In October, the pop singer Jewel was promoted as artist of the month on AOL's Internet site and her most recent album, "This Way," sold 145,000 units the first week, 50 percent more than the company had expected." - ------- wow... they really didnt' have high expectations for Jewel huh? Well I'm glad she showed em! Geez-- have a little faith in Jewel for crying out loud! I guess they really didn't think that she had much of a fan base anymore. She said that at either the provoice concert or Nashville, that the record company figured that everyone forgot who she was. The donut spins are fun but can be tragic...and this is not a fun game that i should be teaching my little ones. You all really made me stop and think. Next, i have to say that all the emails we receive here at home when Ciara sends her post, are so touching. Your kind comments make Ciara smile so big!!! Your comments make me feel that Ciara, even at her very young age, is accepted here...when i first started posting here, my greatest fear was that some may feel that she is too young to listen to Jewel songs. Thank you for accepting and understanding her love for Jewel. You can bet that she will see Jewel sing somewhere during this tour. If i have to make the trip to California for a concert....i will. I am gonna make her dream come true! Now i want to tell you all a little story....my mother says i was about 7 years old.....as a young child i always loved carnival rides....mostly a ride called the "octopus." I remember 2 summers of this carnival coming to town (i lived in the city) and everyday my neighborhood friend and i would go to the carnival. It got to a point where they would leave us on the octopus several turns in a row. I could never get enough! It was my passion! I remember being very sad on that last day when the carnival was going to leave. Even though i had spent the entire day there, mostly on the octopus......i did not want them to leave....my mother put us kids to bed and it was the most sad day of my life. I was not spoiled but my entire heart was broke. I truly thought my fun world had come to an end. I cried in my bed so hard and i could not stop. My mother, came in and told me to get up that we were going up to the carnival. I remember walking several blocks in the dark to get there. When we got there my favorite ride was laying on the ground in pieces....but that was okay, i was happy enough to just be able to see it. I remember my mom talking to the attendants about my love of this ride. This is something that i have thought about throughout all these years. To this day, my love for carnival rides is the same. However, now i can only seem to ride rollercoasters without getting sick. (an age thing i suppose). We go to Cedar Point, in Ohio, every year. I ride the rollercoasters all day long. When i pass by an octopus ride i always remember that day as a young child. This is how i think of Ciara and her love for Jewel and her wanting to see Jewel. You know that this child is gonna see Jewel somewhere....if i have to fly????across the world...its gonna happen. I am going to allow her dream to come true. I hope i haven't bored you all too much, but thanks for listening. Love ya's, Sheila. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 11:23:59 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Pics from Jingleball There are some nice photos of Jewel performing at Z100's Jingle Ball last night at www.wireimage.com - just search for Jewel. Subject: [EDA] NJC: 2 great songs! The Aussie EDA's may already be familiar with this, but there are 2 really cool songs on Natalie Imbruglia's first CD, the version that was only released in Austrailia that included 5 extra tracks. The 2 songs are called Tomorrow Morning and Frightened Child. I think they're also b-sides on a couple different singles from that CD. They're acoustic tracks so it'll probably sound different from other things you may have heard from her before. Forget about anything you've heard on the radio or MTV. :-) Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 12:22:55 EST From: BarrelRacin2@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Angelfood... I only have the one pass so you'll have to be able to fly solo if you want it. Unfortunately you have to be at least 21 as well. I'll be here checking email until around 4PM. Include your phone # in the reply so I can call you and make arrangements to give it to you at the venue. If you don't get a call, it's been taken. Also, a bunch more TV has been added to Jewel's site calendar. This is in addition to what was in yesterday's JeweLink. Check it out. Hope to crash into a few of you at the show tonight.
