Read if you like.so my This Way CD has disappeared and I haven't been able to find it for the past week. Nothing new, things have a way of losing themselves when they are around me. And for the past few days I have been trying to get back into playing my guitar, which is something I have been trying to get into since I bought one back in July 1999. (the whole guitar thing was inspired by seeing all those EDAs play in San Diego at the June 1999 gathering of Angels where Nedra spoke, for some reason I thought I could be like them too) Regardless, I still suck...So I went looking for my "Rare Angels" which has Boy Needs a Bike on it, because I wanted to try and learn that.. and of course that is no where to be found...just an empty case...And digging through tapes I come across my Innerchange Days, which I haven't listened to in years... and yeah I popped in tape one... and just starting bawling.. Reason? unknown..but I started to think about Jewel and how this was her at my age, doing what she loved in a small coffee shop (blah blah you all know the story) And then this is me, at home on a friday nite crying all depressed no where close to where I want to be in my life, or thought I would be...mmmm....so yeah.. my point... I dunno....I guess I just needed that reminder of what Jewel has reminded me for the past 5 years..helped at times to get off my ass and do something...make a difference...even if it is only in my own life. SO I woke up this morning after sleeping for 12 hrs. feeling a little better.. still unclear of the same things..but I think a good cry to Jewel every once in a while is healthy.. Anyway..thats my story...I luvs ya all... 'Dra "So sing it with me ladies, theres no need to be afraid. A bad attitude can brighten up your day. Very insightful and interesting. I found all the details about the business side of things very interesting too - it seems Jewel really knows what she's talking about when it comes to the business aspect of the industry. I wonder how much This Way cost to make. I know she's liable for 50% of what the album cost to make - so under her current deal the album has to make back enough money to cover 50% of the album. I wonder how many albums she'll have to sell to cover that? I doubt it was a horribly expensive record... I mean it took like 2 months to record and it's not particularly fancy. And with the 250 000 copies she's sold on the states right now... that 2.5 million dollars.. that's probably plenty. I'd be interested to know about that. Another notable thing was the fact that she said when she signed she took less of an advance so that she could get more royalties etc... so it seems she has a better contract in terms of the royalties and payments than many other artists still on their first deals. Also interesting were the details about how she hooked up with Dann Huff. Also they mention her latest single as being The New Wild West. That could be inaccurate, because I don't think they've announced the latest single yet. But who knows? I heard Jewel was pushing for that song. Oh.. BTW.. speaking of the business side and Atlantic Records... they've just let go of Sinead O'Connor and Rod Stewart. That's like 5 in the last month... with Poe, Tori Amos and Collective Soul moving on. Interesting... Probably all the better for Jewel - she's basically their #1 star on the roster right now. With Kid Rock's album pretty much bombing (ok it sold more than Jewel's but he released a record only last year that sold like 500 000 in the first week... so it was more dissapointing I think.. cause Jewel's been gone 2 years)... she's probably their #1 priority. Oh.. and Kilborn. I found it funny that they basically talked about Jewel the ENTIRE show (Kilborn and that actor)... it sounds like it's quite a big deal when she comes on! I thought she looked great, seemed very happy and content, and sounded good (although yes a little quiet). I don't get Derrek's mumblings about how she looked better a year ago. I think she looks better now than she's looked in AGES. I really like her hair lately. It's that "messy, just fell out of bed, natural look", that takes 4 hours to recreate. I think she looks good. And I liked the outfit a lot. Last year she was doing her hair like a cross between a 1940's actress and a porn star... not all that flattering (ie - the tonight show from last year). Anyway.. all in all a good appearance. Looking forward to Rosie on Wednesday! I never knew that Tom Cruise loved Jewel! They showed clips of her singing a few years ago at a benefit honouring him, and he requested her.. and they showed clips of him standing up and applauding her and stuff. Kinda cool. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2001 11:36:29 EST From: GroovGerLC@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] kilborn:( Okay so first Kilborn. My friend asked me if she was high or something! I don't no she looked out of it when she was singing but her interview was good. wow that song is only like 2 cords. I think it sounds better with band. Why did she choose to play that one. I only like the part about ta-tas on tv makes me laugh. Her voice did not sound good. Nice rock though she was sporting. Serve the Ego is my FAVORITE song on the album. The way she does that medetarrianian yodel (I don't no what its called) gives me the chills. EWWW!!! who was that dork actor grossing her out! Okay my question. I don't get online a lot and sometimes when I check my mail say once a week I dont read all 400 of the EDA posts. So my mom said she read in our New Orleans newspaper that Jewel got married. But she wasn't sure what it said exactly. Hello! I was pissed she did not save it for me. Is Jewel married???? If so I probably missed out on those posts. It's weird how Jewel disappeared out the spotlight when she fell in love. One more question. On This Way Steve Poltz does not play not even on one song. Anyone no if they are still friends?
