It's a bit of list history, and will hopefully give the newer members a feel for how the list once was...and how it evolved from 1996-1999...still even 2 years before some of you got here. It's very accurate, right down to the 2 negative Sean references...yes, the same Sean whose still on the list today. He foreshadowed what was to come...as did I...many times. It was the inevitable, and it happened. The last line sums it all up very appropriately...."jewel go your own way. but i am disappointed and that is fair too." I think that statment speaks for many then-list members. A few still remain today...me being one. Maybe someone should write a version of this post from 1999-present. I think you'd see more of the same pattern. Thanks for bringing this one back Rowdy. If nothing else, at least it was a nice walk down memory lane. This isn't anything to joke about or post to a list that goes to over 1000 people. Promoting driving in bad weather isn't a good thing to do. There's a reason weathermen tell people to *stay off the roads* under those conditions. >My husband usually only goes because he fears for our >safety...he thinks i am nuts. Friends don't let friends endanger their (and others) lives. The people warning against that are not beating up on Sheila, just showing respect, compassion and caring. Sheila, I too hope you were kidding. But on a list with some highly impressionable young people especially (see prior), such still isn't a good idea. Lets all be safe and sensible. Let's see if I got this one straight: Sheila wrote "I'm endangering my own life, my husband's life, my kids' life and I'm proud and thrilled with it." Derrick wrote "You're endangering your own life, your husband's life, your kids' life and you're proud and thrilled with it". You called that "beating up on someone for something they do on their own time". Would you have reacted the same if Cymbaline had written that instead of Derrick, or was it just a knee-jerk reaction to a sensible post from Derrick? I'm beginning to get fed up with you guys beating up on Derrick whenever he says something that is controversial without pausing to think whether it might be true. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 02:15:05 -0800 From: "Jewel Fan" Subject: [EDA] New Ground and Rick Dees I was just wondering, what the dates were, that the New ground and Rick Dees interviews were going on. I don't take the kids out like this if there is a snow emergency or even if the weather is very cold. Actually, what i do is very safe....alittle silly perhaps but so much fun...safe fun. A deserted country road, (my own neighborhood) going at about 10 mph on a snowy road, in my warm car, is not danger. It's an illusion of snow falling very fast when you have your brights on. Doing the donunts in a huge empty parking lot also is not putting our lives in jeopardy. My dad did this with me and my siblings many times...we always had so much fun. Everyday i drive out my driveway about 8:15 am to take the kids to school....and this is much more dangerous with all the people in their hurry to get to wherever. Please stop worrying about this and try to think about the fun of it. If it was done in an unsafe way or if there was really any danger in it at all....i would not do it!! Thanks for your concerns. Sheila....let it snow..let it snow..let it snow.....and have yourself alittle fun!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 09:40:52 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel - Intimate and Interactive > Well, I guess one of these songs is gonna be the next single.
