has some nice pictures of Jewel from the NY Jingle ball... Subject: [EDA] Maxim Blender I think there was some mention of an article in this magazine (about a week ago), but there are also quite a number of pics in there as well (many new ones also), that I don't remember hearing any mention of. Jewel isn't on the cover, but she has about 4 pages inside, with at least 4-5 pics...one full page too. It's quite an extensive article. The previous post made it seem like it was just a blurb about her (at least that's the way I interpreted it). So anyone interested, it's the Jan. 2002 issue of Maxim Blender. I saw one at a local corner store/gas station so my guess is they are everywhere, and shouldn't be very difficult to find. She didn't make it to my very optimistic 160 000 record prediction.. but she did sell a solid 135 944 albums, jumping to #23 (last week was #28). This was a 28% increase over last week's sales... which is really good! So far, This Way has sold approximately 600 000 copies in the US. Obviously that means it's GOLD (although I'm sure it was gold from the first week), and it's most probably PLATINUM too (as I'm sure there have been more than a million copies shipped to stores)... but we'll find that out soon. later Steve ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 17:15:14 EST From: Buster2530@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Teeth fixed?
