I saw the kilborn show. All she did was perform STANDING STILL. There was no interview or anything. And she didn't perform Solo. She was with her band. But for some reason, I thought her composor (spelling?... sorry I'm a horrible speller) was a little odd... like something was wrong. Maybe its just me. But over all the performance was really good. I don't know what anyone else thought about it b/c I haven't been reading posts in a long while. But I liked her performance. Hey... DId anyone catch Jewel at the tree lighting ceremony? I saw part of her performance. I don't remember what song she sang. (*my memory is shot) But it was good. My aunt called and told me she was on. Did she sing any other songs after that? I've been missing jewel on tv a lot lately :'( oh well. guess I'll go. Have a good day everyone diana the lonely writing angel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2001 18:27:46 EST From: TiamoD@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Clearwater, reflection of Jewel's character Hello Angels, As I read your posts that question, doubt, and sometimes attack Jewel's character, I want to remind you of this. What artists do you know start something as positive, giving and altruistic as the Clearwater Project. Think about how much money she donates to this project (around 50% of her intake), how many lives she has preserved and enhanced, and how many communities she has cleansed around the world. I think this is much more profound than most of the things other famous artists do for the world. Moreover, she is doing this for those who probably have no idea who she is and could care less. They just want to survive. Most artists only reach out to their fans, not the "others". So, be the Angels that you are, and realize what a gift Jewel has been. See the beauty is her imperfections and take comfort in knowing that she's just like us- human. One love. First of all, I love the song. It's simple, yes, but the words have more meaning behind them than many I've heard. And because it's a simple song, Jewel doesn't need to belt it out, it's not that kind of song. Plus I think the way she delivers her songs is a reflection of her mood at the time. Seems to me she just didn't feel in the mood to be bold and brassy, so to speak. As for her appearance, I don't really care either way. She's a 27 year old woman, I think she knows what she wants to look like and how much weight she wants to gain or lose. I do notice that she looks down when she shakes the hosts hands, whoever mentioned that. I would be embarassed too. That's her personal view and she knows people are going to disagree. It just looked like she thought that moment was just delicious. I loved it.
