If this list was just soley based on Jewel, and all posts were about Jewel, this would be a pretty boring list. Most of us don't center our lives around Jewel, thats why we talk about other artists, so we can spread the word about new up and coming artists, indie artists, and the like. Also, alot of us do lead pretty normal lives, and whats the harm in posting something thats going on with our lives? sometimes we need support and friendship. And most of the time people DO put NJC on their unjewel related messages. You only contributed to the non-jewel posts by posting what you did, AND you didn't put NJC. 314 messgaes in days is hardly anything... a few years ago, there were 250 posts a day or something (right, Mike?) why does people posting messages make them stupid? I know alot of people hate me, but I think most everyone on this list is fine and dandy... I wouldn't call anyone stupid, except Mike Connell... he's weird. He plays w/ a rubber ducky :) by the way... can someone forward be those messages about someone's dog dying? and who failed a test?? i must have missed those messages :) cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2001 14:43:38 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Re: shakira Sorry if i offended you. Subject: [EDA] NJC: Send all flames to Sean please :-) Sean, have you ever heard of something called a sense of humor? It's not something you can buy, but I suggest you devote some time in trying to obtain this. I'm sorry if you are a close-minded highly judgemental self-centered person, but there's really nothing I can do to help. Oh yeah, by saying that anyone who likes Break Me and Serve the Ego has a horrible taste in music...well, you just put down the majority of the list, since I think it's safe to say most if not all other EDA's like these songs by Jewel. So I guess for everyone else on the list...Sean has just now set himself up to receive about 500+ flame letters. So my only suggestion about this to the other EDA's are....GO for it! :-) Flame away! He's easy bait, and besides it might be fun to flood his 'in' box...hehe. Oh one more thing...I don't know what kind of taste YOU have in women Sean, but based on what you said about me (even though none of it was true) I'd say you have some real hang ups when it comes to women, race, and ethnicity. I would also assume you don't have many friends because of this. Again, I'm sorry about that as well, but there's really nothing I can do to help you, so please stop trying to reach out for help...you won't find it here. There are some very good psychologists that I'm sure would offer assistance to you though. I just hope you don't think they have a horrible taste in psychology...for then you might just be back to where you started. ;-) PS... You also wrote.... "You have some serious issues with (1.) your tastes in music and (2.) your views on women in general. Put those 3 things together, what do you think?" *I* think you must have flunked math...since 1+1 = 2. LOL ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2001 15:38:44 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Shakira - just to clarify Hey Sorry if I offended anybody with my comments about Shakira. It is my opinion that her current music (the english language album) is very bad... although I know that her Spanish language music is supposedly a lot better. I hope the English language record doesn't do that well so it encourages her to return to music of higher quality. This is just my opinion. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. I hope we can just let go of this now. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 14:53:57 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: [EDA] jewel's hair >I really like her hair lately. It's that "messy, just fell out of bed, >natural look", that takes 4 hours to recreate. I think she looks good. - ------------------------------- So you prefer a woman to spend 4 hours on a hair style that only makes her look as if she didn't fix it at all? I find this rather amusing. I'm all about the natural look, but not when it takes longer to achieve that then it would to look "made up". >And I liked the outfit a lot. Last year she was doing her hair like a >cross between a 1940's actress and a porn star... not all that >lattering (ie - the tonight show from last year). - ------------ Not sure what you're referring to, but if you go back and watch her politically incorrect appearance from last year, I'd like you to tell me what porn star or 40's actress that hair style resembles. To me it looked like a simple, very natural, yet well-kept style. Much like her hair was in the early days...only it was shorter then. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 15:02:22 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." And I do agree that her voice didn't sound that good. And I also agree that Serve the Ego is the best song on the CD as well. But don't tell Sean this, for he'll say you have horrible taste in music (or maybe he's already written you privately about this) I just think that's hiliarious. It's such a ridiculous thing to say, I mean...I can't help but to laugh every time I think of it. LOL >So my mom said she read in our New Orleans newspaper that Jewel got >married. But she wasn't sure what it said exactly. - ------------ Haven't heard anything official yet...I'm sure it will be announced is she has. Could just be a rumor though since she does have a nice looking ring. Has Ty even asked her to marry him? I don't even remember hearing about that, much less an actual marriage. It doesn't seem like a really good time for her to tie the knot anyway...not this soon. But if it's true I guess we'll all hear about it. >Anyone no if they are still friends? - ---------------- Don't know, but haven't heard otherwise...maybe he's just too busy now. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 15:12:42 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." I was just going to suggest that someone who has a big jewel website (like Scott, for example) might want to have EDA's write in and give their favorite Jewel quote. Then Scott (or whoever) can post allll the Jewel quotes he gets on one page. I have seen a lot of people asking for help with Jewel quotes-whether it is for their yearbook or personal reasons. It would be handy. And some people (like me) like to switch Jewel quotes every week on my profile. I'd like to go to a website and pick from some. Just a thought... Subject: [EDA] Shakira, artistry, close minded Anotnio I agree with your post. You made alot of very valid points in your posts and I think they are justified. Shakira also debuted 6 places higher than Jewel did on the billboard charts...this coming from an artist's FIRST English release...vs. one who had already sold millions in the US alone. In layman's terms, I think that's called a serious A$$-whoopin'! :-) But artistry aside, I really think there are alot of closeminded people on this list (not that I wasn't already aware of that) as well as people with alot of preducices. Of course society is plagued with many people like this as well, so it's quite possible this list is just a mere small cross section of society in general. But being a Jewel list, I'd think and hope that wasn't the case....since Jewel isn't about that. Unfortunately though, I guess it's reality. So maybe this will turn into an open-minded vs. close-minded flame war, but at his point I really don't care. I just feel very sorry for all those people out there who live in such a sheltered environment as to not even be aware of so many things around them. Maybe one day you'll wake up...but I don't see it happening in the near future at least.
