Oh my god! I can't believe that Jewel doesn't think that Scott Stapp is hot. I think that girl just might need some glasses. =) lol OK, aside from that - I just found out that I need to be in Miami for the next three or four weeks for work. I was there last week and I heard them advertising the Jingle Ball concert on the Radio. Has anyone been to one of those before? Are they worth going to? What is the set list like? Jingle Ball kind of suggests Christmas Music - so maybe if I was really lucky I could get to hear Hands live? The way it sounded on the radio was like 20 artists each doing one hit song. That didn't sound to appealing to me. I'm way to old for a teen concert, and Standing Still isn't the kind of music I really like. I haven't heard any of Jewel's other new stuff yet. What do you all think? Just by chance, are there any angels down there hitting the south beach club scene who might want to hang out a little? A friend of mine is one of the owners of new club down there called six degrees that's really really cool. - VAB ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 17:52:52 +1100 From: "LAuReN ." I have a few Jewel promo flats, some Angelfood - - couple on CD, couple on cassette, and one VCD, and some other stuff that I might trade. Would really appreciate it, but if not, I guess I'll just start searching track by track Lew www.coilback.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 03:46:40 -0600 From: "Eric Levenchuck" Subject: [EDA] JewelStock Offer I was hoping to get some input on this before I went ahead and did it, but it looks like I'm on my own. Here's the situation- a while back, a generous EDA sent me a set of early generation JewelStock tapes for free. So I've decided to return the favor, in a way, and make my own offer. I recently transferred the set to CD and spent MANY hours editing and cleaning up the sound, and the results are pretty remarkable (IMO). Since I started out with an extremely early generation copy of the show, I can almost guarantee this is the best sounding copy that will ever be available to the EDAs. However, in order to fit the show on three CDs, I omitted the bonus tracks. But, rest assured, all the songs from the actual show are included. I'm feeling very generous and would like to offer these to as many EDAs as possible. So, this is how I've decided to handle it: I will start by making three sets which will be sent to among those who respond to this message privately with their mailing address. This is to make the process go as fast as possible. I will pay all expenses (packaging, media, shipping), so there will be no money involved. I am looking to hear from a variety of EDAs here; from those who already own the tapes to those who don't yet own the show. Make sure you let me know your situation when responding. I will only ask for one thing in return. After receiving the CDs, I would like those who were picked to listen to them and then send a review (either to me or to the list) of their quality. This is how I will conclude whether or not my efforts in re-recording and "re-mastering" the originals were worth it. If everyone is generally happy with the results, I may then distribute the CDs more widely. One last note: make sure your CD player plays CD-Rs before responding to this message. I would hate to send out these sets just to find out they're useless to the recipients. Eric L. I thought you were some what of a Jewel aficionado? jk! Haha! get it again? jk= just kidding & Jewel Kilcher. Okay enough of that. Jewel redid the song "You Make Loving Fun" (better than the original in my opinion & please no hate mail, thats just an opinion ) by the one and only Fleetwood Mac on the tribute album called "Legacy: a tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours" I belive it's track #8 . In my opinion it's a pretty good tribute(worth buying) all together to a really awesome band that can't really be matched. The Coors did a pretty good job with "Dreams", kinda irie/techno style and I forget who did "Daddy" but I really liked that one too. All and all it's quite good for a cover album. - -Billy - ---------- >From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." >To: 'billy streeter ' >Subject: RE: [EDA] Re: Jewel in Food Place >Date: Thu, Dec 13, 2001, 11:01 PM > > Two months go bye then we recieved a cd with > Jewels' > cover of You Make Loving Fun. Angel Eyes O:) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 00:02:37 EST From: ChrissyPf1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Review of 'This Way' from Blender ** (two stars) Given Jewel's penchant for writing acerbically erudite lyrics, it seems miraculous that her first two albums have sold a combined 23 million copies. It's probably because her tunes are as middle-of-the-road as they come. Nor has Jewel felt any need to tinker with the formula. She may tackle the theological ramifications of abortion on "Standing Still" or name check Randy Newman on "Do You Want To Play," but she does so in a musical framework that could have been found under the cushions of Stevie Nicks's sofa. Apart from the quite beautiful (if horriblt titled) "Serve the Ego" or the raggedly rootsy "New Wild West," this is very much another case of: nice lyrics, but a shame about the tunes. There is also an audio tape. The video (1 hour) has: Ray Martin show; Rove Live; Today; Good Morning Australia; Fox 8 with Molly Meldrum; Big Smooze with Matt Hardy (and an interesting comment about Jewel spending the night with Oprah); Today Live (NZ); 3 News (NZ). The performances are all "Standing Still" except for the 3 News, which has "Break Me" (cut short by the sports news!). The audio tape (about an hour) has: Ernie Sigley 3AW ("You Are My Sunshine", a very interesting but short version); Mix 101.1 ("Break Me"); Saturday Morning Rove ("Break Me"). Thanks to Renie, Jess, Melanie and Vivian in Australia and to Petrina in New Zealand!! If anyone would like a copy of either or both (PAL only for the video), just contact me.
