Signed up on the Internet and they called me up at home and asked me a bunch of trivia questions about Jewel. Easy stuff like what's her new CD and single called, what are her books called, etc etc... So I got a wristband for me and a guest! Apparently they're not shooting it in the main studios like they do with the MuchMusic I&I (because it's MuchMore so they shoot it in a different area).. so all those that wanna go and see her outside probably won't get a chance.. because there won't be any window access. Oh.. she also said they'll be screening questions for Jewel at the beginning of the thing so if I have a good question and they decide to use it they'll give me a really good seat! So if people have suggestions for awesome questions, or even stuff you wanna get answered, email me... I'll pick the best one and submit it. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2001 16:50:22 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Album Sales Hey Guys Jewel had a pretty good week this week for album sales. On this week's HITS chart she dropped 1 spot to #20, selling 104 305 records. That's a very slim 10% decrease from last week. This was very good, because most records sufferred steep declines this week (ie Creed, Britney, Garth, Kid Rock all sufferred close to 50% losses). So far her cumulative total is approximately 360 000. The Billboard position could be different (higher or lower). We'll see. The general pattern is the week of Thanksgiving sales rise, the week after they drop significantly.. and then after that they rise again leading up the week of Christmas which is usually the best selling week for CD's all year. So far Jewel has completely defied that by dropping 20% the week of Thanksgiving, and only 10% this week.. but hopefully the fact that she had such a small decline this week will mean that her sales will rise significantly in the next few weeks. All in all things seem to be moving along pretty well! Horrible lies that are to deceive and hurt and other to heal and comfort. Now, I really hate lying but I'm not an absolutist. Some are white lies and some just are insignificant variations to stories told that give the speakers a poetic license so to speak. A few years ago when my very young sister came screaming down the hall terrified to go to sleep "The monsters are gonna get me in my sleep," she cried in terror. "It's okay, sweetheart. They're not going to get you," I said. She thought I didn't understand. "Wait a minute," I said, and I ran to get my Native American Indian Dream Catcher. "Here, we'll put this up over your bed. It will catch all your bad dreams and only let the good ones through." "Will it catch the monsters too?" she said. I assured her she was in no danger of the monsters. She announced triumphantly: "Sister's getting rid of the monsters. I'm not going to die." When she gets older, I will tell her the truth and I know she will still trust me. ______________ In reply to: Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2001 22:05:48 -0500 From: "David & Beth" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel lying We've seen Jewel tell the same story about two different songs on different occasions, or change facts here and there. Anyone who's been on the list for any length of time has seen plenty of threads in that regard. Does she lie? We should give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she has a lot going on so maybe her memory gets a little cloudy. ===== Your favorite Geni, Jeannie Djinn Visit My Yahoo Profile: http://profiles.yahoo.com/jeanniedjinn Buy the perfect holiday gifts at Yahoo! Howdy y'all, Derrick, please do not give Mike too hard a time, he busts his ass for us. You know, not long ago I sent a post to the list, and do you know how long it took to get here on the list? It took about three or four days...even though there was nothing in it that would cause it to be delayed (taboo stuff). I don't know what happened there, but it's not a biggy. Remember, we don't have to become critical when it comes to subjects and people on the list...this list should be more lighthearted. This is foremost for Derrick, but also for everyone else. Also, Sean seems to be a little bit harsh when he retorts...this is really not necessary, to use insults and such. People, do not resort to insulting one another, it gets us nowhere. Also, where do people come up with these ideas that Jewel is married or lying or whatever? LOL, it's crazy. And about the lying...I think some on this list could learn from Louise, the way she retracted what she said. I saw much more character in her retractment than in a good many other posts. Today's question was submitted by JeweLink member Amy Mester. Amy asks: Where did you and Ty write Till We Run Out of Road? Did some quirky conversation or event inspire it? Jewel answers: We wrote this song in a little cedar cabin that had no electricity or plumbing. Needless to say, we were looking for ways to pass the hours on this New Year's Eve and I thought it would be fun to show Ty what it was like to write a song. We wrote it from his perspective about being on the road rodeoing for most of his life with his partner, Cody Lambert.
